An actor has described how he hacked his mother to death with a samurai sword because he believed a demon had taken hold of her soul.
Michael Brea, who had bit-part roles in Ugly Betty and film Step Up 3D, has described seeing visions and said his mother Yannick Brea spoke to him with the voice of a demon when he launched his attack.
The 31-year-old gave an hour-long interview to the New York Daily News from the prison ward at Bellevue Hospital and said he believed he had done the right thing.
‘I felt like Neo from “The Matrix”. I began hearing voices and feeling powerful,’ he said.
‘They were asking about the difference between mom and mother. It was a sign.’
After returning from the Prince Hall Masonic Temple in Harlem, which he joined a week before the attack, Brea said he hugged his 55-year-old mother at the apartment they shared in Brooklyn.
‘I knew I would never see my mother again,’ he said. ‘I gave her lots of love.’

I just hate it, when people do evil work and they say that God told them to do so. “Jesus said, If you do good only to those who do good to you, what is your benefit; even the sinners do that. And so, He commanded us to do good to everyone, even our enemies, and God Almighty will reward us”. Luke 6: 27-36
I understand that there are many demonic possessed people in this world today, just as in the days when Jesus was on earth. But Jesus healed those demon possessed people as soon He noticed them, that they might come to experience Life, His state of Love in their souls. For Jesus knew that those people were not functioning on their own will, but they were controlled by Satan, the same way a person can function by the teachings and guidance of God’s Holy Spirit in him/her.
Remember that Jesus knew that Satan would take control of Peter’s mind, His own disciples, but He told Peter that He had protected him from that control. Later on fear–Satan’s messenger– of being killed by the Roman guards, caused Peter to deny that he had ever known Jesus; but Jesus reclaimed Him after His resurrection. Luke 22 and John 21
So why would God, command a human being to kill or destroy another human being, who was demon possessed today. If there is a time when God wants us to demonstrate the power of His Love in us and through us, it is today. As Christians, we are waiting for the return of Jesus Christ, that He might claim those of us whom God Almighty has chosen for Himself. We have to be people of the Light, to give Light to the world. God wants a people who will give Him “the Glory, the Exaltation”; “not the defamation, not the belittlement”.
The command to brutally kill or murder another person today, regardless of who they appear to be is not a command of God. For no one would exalt His nature of Love in that gruesome conduct. Also, in Jesus Christ, God had made provision for us to forgive others, or to intercede to Him by faith, on behalf of those we notice, who may be suffering from the weakness of the flesh, and ignorance of the mind. Through our call for by faith, God can heal those people.
Yes, God destroyed wicked and sinful people through His human Kings and rulers of the past, because of His Holiness, the nature of His, which cannot tolerate sinfulness and corruption. But in Jesus Christ, today, the wrath of God’s Holiness has been satisfied, so that we, who believe in Him, are protected of the intollerance of God’s Holiness; for God’s Love, in His Person, Jesus Christ is consists of abundant mercy and compassion.
If that man knew the Love of God in him–the Life that is of joy, peace, goodness, kindness, patience, endurance, humility, and self-control, he would desire the same state of Life for the mother he claimed to love; and he would know that killing her would not be the answer in helping her receive that Life. By his faith and calling to God Almighty, speaking his hope to God on behalf of his mother, she would be delivered from her demonic plagued mind–that is, if that was true about her.
The basic part of Life in Jesus Christ, is the hope we maintain in our hearts by faith, for His Grace–the blessing of Love; God never disappoints our hope in Him, otherwise He would defame His own glory. “Without faith it is impossible to please God; and faith is the substance of things hope for.” “Faith brings Life and Hope presses on to the fullness of Life, but Love is Life.”
This man’s revelation of his lack of wisdom and understanding of God’s Love and Holiness, is that he said: “he did not kill his mother, he killed the demon in her”. This man does not know that demons are spirit, which people cannot kill, beause a spirit does not have a physical body; the reason they inhabit a physical body, human or beast, to do their work. That is also the reason we must believe, that God Almighty, Eternal Sprit, Christ, is the Person of Love in Jesus, our Lord. But a demon spirit can be exorcised, by the power of Love, as God’s Holy Spirit goes to work in the mind of His chosen servant. Jesus exorcised a legion of demon spirits from a man sending them into a herd of swine; but those animals immediately went into a lake of water and were drowned.
Now that this man’s mother is dead, she has lost the privilege of attaining the Life of Salvation for herself, for she should have attained peace with God–reconciliation with Him–before she had left this world; but her so-called loving son, has taken that privilege away from her.
In conclusion, I do not know neither mother nor son. But I perceive one thing: They may have been both demonic possessed. If mother was living a Life of Jesus Christ, Satan in her son could do nothing to her. Satan cannot defeat God! Death, and in such a gruesome manner, has no victory in Jesus Christ! At the same time, if son was living a Life of Jesus Christ, he would know Love, which motivates us to demonstrate mercy, compassion, patience, and self-control against the conducts and attitude of people like his mother. Again, I need to say, that is if his mother was as bad as he described her. But as the saying goes: two mail crabs do not live in one hole.
That truth appears to be the same with mother and son. They both may have been experiencing with evil in their minds; I have learned that voo doo and obeah is a common religion in Haiti. I am not passing judgment; I am simply responding based on the information in the news article above and what I have read in the past.
The only unfortunate thing is that one of those persons has lost the privilege to become reconciled to God; and who knows whether the offender will come to realize the awful thing that he has done and to turn to God for forgiveness. We can intercede on his behalf, but he will have to decide to come to terms with God on his own.
This action is also a message of warning for the rest of us, who remain alive, to seek God and His Life of Love in Jesus Christ, now. In the year 2010, everyone should have heard that Jesus bled, suffered, died, and was buried for the sake of mankind. His resurrection signifies that we can receive the Life of Love that continues forever and ever, by our faith in God, because of what He did on our behalf. The day that we stop breathing for good, it will be too late for us to accept this Life, if we had never done so before.

I’m pretty sure that before this horrifying incident took place and most of you who commented on this were asked about Michael Brea you would have no idea if it were a man/woman. or if his mother’s name came up in a conversation you would’nt know who she was!!! Why are we always so quick to judge people based on their mistakes? A person may do a thousand things right, but that one mistake overshadows every good he/she has done.
The bible says in the last days perilous times will come. What are we doing as christians to ensure that this type of crimes don’t happen? Are we too self absorbed that everything is (ME,ME,ME, MY,MYMY). WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? Christianity is not just going to church and reading the bible on occasians and dressing up!! Let’s all work as a team so one day we can say yes this young man this young lady truely lives a good christian life. I always read the comments before I post mine, that is, if I planned to post one. And as I was reading those comments, your oberservation came to my mind. And I was going to write it in my personal comments; but you said it for me. What came to my mind about this man, was that I did not know a thing about; I had never even read his name somewhere, and in a way I felt glad about that. I will put the rest on my personal comment.
I heard of this sad news among others on CNN/HLN. Life is indeed strange or rather some people can be strange. From day to day, we never know what will happen to people, how they will act or react and what they will resort to.
I have not yet heard the full story of what type of a mother she was and what type of a son he is. I do think that this young man is the one who has the demon. Taking illegal drugs could contribute to this. It is shocking that he would do such a thing to his mother. The devil possesses his soul.
Young and younger ones, take a lesson from this. How often we exult those celebrities. If we only knew what type of lives they live, we would not bother to exult them or even purchase their tapes and records or waste our God-given previous allotted time to view those programs and movies.
Today, those of us who are older and wiser know better, due to our experience and what we have heard and read about.

I primarily heard the story on CNN/HLN. It appears that you did not comprehend what I stated. Read it again and patiently.
It is now stated “on CNN” that the man is in a mental institution and is being tested for a mental condition. It was also stated that he had a previous mental condition.
One has to be in a certain condition and under the influence… to murder his mother.
I urge you to also listen to the American TV channels if you have access to same.
So far nothing is stated about his mother other than he murdered her. It is so sad.
In bygone years, when we were in early adulthood we loved those actors as Elvis Presley and others. We would do our utmost to view their movies.
Today, with television and exposure of their lifestyle, it is shocking to us that those actors whom we loved and exulted lived such immoral lifestyles, as drug addiction, etc., which I need not elaborate on – put on your thinking cap. Nevertheless, I still have a love for Elvis Presley’s songs and certain other artists. This does not mean that I hate them but just stating a point.

You are definitely right! We are living in a world of too many lost souls, because those of us who have received the Gospel of Jesus Christ, will not pass it on. We do not allow God to do His work through us, because we are afraid of rejection, focusing more on receiving exaltation and fame for ourselves.
