With the new conservative majority on the Supreme Court Republicans in the United States are in the best position in years to overturn Roe v. Wade the landmark case that made abortion legal.
Near total bans on abortion have been introduced in several states with the ultimate goal of challenging the legality of abortion all the way to the Supreme Court, according to a Reuter’s report.
Governor of North Dakota, Republican Doug Burgum signed legislation on Wednesday (Apr 11) making it illegal for doctors to perform a second-trimester abortion (within 14 -26 weeks of pregnancy) using forceps, clamps and similar instruments to remove the foetus from the womb.
A more restrictive ban was passed by the Ohio’s Republican controlled legislature on the same day. The procedure will outlaw abortions if the doctor can detect a heartbeat. The bill will be passed on to the Republican Govern Mike DeWine who is expected to sign it. A similar ban was passed in Georgia’s legislature. The heartbeat may form around 6 weeks which is often before a woman can even realize she is pregnant.
Advocates on both sides of the issue agree that the aim of this legislation is to get a case sent to the supreme court (where conservatives enjoy a 5-4 majority) in hopes of overturning the 1973 landmark decision, In Roe v. Wade, that effectively established the legal right to an abortion.
I often remind my family and friends that the dominant two-party system of US politics often pigeon holes the electorate into a box. Furthermore, labels such as conservative, liberal and progressive result in erroneous typecasting. Beneath the surface, the majority of voters most likely hold a blend of political ideals and views that would place them in either camp depending on the issue. The larger question is what are Democrats and Republicans using as their unchanging moral compass? Also, are they consistent or convenient when using the compass to guide them across all political concerns? In my humble opinion, neither party has a monopoly on morality.
Break out the coat hangers, that will result in back alley and dangerous abortions, women will go under ground to get abortions. What would all those men dictating what a woman should do with her own body do if their wife or daughter were to get raped and impregnated? I supposes politicians wives and daughters are immune from rape they never get raped.
There are two major political parties in the U.S.Democrat and Republican.and they are diametrically opposed to each other.For example when comes in choosing a presidential candidate.Democrats will never choose one who don’t believe in killing babies in the womb.And the Republicans can never have one who believes in killing babies.It was just after the presidential elections 2016 there was a bye election and the candidate for democrats did not believe in abortion,so
he said, and was defeated,Tom Perez chairman for the DNC made it clear.”In the future no one who is not for abortion will be supported by the Democratic National Committee.
Democrats don’t believe in capital punishment.If a fugue enters your house,murders you,rape your wife and daughter.And this criminal is brought before the court and is found guilty,and is sentenced to die.Democrats will do everything within their powers to prevent his execution.You will hear them say
“This is too barbaric and inhumane.”
Democrats will even quote scriptures,
“Thou shall not kill.”
But the same democrats will say “A mother have the right to decide her own health care.”
Now,what health are they talking about? A doctor pushing a clamp or forcep in a mother’s V with a 5 month baby in the womb crushing the little babies skull,literally murdering an innocent baby.Yes and the Democrats calls this procedure.
“Emptying the contents of the womb.”
So you see,it’s inhumane and barbaric to execute a criminal.There heart goes out for him.But no feeling for the baby who has done no wrong.They say the woman’s right to choose.
Since this article do not informed us about Democrats how they are fighting hard to make it easier to destroy babies even after the baby is born.Here is an example.
Governor of Virginia Ralph Northam (Democrat) supported a bill to kill babies after birth.He said in January.
After birth we make sure that the baby is comfortable by removing the mucus, and then the doctor and mother will have a conversation to decide.”
The same month Governor Cuomo of New York again, (democrat) signed a bill to get rid of the little baby at the point of birth and make sure the doctor performing this procedure cannot be persecuted.After signing the bill,he received a standing ovation by democrats.
A Democratic legislator said not too long ago.”Abortion leads to economic freedom and prosperity.”
