Maduro’s soldiers desert over blocking of humanitarian aid into Venezuela

Associated Press (AP) has reported that several hundred soldiers have deserted the Venezuelan army in part due to protest over the  army’s orders to block much needed aid into the country.

An opposition-led plan to bring humanitarian aid from Colombia failed when Maduro’s troops prevented trucks laden with food and other supplies from entering the country.

This action sparked a wave of defections that saw over 270 officers desert the Army.

Speaking to AP, low ranking soldiers say it is all but impossible to leave Maduro’s ranks despite the amnesty offered by opposition leader, Juan Guaido for those who give him their support.

Guaido was declared interim president by the National Assembly on 23rd January 2019 under article 233 and 333 of the Venezuelan constitution after Maduro was re-elected under highly disputed conditions.

Soldiers told AP that anyone who shows the slightest hint of disapproval under Maduro’s regime face jail which has become synonymous with torture.

      Mr. Maduro
This is now getting out of hand. Trying to maintain the sovereignty of your country is one thing and all countries should fight to the death to do this, but when your actions are preventing much needed food and medicine from coming in it is time to reign in.

Sometimes for the love of your country you have to let go even when you think you may be correct in the philosophy or principle which drives you.

Remember the Bible story of the two women coming before King Solomon fighting over ownership of a baby? The one who was not the biological mother was happy when the King was proposing to split the baby in two and give each claimant a piece. The biological mother, recognising the certain death of the baby if that was done asked the King to give the other woman the baby. That’s how the King knew who the real mother was.

Same principle applies to politics too. I am following our trends closely too and I wonder sometimes if some people are Dominican!

I sincerely hope that members of the CDPF- SSU take note and refuse to take orders from Chemical Ali the next time he directs them to use tear gas on patriots.

Maybe washed-up and ‘Am- Bruse’ ambassador to Venezuela should travel to Caracas and tell the soldiers to stay with Maduro. O well never mind he is still getting his salary in Roseau.

When will Dominicans LOUDLY SAY something about this. This is wrong, and more so our present government has developed his government under the mentorship of Daddy Chavez, so we aren’t very far from this same type of UTTER HAVOC happening in Dominica should Skerrit RIGHTFULLY (by law) LOSE the election, but NOT want to give up POWER.

Venezuelans are human beings. They should be treated as such. They need our help!!!!

The only thing preventing a civil war is that the opposition has no weapons.

Thanks to Tareck el Aissami (look him up – links to Hezbollah Sadam etc) under the direction of Chavez. Disarming the public, placing currency restrictions so that anyone living in the country is trapped (making it extremely difficult to leave), making it extremely difficult to get travel documents etc. And some people still think this situation was just an accident. This was a power play from the beginning to create the same situation like what exists in Cuba where people must bow down to the government to eat with few options for a better life.
