Pope Benedict XVI has held the last audience of his pontificate in St Peter’s Square on the eve of his historic resignation as leader of the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics.

Tens of thousands of pilgrims carrying banners saying “Thank you!” flooded St Peter’s Square on Wednesday to bid a final farewell to the 85-year-old Pope who abruptly cut short his pontificate by declaring he was too weak in body and mind to keep up with the modern world.

“Thank you, our creator, for this weather considering we are in winter,” the Pope said.

“I feel I can keep you in my prayers … and entrust you all to the Lord so that we have full knowledge of his will through spiritual intelligence and knowledge.”

Rasta man which is what you are. Some of you are blind and deaf to the truth. Take this to the governments of those countries. They are responsible for what happens to their nationals. Do not blame Pope Benedict for this.
Blame also Haile Selassie, Mohammed and their likes – such people. Why is it you blame the Pope, the Catholic Church?
India, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, Sudan and oh so many other of those countries where atrocities are committed and their leaders live in palaces, eating the best of foods and they ignore their people as some dominate their nationals. Why do you not ask them?
Give us a break you godless person who cannot see the Truth, the Life, Light of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the sense of it all.
Make it the last time you blame Christian people about what is occurring in those lands. Conform to the Most Holy Will of God and He will reveal the truth to you. Were you not a baptized Christian? Where did you go wrong and swayed from the truth?

We Catholics must always pray and get others to pray. God wants and expects our worship, prayers and good works in Jesus Name.

The real Bible originated first from the Catholic Bible. It had the Bible first.
Keep in mind that 2,000 years ago the Catholic Church was established. All other religions that claim to be Christians got it from the Catholic Church, namely Luther, King Henry VII and others down through the ages. It would be wise to do a research into this. However, common sense should tell us that the Bible did not originate from those thousands of different religions to this age (with more to come as the world progresses) who watered it down to suit their mentality and some of their indifferent teaching. We have something above them and more until the end of time as God ordained when He calls everyone to their eternal judgment.

    Greetings to all,
Can some one show me and others from the Scriptures, (the 66 books of the bible)where the office of the pope originated or came into existence?.
    Looking forward for an answer.

    May God bless you.

J.J. John Charles you were once a Catholic. You are still a Catholic because you were baptized in the Catholic Church – life to eternity. No one and nothing can change that.
I have some cousins whose surnames are John Charles. I am wondering if you are one of my cousins. If you are and I meet you someday, you will hear more from me.
If per chance you are you were baptized a Catholic, made First Holy Communion and Confirmed. In fact all the Dominican John Charles are Catholics, no matter what village/ town they were born in.

As St. Paul said: “You were doing well. Who prevented you from following the truth? This enticement did not come from The One who called you. A little yeast leavens the bread.”

What type of life were/are you living that caused you to renounce your Catholic faith?

You chose to follow another religion. This is your funeral. Return to your Catholic faith and God will reveal this to you.

He said to Peter: “Thou art Peter and upon this Rock I will build My Church…”

This is how the Catholic Church has a Pope, based on the See (Seat) of St. Peter. If you do not know that and did not recognize this passage in Holy Scripture, The New Testament, you certainly have missed the important teachings of Holy Scripture, The Word of the Lord and the boat. I feel sorry for you and your soul. Pray to God for this enlightenment and forgiveness.
It is imperative that we know our faith, defend it, pass it on and stand up for it. Likewise what is contained in Holy Scripture. Learn, know and speak the truth at all times. Do not water it down as some are doing which has caused people as you to renounce your Catholic faith.

For centuries Roman Catholic people have (generally speaking) not studied the Holy Scriptures to learn the truth. They have believed what their church has told them without question because they are taught they must not interpret the Bible.

This has made it possible for the church to keep its hold on the masses. The “Thou are Peter” passage is an example of this ignorance but there are many other such passages. The average Catholic would not know that the original Greek language from which our New Testament has been translated uses two difference words here. Jesus said “Thou art Petros…” (which means a stone. It was used when the speaker was referring to a small rock or what we know as a stone.)
Then Jesus said “Upon this petra I will build my church, …” (which means a great massive rock).

        Continued …

      • August 18, 2015

        Continuation…

What was that rock? It was Christ Himself! In Peter’s testimony he said “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Then Jesus said “…upon THIS rock I will build my church,”

The Apostle Paul wrote “Other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:11).

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

Sensible decision to step down given his obvious infirmities and for not allowing himself to be carted aound like his predecessor muttering incoherently at public functions.May his successor advance the reforms in the Church began by the Vatican 2 council. The Church must address the decolonization issue within its power structure and elect a leader from the Third World where most of its members now live! The Vatican palace was not constructed for European Princes of the Church solely!

well said…better than those hypocritical comments i saw on FB, the man is making the best decision ever made, he feels incompetent so he is stepping down to have someone who is capable to do the work of the lord. is anything wrong with that? these false allegation we place on innocent people need to stop and clean our back yards before we look at others.

He did well. In a godly manner, while we genuine practicing Catholics were saddened about his decision, we applaud him and wish him well. We also visualize that it was a difficult decision to make. We are aware that it was not made without fervently praying to God for enlightenment. We pray that the Holy Spirit will send us another good Pope to lead His Church upon earth.

I love those Popes. They each played an important part in the Catholic Church. They did not lead us, the worldwide Church astray. They fulfilled their godly obligations. Thanks be to God. They are to be commended.
Do not blame his predecessor, the late Pope John Paul II for his infirmity. God has a plan for each and everyone of us.
People are different. Some can withstand sufferings; others cannot – too much. People suffer in different ways. This does not mean that Pope Benedict XVI was weak of spirit. He renounced his papacy on the advice of his doctors. Look at it in a broadminded manner.
I heard on U.S. Catholic TV and Radio that he is blind in one eye and is hard of hearing in one ear. He is alert. He had difficulty walking as we knew.
God chooses His Popes. He gives them the strength to carry on n their capacity. He will choose when His Popes die and step down from their post, just as any human being.
You forget that God is a Holy and Pure God. He is not prone to discrimination and specialized treatment. He does not think as human beings as you think. Therefore, my best advice to you is to keep your earthly and non-spiritual views to yourself which comes from the enemy of the Church, Satan who influences people as you to make such statements. They mean nothing to us Catholics, the Catholic Church and most of all to God.
