Theresa May becomes new British Prime Minister

Theresa May is new British PM

Theresa May struck a populist tone in her first remarks as British Prime Minister on Wednesday, saying that she planned to continue predecessor David Cameron’s “true legacy” of social justice.

She spoke directly to the United Kingdom’s poor, black and white working-class residents as well as women, youth and those with mental health issues, saying, “The government I lead will be driven not by the interests of a privileged few, but by yours.”

Conservative Party leader Theresa May officially accepted the role as Prime Minister on Wednesday after meeting with Queen Elizabeth II, who invited her to form a government.

In his final appearance in Parliament as British Prime Minister, David Cameron opened with the quip that “apart from one meeting in the afternoon with the Queen, my diary is remarkably light.”

What a true test of democracy set by the ruling Convervative part in England. The needs of the people were placed into sharp focus instead of their personal gain and consequently the wheels of effective governance were in motion. There was no delaying of the process. We as Dominicans need to take a leaf out of Teresa May and David Cameron’s book. Cameron was not out for personal gain otherwise he would not have set a referandom to the people.
Once he realised the game was over and the people had spoken he did the dignified thing by resigning. Our leaders can perhaps learn a thing or two from that display of patriotism. Also from a democratic standpoint two terms of office for any leader should be the constitutional normal as this is the only way we will get equality and fairness and at the same time take tentative steps in addressing corruption..

  2. It seem as if the Church is regarded as \”She\” or \”Her\” and the Bride of Jesus for a good reason

As in the old days, the King of Israel ruled over the \”congregation\”–the Israelites, in those days when women were to hold their peace

Today it seem so obvious that the return of Jesus is eminent–when He will claim His Bride it seem as if He is really preparing His Church (who is His Bride) to be a congregation of Women (in majority) just look women are become more and more powerful in these last days–especially in the Churches and in the Rule over their Nation.

I am not running wild with imagination; I am speaking through observation. For example between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump–who will be the next President of the USA? Britain is already settled.

Prime Minister David Cameron resigned not because he lost a general election but because the people decided that they wanted to get out of the EU and the PM wanted to remain so he resign in principle that’s what you call an honourable man. Here in Dominica the UWP has lost Four general elections and there has been no resignation . It beggars belief that a party that is bankrupt of ideas can ever win the hearts and minds of the people. I can see their delemar they are incapable of getting a second job.Linton admits that he send numerous applications and never got an acknowledement so there you have it

We Dominicans love Theresa May and cannot wait for a Donald Trump presidency. 8-O

    • You are nothing more than an idiot! What will it benefit you as a Dominican, and Dominica, if Trump becomes President of The United States?

Concern yourself with the backward state in which you live in Dominica, the poverty that consumes the country; while Skerrit the dictator and oppressor, live above you in luxury.

No matter who becomes President of the United States, the will remain rich, the middle class will remain the middle class the poor who endeavors to move out of poverty, many will make it out!

In Dominica, is a one track you are stick on it, depending on handouts. Fix your business in Backward Dominica before you foolishness about who is Prime minister, and who is president of America. Who in America or England cares about you stupid concern?

      • The poor who endeavors to move out of poverty, many will make it out! Telemaque

First of all, how did the poor happened, was it also because the Presidents of the USA lived in luxury through what belonged to them–as you continue to claim about PM Skerrit? The last time I read it, Mr. Obama\’s salary was in the hundreds of thousand dollars per year–I know exactly what that figure is–is he taking that salary from the poor?

And what is the endeavor which cannot be the same for our poor Dominicans? Is PM Skerrit stopping people from investing in their selves?

Man, you need to stop your cry down about Dominica and her people, because you have chosen to be on the left side of PM Skerrit–he is not to blame for our general mentality which is from generation to generation.

And the younger the generation the more negative the mentality, because of people like you– not PM Skerrit, who has only been reigning over Dominica for just 16 years.

      • Elizabeth that is a very foolish question to ask. In the first place we don’t know of any body going from poor rags to President of the United States! Most people who became president of the country, honestly go into it to do something different for the country. Certainly there is a certain amount of power which goes along with that office.

But basically all the past presidents of the United States were multi-millionaires living in luxury prior to becoming president of the United States, dating back to the days of Slavery!

If you believe people run for the presidential office for money; want to get rich, all you have to do is review the Presidents annual salary. Even Obama could have made more money in private life working than what is paid to him as President of the United states.

Regarding the poor in America, some people find themselves in that position because they lack the ambition to seek better, and make no attempt to get out of poverty; on the other hand a good…

      • On the other hand a good majority does not have the ability because of psychological issues, sickness of the mind; there are millions of mentally ill people in this country, and others with all sorts of medical issues, who cannot do better, or otherwise; so they fall through the cracks.

Nevertheless, they are looked after by society; due to governmental systems in place which takes care of the very poor! There are people in America, who are dirt poor, but you cannot detect them in the streets, they go into the grocery and buy the same, pay the same price as rich people pay for food.

Poverty stricken guys goes into politics, with a pare of tennis shoe on their feet, and weeks after they get elected, they have a million dollar house cars, and suits! That does not happen in America!
