James Mattis (left) and US President Trump

President Trump announced that Jim Mattis, U.S defense secretary will be resigning from his position as secretary of defense according to an ABC news report.

Chief Pentagon spokesperson Dana White told reporters, Mattis hand delivered the letter to the white house on Thursday during a meeting with president Trump. In the letter delivered to the president Mattis wrote, “I believe it is right for me to step down from my position.” Adding that he will be staying on the job through February. 28,2019 in order to facilitate an easy transition to a confirmed successor. President Trump took to twitter commending Mattis on a job well done and thanking him for his service to his administration for the past two years.

Mattis also alluded that he will be leaving his post so the President could have a defense secretary whose views were “better aligned” with his own.

“My views on treating allies with respect and also being clear-eyed about both malign actors and strategic competitors are strongly held and informed by over four decades of immersion in these issues,” Mattis wrote. “We must do everything possible to advance an international order that is most conductive to our security, prosperity and values, and we are strengthened in this effort by the solidarity of our alliances.”

Top Republicans and Democrats reacted to news of the defense secretary’s resignation with alarm Thursday night, expressing concern about the chaos in the administration and the message his departure sends to the world.

Trump said he knows more than all the generals. He has vast military experience serving in the bone spur brigade in Trump university military academy.

Are you serious? Why don’t you mention Trump’s crimes and why he should be arrested. Are you saying when voters like my household went to the polls and voted Trump, is Russia who had a gun behind us whispering “you must vote Trump”?
The millions you say who have been indicted or in prison, have any thing to do with Putin helping Trump wins election.?People who did not pay tax 11yrs ago.People who spoke with someone in October and when asked by special council, their ans. was August, others, they were not registered as lobbyists. So you see top guys in the DOJ coupled with the Democratic party thinks that we the voters have no right to decide,so they have been fighting Trump, doing everything within their power for the last 3yrs to sabotage his presidency. If you are getting your information from CNN and others likeminded you will come to the conclusion, that the U.S.A is sinking. But we the people have the last say.
Remember Christ died to save us.are you Saved?

Syria belongs to Syrians. United States belongs to Americans. No Syrian can go to USA and set up shop . Its inconceivable for any Syrian soldiers to be on USA soil. They wouldn’t even dare to enter US airspace. So why is USA in Syria. The Syrians over and over say they have not invited them and want them to leave their land. This is a no brainer. Leave the people country let them take care of their own domestic affairs.

Baahar al-Assad. Leader of Syria is crushing his oppositions even those who are innocent. The Kurds are resisting his army with little success. Our boy Obama drew a red line and said “if Bash al-Assad used chemical weapons on his people this dictator will be punished.”he did and Obama was nowhere to be seen.in the meantime Russia joined the fight supporting The Syrian army against the Kurds and ISIS
,also Turkey is against the Kurds,Turkey sees them as terrorists.also Iran is supporting Syria.America is fighting ISIS and is against The Syrian army, the Russians,Iranians but has a relationship with Turkey. All what I mentioned before is happening in Syria.Do you know how many years the U.S.is in Afghanistan and Iraq fighting?
During the campaign Trump told us he is against American soldiers fighting in vain, he will bring the troops home.promised made promise kept. The Nobel prize winner was the man who send soldiers in Syria after his so-called Red line

It is hilarious to me that Obama was awarded to Nobel prize prize soon into his first term as President, on the hopes that he would end the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. He didn’t do neither and as president he spent the most on wars- despite fooling people as if he was anti-war. He continued the same USA intervention in countries politics just like countless other leaders before him, just feeding into the Military industrial complex which always needs a war to sustain itself. Obama’s intervention in Libya now got black men being sold as SLAVES, but as a black leader he could care less. He has destabilized north Africa.

Now Trump, the President people feared would cause WW3, is pulling out of wars- and the Liberal media losses its minds. On one hand they complain that money spent on wars could be used in education and welfare- but an the other they want to keep the US in wars. The US media now got this 3rd world mentally that nothing your opponent does can be right.

The middle east is a war zone. They have been slaughtering each other for over 3000 yrs. They have one common enemy, the nation Israel. They in unison when comes to the destruction of Israel and you can take this one to the bank, these enemies are doomed to failure.they will never succeed. The U.S.may have good intentions wanting to save innocent live, but the same victims do turn against the U.S.Israel is the only one among them that goes to the poll and elect their leaders. The Egyptian tried a little thing not too long ago,but they had to return to military rule.So why should the U.S.sacrifice thousands of lives and trillions of taxpayers dollars in these countries?. just be a friend to Israel and use these soldiers and dollars to secure your borders.Let me remind you it was Obama who sent these soldiers in Syria without the approval of Congress

I am also not naive to think the world is a peaceful place. Tell me when has there not been a war some place somewhere on this earth. In our little country there is struggle for power. The rest of world is no different. Shaka Zulu fought and gave the brits a run for thier money. Greatest warrior of his time but killed by his own. Eventually the Europeans took over south africa and oppressed blacks. Imperialism changed from ruled by few to rulled by many and oppression of human at the leisure of a few never stopped. As i said before US Russia china Europe all have thier issues you pick your poison. The Russian and Chinese philosophy believe in order by any means. American can openly criticize thier leader. War is natural part of human population control and have lead to most of the technological advancements we now have. As long as thier are men who rule over other men there will be war. Some of us choose to be ruled and some of us chose freedom. Even in the bible there were wars.

I don’t like Trump either, but give the devil his due, because the U.S. has no legitimate role in Syria. If Putin wants that quagmire, let him have it. The U.S. minding its own business may not benefit the U.S. military-industrial complex — which includes Mattis — but it surely does benefit everyday Americans, especially service members.

Vladimir Putin must be popping champagne whole night. His nefarious plan is working just great. Elections does have consequences and 4 years is enough to capitalize on the madness in Washington DC. 13 cabinet officials and counting. The apprentice is realy running the most powerful country in the world and that is dangerous.

@Shaka Zulu, why should America or any foreign power have troops in Syria?

The truth is America has no real interest in syria and probably should not have been tbere in first place. Russia has been a friend to Assad family way before the civil uprising but they too should not be there. Syria is a complicated beast in the spread of totalitarianism. My question to you is what would you suggest done if people of Jamaica or Trinidad rise up against a repressive gov and the government in turn slaughter innocent as well as rebels with barrel bombs an anything they get. The whole middle east is a complicared place with too many tribal and religious strife. Easy thing to do is let them kill each other and let them choose thier repressive leadership and the rest of world can turn a blind eye.

This guy doesn’t know what he wants. All he knows is he hates Trump. Trump could come and drop a million dollars in his lap and he would probably still find something negative to say.

It’s crazy how people with this anti-Trump mindset are so easily manipulated. Trump deliberately takes certain positions so that the people who hate him will automatically support the opposite.

Case in point – he appointed Sessions and all the anti-Trumpers were calling Sessions a racist. When he lets him go so the prison reform mandate could go through (Sessions was against it) all the Trump haters were suddenly in support of Sessions. But it was too late and their hypocrisy was so glaring that it had no effect and he went slowly into the night.

They are at a stalemate on the prison reform move because it would look so bad if they started railing against THAT since they have talked so much about how the justice system in the US unfairly affects minorities.

        It’s chess not checkers lmao

      • December 22, 2018

@Siserou, you are the one who knows nothing. If you are in the the US visit a VA hospital to see soldiers with missing limbs, blind and many crippled for life all because of their government missadventure into foreign lands.

@ pragmatik stop spewing crap. Justice reform depends on congress and the president not whether AG likes or not. Congress create law the President either pass or veto. The AG only enforces federal law. This comment by you “When he lets him go so the prison reform mandate could go through (Sessions was against it)” shows the level of your ignorance and you just rambling like trump. The president was mad sessions recused himself from the Russian investigation and is trying his best to stop. Fact. Several close associations of trump already indicted and facing jail. Only the office of President trump aint arrested yet. Once an investigation starts no matter what any other crimes discovered will be investigated. Trump is probably asking himself why the hell did i enter in politics. Lies and twisted facts should never be accepted.
