U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Cuba on Sunday on a historic visit, opening a new chapter in U.S. engagement with the island’s Communist government. This follows after decades of animosity between the former Cold War foes, according to US news agency, Reuters.

Reuters describes the landing Air Force One, the Presidential jet, at Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport, as a “sight almost unimaginable before the detente of December 2014.”

Evangelical missionaries were forced out of Cuba at the time of the revolution and fled with only the shirts on their backs. (Literally. They even had to leave their wedding rings behind.) Believers in Canada are
monitoring the situation closely in Cuba. They know God uses the foolishness of men to accomplish His purposes. If and when we are able to again send laborers into that harvest field there will be crowds of Christians at the airport to welcome them.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

Raoul Castro looks pleased with President Obama’s visit. I tend to think his smile, as a greeting, appears genuine.

His perception is not that great or he would not have put his money on socialism. I hope his people get more out of this than the internet. If they gain back freedom of assembly and freedom of speech the gospel will be preached without restrictions. For those who don’t know what the gospel is it is ”…how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:3,4) This simple message SAVES us when we apply it by believing according to Romans 1:16. Nothing can be added to what Christ accomplished on the cross :!: ”For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

I have a friend in friend in Canada who was the pastor of a large city church in Toronto. He visited Cuba a few years back to deliver barrels and boxes of clothing, medications, and food items to a poor community. In the midst of doing good he was arrested by the authorities. They accused him of being a CIA operative and gave him a dreadful time, causing him to fear for his life and forcing him to leave the country.

Another missionary family from Canada just after the revolution were forced to leave Cuba, leaving behind all their possessions; a home they had built which was destroyed by the communists, and all their clothing except what they were wearing, even their wedding rings!

We have not heard anything about Cuba renouncing communism. In fact I have personally been told nothing has changed and there is no new freedom.

The people in our churches are still constantly watched, and their movements are restricted.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

There may be some leniency but the communist rule will prevail, for now anyway. This is one way of oppressing the people and keeping a rein on them.
Dictators also fear for their status and possessions, should they put an end to communism. They fear what may ensue.
Whether in our lifetime or not, one day it will come to an end.
In God’s time sooner or later all things come to an end.
Many West Indians also went to Cuba. Some never returned. It was not known whether they are alive or dead.
My father told me when he was a young man some male relatives went to Cuba. In those days, there was work in Cuba and many migrated there. The intention of some of them was to work for a while and then return home.
When Fidel Castro and his regime took over Cuba, most of them could not return. No one knew what happened to them.

You need to draw that comment to the attention of your boy Skerrit: Let him know it is only a matter of time for the revolution to hit Dominica; the storm is inevitable!

We would now expect explanations to be forthcoming from Castro for the disappearances of people in Cuba along with apologies for the abuse so many have suffered since the revolution.
This would be the only acceptable evidence that Castro and his gang have had a change of heart.

But instead we hear Castro asking America to change in ways that are beneficial to the worn out communist regime in Cuba and remove things America had to impose upon Cuba because of the revolution. Before America reopens its Embassy in Cuba or allows them to have an Embassy in the U.S.A. it would be appropriate to hear Castro admit communism failed in Cuba.
Certainly, Cuba is in no position (or condition :!:) to lay down the terms of a reconciliation :!:

        Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

I think that the leader of the free world Mr. Barack Obama is chooking his black nose where it doesn’t belong. It seems like he is far more interested in establishing proper relations with Cuba than Cuba is interested in establishing proper relations with the U.S.A. The Cuban president was not there to greet the supreme leader of the free world at his arrival on the Spanish speaking island. Well, oh my, that say’s a lot

Boy I wonder if Obama will talk about the Hong Kong investment office Antigua, was about to be opened? But wasn’t Dominica working on a much bigger office that was supposed to be connected to NG Lap Seng?

“According to the complaint, the $500,000 bribe was solicited and sought by Ashe and Lorenzo beginning in 2012 to allow Wang’s husband and the unnamed Chinese businessman to secure positions in a Hong Kong investment office Antigua was opening.”

    http://www.stabroeknews.com/2016/news/world/03/19/u-s-makes-new-arrest-u-n-bribery-case/

Once again Dominica has nothing to do with this; it’s just Antigua that in their way-lay-lay

and how does this relate to the article?????

  7. March 21, 2016

In 1973 president Castro predicted that America will talk to Cuba when there will be a black president and Latin America a pope, all his predictions has been realized ,America have destroyed the world ,finally killed Sadam , Khadafi who lived in stable countries ,destabilized them by causing lose of lives and vast migration .President Castro never gave up for Americans ,Americans must clean in front their door step first,America must give up Guantanamo to Cuba ,they have sufficient unused land in America to do what ever they want to,Raoul and Castro are the best presidents the world could ever elect,Obama will be part of Cuba’s history ,the only black president to visit Cuba in decades, this is an example to all, stand up for your right don’t give up the fight..

It is indeed a historic visit and the first to do so in 88 years. Wow! This was a long coldness.
Enemies cannot remain enemies forever. They must establish friendly relationships.
All governments of the world need to be united in love and peace. Otherwise, the people themselves will not. As Heads of States, they must set a good example.
It is time to end the embargo. He has to wait for the Senate to agree. As I heard, the Republicans will not give their consent.
It is also time to give the Cuban people their freedom. There should be conditions especially for the lawless.
In the democratic world, the lawless get away with too much. They are too free to steal, injure and kill. The situation is crucial. It is something the democratic governments must do something about.
