US woman arrested after stabbing lizard

Deputies arrested a San Carlos woman who allegedly stabbed a  bearded dragon lizard during an argument with the pet’s owner early Saturday morning, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

After receiving a report of a domestic dispute, deputies responded  to the 1000 block of Crestview Drive around 3:40 a.m. They found a man, who  told deputies that 37-year-old Shawna Kim Apour stabbed his pet lizard during  a fight, Lt. Ray Lunny said.

The two had a prior relationship, but they were not married, he  said. The victim, who was not injured, told deputies Apour had left the home  on foot.

Deputies were able to find Apour a short distance from the house,  but when they approached her, she brandished a knife, Lunny said. She refused  to put down the weapon and threatened deputies, who used a stun gun to disarm  her, he said.

Apour was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of  domestic violence, cruelty to animals, vandalism and brandishing a weapon.

he 14-year-old bearded dragon was taken to a veterinarian, where  it received stitches and is expected to survive, Lunny said.

On Tuesday, deputies responded to a call of a suspicious person  walking through traffic around 6:50 p.m. Apour, who had been released on  bail, was found walking on the railroad tracks near the San Carlos train  station, he said.

Apour allegedly became aggressive when approached and attempted to  remove a deputy’s weapon and stun gun, Lunny said. After additional units  arrived, she was arrested on suspicion of attempting to disarm a deputy,  trespassing, resisting arrest and committing a felony while out on bail.

I suppose that I overlooked “the stabbing.” Nevertheless, the lizard did not belong to her and so she was wrong to harm it. She could have killed it. There are those who do not respect the property of others, whether they are pets or not. This woman surely got herself in a lot of hot water, arrested, thrown in jail and note the number of charges. She now has a Police record, a criminal one and may be imprisoned for sometime.

well if this continues someone might hold someone else’s pet for randsom and actually get paid. or they might make a movie where the robbers instead of robbing a bank and asking for a getaway car may instead rob a petstore with the swat team trying to come in and get the gunsman out. lol!!!

      @ Conscience

I laughed when I read she was arrested for killing a lizard. Then I read further that the lizard belonged to someone else. This is the reason she was arrested. In any case there are some stupid laws that a person could be very well arrested for killing one, a rat, ants and roaches. Oh, there are some people who stated that they will not kill them. So stupid! They should have them moving around their accommodation and proliferating and see what they will do.
In my youth some of us killed a few lizards -zandoli and stoned them. Now do not get all excited and angry about that. I hate those things especially when they look at you and extend that thing which is underneath their neck. Whether this is true or not, I have heard that they are cursing.
You must have heard that some people especially in North America, U.S. and Canada and no doubt Europe have some strange and dangerous pets as snakes, alligators, bears, lions and the likes. Some owners and also their children have been mauled and killed by those pets.
There are stupid laws in those parts of the world that these things are imported and sold in the stores. I call it too, a stupid government as they refer to people’s rights. I do not think it is a right to own a dangerous animal as those. It costs a lot of money to feed them.
The government of Ontario or Canada for that matter has banned pit bulls. These have mauled adults and children and postal workers who deliver the mail. Some of them died and others were maimed. The government should also ban snakes and those other dangerous animals.
An owner’s dangerous snake escaped from his home (this occurs occasionally). The entire area of people had to be evacuated for days until it was found. I would not want this to happen to me; also for the inconvenience. The City seizes those animals and no doubt return them to a pet shop, only to be sold again!
Instead of some of them who have children nurture them appropriately, they prefer loving and caring for those things as I refer to them, such is my disdain for them.
Let me share something further. Some employees in Toronto/Canada of all have snakes in their homes, even as much as four. Can you imagine that? I do not think much of those people who harbor such. We do not know this unless they blab their mouths and appear proud of their so-called pets.
A few years ago during a lunch break a former supervisor overheard some of us discussing about God, Heaven and Hell, etc. He said there is no Hell and that Hell is on earth. At another time he was present, a co-worker said he has a boa-constrictor snake in his home and asked how it is. I piped out, “No wonder! You have Hell in your home.” It was not long after that I did not see him again. He must have left the enterprise. I hope the snake did not swallow him or wrapped around his neck and killed him.
I call these people mortally (morally) and spiritually sick, even those who have lizards as pets. They need the blessings and grace of God.
To be honest I do not want anyone or co-worker informing me that they have a snake in their home. They better keep it to themselves for I do not want to hear about it. Knowing this and working among those people will upset me. I will stay far away from them. Godly people do not mess around with those things as also lizards.

I did not see any where in the article that the woman had killed the lizard, I read that she stabbed the lizard and the owner had to take it to a vet and after treatment , the lizard is doing well
