Dominica has signed an agreement with the European Union (EU) for post-hurricane recovery and reconstruction efforts.

The agreement was signed on the margins of a meeting of foreign ministers of the EU and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) now taking place in Brussels.

The €11 million programme for Dominica was signed by Minister for Foreign Affairs and CARICOM Affairs, Francine Baron and Stefano Manservisi, the EU’s Director-General for International Cooperation and Development.

The Caribbean region was severely impacted by hurricanes Irma and Maria in autumn 2017. In the case of Dominica, damages and losses were calculated at 226% of GDP.

Agreements were also signed with Antigua (€5 million) and CARIFORUM (€14 million), which will support the Caribbean Disaster Management Agency (CDEMA) in further enhancing the region’s disaster preparedness and response capacity.

The financing agreements amounted to €30 million.

The three programmes are part of a larger package of €74 million adopted this week. The package will support the Caribbean region to “build-back-better” and promote resilience vis-à-vis future natural hazards.

Least we forget the Punjab PhD graduated with honors from the University of (DLP) “Deception Lies and Propaganda”; and one just has to remember the Suzanne Olde passport sale; the funds clearly articulated by his acolyte Tony Astaphans was spent on DLP campaign; that monies Dominicans can rest assured will be recovered in full from these brutish beasts. Accountability is not one of Skerrits assets and it does not matter where the funds come from EU or not; there will always be some coco-macarque.

  5. $28 MILLION Mistake?
    July 17, 2018

Remember the huge MISTAKE of $28,000,000.00 that Lennox Linton recognized and atere Parliament? Austrie tried to snub it away, but was forced to admit that a MISTAKE was made. Imagine such a massive MISTAKE? How could that have happened and Skerritt, Minister of Finance didn’t notice, nor the Financial Secretary, neither the PS, nor any one of the DLP Cabal? what a SHAME. What INCOMPETENCE.

Should we expect more huge MISTAKES with money belonging to the people that was sent to us for relief efforts post hurricane Maria? Where would all that $28,000,000.00 go if Linton did not notice the ‘MISTAKE’ or was it really a MISTAKE unknown to the CABAL? Note, Skerritt was absent in that parliamentary sitting.

What about “My Dominica Trade House’ and money and business in Malaysia? No answers?

What about the $156,000,000.00 that was also not properly accounted for, as revealed? No explanation from Finance Minister? We keep on watching. Too much CORRUPTION.

If you took your time and understand monetary rates of exchange you would never write such nonsense.

Defending your corrupt regime again. Looks like that’s all you doing nowadays. By the way, what’s your story regarding the US$100 Mio. Any news yet where all that money ended up??

Spend the money on infrastructure. Repair all those pot holes. Construct shelters and then spend the rest on getting people back to work.

The donated money and all past and future monies needs to be under the control of a Board of Trustee’s of people selected from all areas of Dominica to make sure that it is used wisely and for what it is intended. The Trustees should be selected by people from various areas so that everyone is represented and politics and favoritism is kept out of the process.

Why don’t you take time to find out the procedure as to how money given to the Government is spend and accounted for. There are already methods and procedures in place why the need for so-called Board of Trustees, the mere fact you are making such suggestion is because of your lack of understanding regarding such matters.

No no my friend, your wishy washy does not stand up to scrutiny. The procedures of the government to account for all the monies and aid is heavily flawed to say the least. The audit department is non existent and the finance minister refuses to even talk about the subject.

Let’s all hope that the best use will be made with this money that will redound to the full benefit of the people. I wish to go off topic a bit. Can we get an update on the exported indigenous parrots? Are they striving? What is the status of their health? Would they be repatriated? Awaiting answers from the relevant ministry. This government operates in darkness, there is no transparency nor accountability. Anytime a government is not forthright with its people, corruption prevails.

I wonder if you are honestly interested in the welfare of The Parrots or just trying to propagate your insidious political agenda. If you need answers about The Parrots here is where you will find the answers. https://www.act-parrots.org/contact/?lang=en.

That’s true. We must never let this issue die. The relevant authorities have been silent like a graveyard on this burning issue. Gary, the stoutest sycophant of this opaque regime, has directed me to a site claiming that all the information about the exported parrots can be had. Just like his Master, who often misleads the country, I was misled. If a poll are to be taken right now, I’m very much convinced that 99.9% of Dominicans would like the parrots back. Woes to this kakistocratic regime.

You asked a question, I gave you an answer and information regarding your question and you are are accusing me of being the stoutest sycophant, wow, so long for your intelligence. That just demonstrates you should not be taken seriously with your comments since you are not interested in facts and the truth. The Government does not have The Parrots under their care, so how can they tell you the status of the Parrots. The Government has already said the Parrots will be returned to Dominica. When you say you are misled, you are a joker. Your preconceived opinions, prejudice, and political partisan beliefs need to be addressed.

I just hope this is all help that does not involve cash payments to the government because that would not do much good to the citizens of Dominica.

We understand he possible thievery Bobol by this government. We do not trust them and for 18 years we have heard of big money coming t Domininca but there is noting to show of this in education, social economic development and stability in Domininca. This is a wasted corru0t Labour government. Clueless of development with a set of misfits, ole teeth supporters parading as know it all helping this nonsense Pm to kill our nature isle more into debt and poverty.
Skerrit, the big joker must go. He has failed us big time.

This government can’t be trusted with foreign aid in any shape or form anymore and that’s it. Your opinion does not matter one little bit because no doubt YOU are part of the SFC (Sticky Fingers Club). Your DLP propaganda and rethoric isn’t going to change the facts. By the way, perhaps you could explain to us where US$100 Mio could have disappeared to, I mean the money Venezuela had to write of.
