Isaac says certain aspects of Roseau Road Reinstatement Project underway

Underground pipes have been laid on a section of Victoria Street

Minister for Climate Resilience, Disaster Management, Environment and Urban Renewal, Joseph Isaac says the process of setting up the system for underground utility lines has started.

“Being the first climate resilience country in the world and in the Caribbean you will see that we have started the Roseau Road Reinstatement Project in regards to the river wall and also the major drainage and setting up the system for us to have underground utility lines,” Isaac said in an interview on State-Owned DBS Radio.

Telecommunications company, Digicel, Dominica News Online (DNO), has been informed, is currently engaged in laying under ground pipes for the distribution of fiber optic cable to government buildings. Work in this regard is being undertaken on parts of Victoria Street and Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard.

The laying of underground pipes is also taking place on the Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard

According to Isaac, he has been involved in the entire cleanup in the Roseau North Constituency and employed over 100 people.

“I also promised that there will be some roads that we will be repairing,” he stated. “Again through negotiations with the prime minister, I got the resources as the Minister of Urban Renewal to set up some of the roads”

Isaac identified the Bellevue Rawle Road and the road before the Dominica State College in the Stockfarm area as two road repair projects that have been completed.

He said work is also ongoing in some areas in Goodwill.

“Work has commenced on Rose Street also Margaret’s Gap and Hummingbird Lane in the St Aroment area,” he stated.

Isaac, won the Roseau Central seat on a United Workers Party ticket in 2014 but he subsequently moved across to the DLP and has now been assigned to Roseau North for the next general election. He had some more promises for that constituency.

“We also promise that we will deliver in the Fond Cole, Housing Scheme area. We have actually received designs already and they are working on the costing,” he stated. “It is a promise that I will keep.”

He said various short lanes in the Roseau North area were also being repaired.

Such poor planning and coordination, everybody seeking fame, if there is a plan to rehabilitate Roseau then why not state what stage of the plan this? Moreover why not have domlec and digicel coordinate along with dowasco and flow to have all utilities properly laid with one go. Also flow already laid fiber optic lines and instracture along Victoria street in the 1990s, is this of no use now?

Whatever Isaac has to say is of no importance or relevance. Mr skerrit i need your advise. Two men are going up for Roseau north, one has been committed, consistent and very loyal to the people who voted for him. The other one has turned his back on his people, told you to shut up and consistently said Skerrit must go! Which one should i trust with my vote?

Isaac you are pathetic man. You say you negotiate these improvements with the Prime Minister? You don’t negotiate with Skerrit because the man tell you what to do. Yes Sir, no Sir. Didn’t he say he run things? You have nothing to negotiate my boy but must take what you get and wag your little tail.

The DLP is boasting about their housing revolution. Is it Really a housing revolution? You are busy building new apartment buildings but ignoring the existing homes! Just take a good look at the condition of the homes in the Roseau constituencies, they are like an ugly flower with an even uglier city in the middle. Hurts my eyes! Isaac take a good look at the homes in Roseau North. They look like jigsaw puzzles. Hurricane season is upon us. Many homes still without “resilient” roofs. Many have shattered windows, shattered doors. These houses are not safe to stay in if we are faced with a Hurricane. To the shelters we must go! Again. This is my challenge to you Joseph Isaac, Melissa, Chekira and McIntyre. Let’s us see a real housing revolution for Roseau.

Are you walking with your eyes closed. Cant you see the Housing Revolution ( the construction, reconstruction revolution ) continuing hard and fast. I see pipes being laid, river walk and pebbles park enhancement being pictured right here on this DNO header. You want us to build our Rome in half a day ?

Issac what about tbe people of Roseau central who elexted you to serve them? Why did you not use the opportunity say to the people of Roseau central, here is why i sacrificed for you. Now you on here with a campaign stunt. I wonder how long you negotiated with the PM. 19 hrs perhaps? Over bed time stories and wine? You are nothing but a venomous snake not to be trusted. You have lost all my respect as a man.

Don’t worry about him. Once Skerrit has lost the election Mr. Is finished because he found himself on the wrong side. Maybe he has put a big enough stach to one side to last him for a while somewhere abroad.

Recently i took a drive in the stock farm yampiece and tarish pit areas.
the galvanize dumping ground is in a nasty state…..the work is incomplete …….you mean Isaac never see that? I also know that debris was dumped on the old landfill area and that site is a nasty mess.
every street in Simon Bolivar H.S. is the same state that Julius Timothy left it in 2014.
watch your mouth isaac……know what you saying
what road before the college you talking about?
a section of the road surface got damaged during during Maria….by de way Public Works was working on a contract to resurface the stock farm road from Public Works to the College……..again watch your mouth!
putting 2″ of asphalt on a road base that has already failed is not community development JI

that Roseau improvement you talk about is not strategic
you cannot handle Roseau Central and North
Digicel putting down pipes for fiber optic eh……what about Domlec….will we have to dig up de road again for that?

And moo shay iZack what the hell people paying tax for? You talking you dam nonsense about you as the PM for this and that.

    MAN BUZZ OFF !!!!!

    • June 22, 2019

Part of the Roseau enhancement program is to have all utility lines run underground that is what Digicel is doing, flow already has some lines underground. It I what it is.

Roads are not a birthday gifts that a parent will give their child on their birthday etc. it is parents obligation to feed their children. It is also a given, an obligation, and a parent do not have to go on radio and social media shouting out; “I just breastfeed my baby and fed my child” This is disgusting. Same as a government (this current fake DLP) who are in and collects our damn tax money etc is an obligation to fix our damaged road and I do not want to see again some hopscotch little boy Issac talk on DNO that our roads are being fixed. When your salary is paid do you tell us? Our roads need to be fixed
Why on earth that we have to have a news item talking about road as if it is a piece of news warranting notice by the public. Issac, this is dumb and it appears you are behaving this way since you jump across the floor from this decent UWP and into or onto this corrupt bandwagon on this fake journey with Skerrit and his most corrupt 19 ministers, and weak Labour government.

%, you are absolutely striking the nail directly on the head. Government fixing the roads should not be bandied about. The roads should never be left to fall in such deplorable state of disrepair in the first instance. An addition of new toads to compliment the existing network of roads then you cooking. Fixing roads, building houses, clinics, schools are good things to do. But once you have access to loans, grants and donations, these are easy. What is most important is the economy. Employment, employment, employment is key. If every able body in Dominica who wants a job and could easily find a good paying one, then we’ll be able to live a comfortable life and sing the government praises. Today, Dominica has the worst economy and the lowest standard of living in the sub-region. This directly reflects on the government economic and financial policies. It’s a damning indictment on the DLP misrule. For their abysmal record, they have to go.

These election gimmicks to gain favorable publicity won’t work. Isaac, you are damaged goods. The unpardonable damage was self inflicted. No right thinking person will ever trust you. Your credibility is nil. You have sold your soul to Satan. The only people who will vote for you are those who ask, “Where to put the stamp on an email?” “Where does the sun sleep at nights?” You are now a political deadweight and there’s nothing you nor anyone can do to resurrect your mangled political life. Just get lost!

“Being the first heaviest political climate corrupt irresilience country in the world and in the Caribbean you will see that we have started …..1. An exceptional immature, childish, worse Prime Minister we have seen seasonable in our Dominica. Issac, you know of decency in government. You were attached to the UWP, a decent and reputable Leader and political Party and you jumped ship to no resilience in your mind and you ran away to the most corrupt, irrelevant Labour government you have attached yourself to. You deliberately abandoned the prestigious, decent professional UWP, as yo knew and spoke of and now for jungle bells yo ran across the isle to a very disturbed, corrupt, immature failed labour Party Governemt , with one of the most immature, like Haiti, Head of government. Hait has failed and still strugging, with many Haitians now at our shores and Dominicans run away to our French Neighbours and UA, away from this failed Labour Governemnt, Failed Skerrit and poverty Dominica.

nonsense they doing. That whole road from bayfront to Newtown needs a resurfacing. So if it just cables they running, to patch back that they dug, to then have DOWASCO come a month later only to dig it up again then no i cannot accept that. ALLL roads in the town of Roseau, with the exception of the high street road and the higher end of Bath Road by the cemetary need to be resurfaced. But people like DOMLEC, DOWASCO and other utility providers need to work in tandem with the road works people so as not to have to dig then fix then dig again then wait for next election period to get the second dig complete. WE ALL KNOW THATS HOW IT HAS BEEN DONE. Only before elections, or maybe a huge event that attracts foreigners does anything get taken seriously, but always done is a rushed manner. But haste makes waste.

Short and candid but true. This what greed and dishonesty does. Short term gain for long term pain. He has literally sold his dignity, integrity, trust, reputation and soul , subjected himself and his family to public ridicule for a two year salary. In other words, he has sold himself cheap. Back stabbed his most loyal constituents, expressed no remorse about it, now running to another constituency asking the residents there to support him. Really Mr. Sellout? Joseph Isaac’s loyalty is to the highest bidder. He should be treated like a leper once he comes knocking on your door campaigning. Remember his re-election is not about you, it’s all about self enrichment.

Man still biting his dogs, and crying woof, woof, woof. Your comments are worthless, out d touch, a blind followers, not even a supporter wi the level of illiterate BS Nonsense you write just to make Skerrit feel nice. Skerrit has been this failure for over 19 years and your focus would be on Domininca and the patriotic comments we get from good people who are pointing out to you , Skerrit and woes on the areas where they have blundered heavily, eg Bin Boo, Fertlizer Bobol, etc and our country is suffering going deeper into poverty and all you do is try to uptight professional Hon Linton and follow this failed clown Prime (Odd) Minister.
The committed followers of the UWP are doing so independently for country and not for self, as these blind, followers are only showing a fear they have for Hon Linton and therefore express all hate and discomforting tones of irrelevant language. Skerrit, a failure and cannot match the success and international exposure Hon. Linton, UWP Ohhhh Vote…
