Jason Grogg slapped with eight customs charges; magistrate recuses himself from the matter

Jason Grogg

US national, Jason James Grogg, is again at the mercy of the court as the Customs and Excise Division has preferred eight charges against him. Following a $25,000.00 payment to the court last week, just two days after his release from the Dominica State Prison, the 44-year-old man was rearrested at the Douglas Charles Airport as he was preparing to leave the country.

On May 4, 2023, Grogg who was en route to Barbados for three days to have a meeting with the US Consulate over his previous charges, was intercepted at the  Airport at about 4:15 p.m. by customs officers. Subsequent to his arrest at the airport, he was transported to the holding cells at the Roseau Police Station where he was informed that he was under arrest on suspicion of “breach of customs acts 69:01.”

It is alleged that Grogg imported certain items including a vehicle that he allegedly still has in his possession, into Dominica, under the guise of the nonprofit group Feed My Sheep (FMS) which exempted him from payment of duties at the port.

Upon conclusion of their investigation over the weekend, eight charges were brought against Grogg including false declaration and evasion of customs duties.

When the accused man appeared before the court today, May 8, 2023, Magistrate Michael Laudat informed him that there were five indictable complainants against him and three summary charges.

However, Laudat stated that since he recently presided over Grogg’s previous matter, he would recuse himself from this case. He added that the facts of both cases are similar and as a result, he would not expose the court to any allegation of bias. Magistrate Laudat further informed Grogg that he would set the matter before another magistrate tomorrow, May 9, 2023.

Pursuant to section 212 of the Magistrate Code of Procedure, Grogg was further remanded in the custody of the investigating customs officer until his return to court.

On May 2, 2023, Magistrate Laudat imposed a $25,000.00 fine against Jason James Grogg following his earlier guilty plea to possession of one black and grey Glock 19 pistol, 15 live rounds of 9mm ammunition, and four Glock 19 magazines each containing 15 rounds of ammunition found at his home in Belfast Mahaut on April 17 and 18, 2023. Additionally, possession of 17 20-gauge Winchester ammunition and the two camouflage magazine pouches, each containing two (2) 5.56 magazines, with each magazine containing 30 rounds of ammunition totaling one hundred and twenty rounds (120) of 5.56 ammunition found in a container he possessed.

Following the fine imposed by the court, the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Sherma Dalrymple told the court that the prosecution was offering no further evidence on both complaints of trafficking against Grogg and his wife Jennifer Elaine Grogg and both complaints were struck off for Want of Prosecution.

I am trying to understand this and the more I think of it the more questions I have. Look, why is Jason the only one charged? Are there others they trying to protect? Who are the enablers? Look the man is a foreigner so how did he get all duty free if he did have a politician, a pastor, custom officer and other to help him with the paperwork? Make no mistake about it we all know how close the church and politicians are nowadays in their trade of corruption and in Mahault where that happened is the home of some very corrupt politicians and pastors, so don’t tell me their is no helper. In fact let’s not forget a few years ago a young lady in that same community murdered her two children and because of her religious roots and help from politicians and same court system they were able to fly her to Canada in the name of mental health. That same corrupt and evil group is friends of Jason before his fall and I would be shocked if they weren’t part of it and the system protecting them

Missionaries missionaries the demise of the Black population using their weaponized Christianity religion. They control your thoughts on God, after all, is their religion used to take all you have in their gods’ names? You are not sick, find yours.

Finland, of all European ghettos Finland return previous stones to Namibia stolen by… you guessed it…missionaries. The same holy priests that created harems of women and little girls in Africa while they wait for the slave ships to arrive. You follow their religion instead of finding yours today? The African Spiritual System that they shut down to force theirs on you. Move on people, move on, this should be over.

As a North American Native, I couldn’t agree more with you. Christianity is evil, and has served the most evil of purposes almost from its inception.

The gun is to shoot the dogs that come to attack the sheep. 😂. On a serious note, we need to be aware of those whom we welcome among us. We are still at the stage where most of us blacks still feel that we are inferior to a Caucasia and while we are accepting of them we hate our own kind. A sad state. Finally, I do not think this man operated alone. Spread the net a bit wider if you all are serious about investing.

I will admit that I don’t know the law but somehow I’m wondering if the DPP isn’t going easy on Jason. There is an ongoing case against the Leader of the UWP and Lennox Linton, and the DPP can’t find it fit to dismiss that political charade, which continues to make a mockery of the law and the judiciary. Is it because Jason is an American and a white man that she finds it fit to not find grounds to throw the entire law book at the guy? Wish she would be as generous with locals who have not committed any crime to the magnitude that Jason has done. The law doesn’t know color of skin.

8 custom charges.Custom what to save face.A container and a car brought into Dominica on behalf of Feed My Sheep. The owner of a church gave Feed My Sheep permission to place a 40′ container on her property.Everybody in Mahaut know this church and owner has been dealing with Feed My Sheep since 2017.A number of containers from Feed My Sheep has been secured on property for use by the church. Was Grogg a member of Feed My Sheep when the container came to Dominica? Why was the container searched after 2 years on church compound? Why was the owner of the church not detained on suspicion of a conspiracy. Why did it take customs so long to investigate and to know the declaration was false.Somebody in the church in Mahaut sold out and betrayed Grogg.

For whatever reason I feel the corrupt regime of Dominica is hiding something from us and they feel if Jason Grogg meets with the US embassy in Barbados he might drop something on them. I feel that’s the controversy that forced Magistrate Laudat to recuse himself. “He added that the facts of both cases are similar and as a result, he would not expose the court to any allegation of biasness.”

Ebeh, Ebeh, Ebeh chou Groog bien paytay    paytay!

On a more serious note though, I applaud Comrade Laudat for recusing himself. Very well done sir. I can assure you that this case which smells of mischief with the “appearance” of Chinese hands all over it will have some serious negative implications though quietly. Not that Mr. Groog is innocent or should not be held accountable but the way the Dcan authorities are handling this based on “perceived” mingling foreign hands.

You cannot treat citizens of foreign countries the same inefficient, wicked, vindictive and callous ways you treat us Dcans because their governments especially Uncle Sam carries big sticks. Again, not that he should not have been prosecuted but the way we dealt with the entire family saga including the children whose rights were violated stinks. Alas, boy when you see the US done with us after this is now we will bawl.

Dont be so quick to clap for Laudat. If it was one of the members of the UWP he would not recuse. Noticing Laudat want.

So in my layman understanding I conclude that Magistrate Laudat indirectly said that the court is bias but he doesn’t want to expose their biasness.
Sir that’s how most of us see the court. Very bias, very corrupt and very unjust
