The late Joseph ‘Joe T’ Thomas is being remembered for his noteworthy contribution to sports commentary and sports administration.
Thomas who had been ailing for sometime after suffering from a stroke, recently passed away at the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital.
In extending condolences to the family of the deceased Thomas, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said the veteran sports commentator and sports administrator will be remembered for his exceptional contribution to sports commentary, in particular cricket, for over 50 years.
“His standing in the region as a respected cricket commentator brought us great pride,” the Prime Minister stated. “In later years, he was assigned the task of formulating a sports policy for Dominica’s Sports Council and was Stadium Manager at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.”
Skerrit added, “We honour his legacy as a Sports Commentator extraordinaire!”
“On behalf of my family, I extend deepest condolences to the children and extended family of the late Mr. Joseph Thomas, former Sports Commentator and Sports Administrator,” he said.
He continued, “Joe T, as he was affectionately known, was a true friend of the Dominica Labour Party, which I have the honour to lead…May He Rest in Eternal Peace. May God bless his family and all bereaved,”
The management and staff of Kairi FM have expressed sadness over the passing of Thomas who was also a host of its Heng talk show.

Though we disagreed on many things that are politically wrong on island, we remained friends and always found time to chat productively. See you on the other side some day my brother. Condolences to the family , friends and acquaintances..
As we remember Joseph Thomas two things come to mind:
1. This passage which I will explain later
2nd Timothy 2: 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor.
2. Joseph Thomas, though very far from Jeff Charles in class (only Tony Cozier would come close to Jeff in the entire region), yet Joe Thomas is the best cricket commentator Dominica has produced since Jeff Charles.
Now to the scripture verse above. When Joe Thomas was healthy he was very useful to Skerrit’s use. However, when he got sick he was treated and rejected by Skerrit and the DLP as a vessel of dishonor, that was no longer useful for his master Skerrit’s use
It is said that crocodiles do not shed tears, but evidently some do! May your soul rest in peace Joseph.
