Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has congratulated Prime Minister elect of the Antigua and Barbuda Labor Party (ABLP) Gaston Browne stating that it is clear that when things get difficult in the region the electorate look to the Labor Party movement to “rescue things.”
Browne emerged victorious on Thursday when Antiguans took to the polls, removing Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer of the United Progressive Party (UPP) from office. Browne won the polls with a landslide victory earning 14 seats to Spencer’s 3.
Speaking to state-owned DBS radio on Friday morning, the Prime Minister Skerrit noted that he will continue to work with Browne. “I wish to congratulate comrade Gaston Browne on his victory, I wish him well…we will continue to work together; I worked very well with him while he was in opposition and I have no doubt that I will work well with him when he is in government.”
According to him the win was expected based on a CADRES poll conducted. “It is clear that the election results in the region show that when things get difficult and challenging, that the electorates of the region look to the Labor Party and the Labor movement to rescue things. The government was experiencing some economic and fiscal challenges and the people felt they needed to bring back Labor to help rescue things because clearly one would understand and appreciate that the economic situation in Antigua deteriorated to an extent and people felt that they needed Labor.”
The Prime Minister encouraged Brown to focus on the challenges in Antigua since as a new Prime Minister he has a tremendous task ahead of him. “As a new prime minister, first of all there are some real challenges in Antigua that he would have to focus on and of course, on a regional side you have a number of the regional integration movements in terms of the economic union and the unfolding of the various elements of the OECS Economic Union, so he is going to have to pay some attention to this.”
Meanwhile, speaking to the Antiguan media, outgoing Prime Minister of Antigua Baldwin Spencer wished the new government well. “The electorates of this country have made a statement. The verdict of the people of Antigua and Barbuda is one which says that they are willing (to have) the Antigua and Barbuda Labor Party governing this country at this time.” According to Spencer, he had already spoken to the Labor Party leader Gaston Browne to concede that the trends showed that his party was destined to win control of the country.
If a man is offering freebs, then we go for it! Why do we have a problem contributing to nation building? Freebs and bribes cannot run a country, it is a short term fix, we should look at long term fixes and get away from the instant satisfaction! The AlP promised the immediate repelling of the PIT as soon as they get into office, am still awaiting for the promise to be fulfilled! Please tell me what does the word immediate mean? Folks be pragmatic and realistic when you go to the poles in DA as oppose to the folks in Antigua that voted for an economic plan that has failed in the pass! there is nothing wrong with electoral reform, as it is for the good of the country democratic system! The ALP and DLP have one thing in common, they are innately corrupt and corruption is never good for any country, rather vote for the administration that will best run your country and keep it scandal free!
DNO u did it again! What happened to the comment I made yesterday?
I thought we live in a democratic country and one is free to make clean comments.
skerrit will never give voters i d cards forget that idea.
Dominica Labour Party, save yourselves, keep your dignity and vote that imposter Skerrit OUT!!
It is very easy to see who supports DLP and who supports UWP. Nothing DLP supporters state is pleasing to them.
UWP supporters are the worst set of people, critical, vindictive, troublemakers, creating division and disunity in the land. You are not correct, you know. You turn people off voting for UWP.
Boy my people are not easy. How easy we forget. In 1995 the Freedom Party was voted out by the United Workers Party and the following years was bare fiasco for the people of Dominica. These guys could not and did not have the “testicular fortitude” to run a country. So we ended up with:
Civil Servants Salary being paid by the 10th & 15th of the following month.
Government borrowing at commercial interest rates – 13.5%??
Force a Netball court at commercial rates – now standing dilapidated – what a waste of money
Dismantle the DBGA just to spite Scotland and drive bananas to the ground
Sell DOMLEC to a foreign company so that the UWP Govt. could pay civil servants salaries – note that the electricity company of every Caribbean country is state owned. Numerous power outages followed
Frequent water outages
Roads in a poor state
A 3% sales tax that was not managed
And then came 2000 and they lost the election, UWP still owing Earl Williams 6 months salaries
During their term of terror Dominica UWP racked up massive public debt – according to IMP the public debt doubled between 1997 – 2000. Dominica could not meet its external financial obligations, and so external financial support stopped. And the economy continued to decline until the LABOUR administration started to clean up the mess/damage/disaster that Hurricane UWP left behind. The job of cleaning up the mess killed 2 Prime Ministers. We became the laughingstock of the Caribbean and the wider world, being led by an “unnamed farmer” who though he was up to the task but failed miserably.
A 4% stabilization levy was implemented to help stabilize the country, plus the govt had to increase the sales tax to 5%. According to IMF growth in Dominica started to pick up somewhere around 2004 under the LABOUR administration!
And now other Caribbean countries are looking up to Dominica and now you say change is a must? Change to pre 2000? Skerritt is the only PM that has the “testicular fortitude” to implement the much need rehabilitation and infrastructural works in Dominica. Yes LABOUR care!!! just look at the YES WE CARE program, Universal Secondary education, a cadre of well trained, highly motivated workers, a better and much more efficient Medical Health System, expanded energy production and the list goes on. Show me what was UWP did for Dominica between 1995 -2000/Jan. LABOUR dared to go where no prior Government had the guts to go. DOMINICANS I still remember, and I am sure that most of you do, but for whatever reason we want to regress. Be smart my people. LABOUR POWER ALL THE WAY COME NEXT GENERAL ELECTIONS!!!!!
“Remember…” and don’t forget the Bin bobol, .. and the Villas…and the free tax payment ….and … and … and a kick out right through this Labar party.
Excellent comments. You have a good memory. Some people have a short memory. How quickly they forget. This is why they will suffer if they want a change. It is all envy.
You are correct. All governments have great respect for the PM. They are jealous. They want to fit in his shoes. I pray they never.
@ Remember
all what u speak about started in 2002. Stop lying and deceiving. Your labour party is doing enough of that already.
Dominicans voting for dimples, and red clinic handouts from 2000 till now.
one thing Antigua ppl say what they mean and mean what the say ……….if the can’t deliver we get you out out out ….. i doubt this is about a party what we want is action and results …..but on a real labor in Antigua is ready to rebuild ………
when u have a member of parliament calling women prostitutes then maybe we should elect him so he can continue to insult Dominican women.
Oh, tell us wise man, who may this member of parliament be/ If he/she made such a remark in public you should not be afraid of mentioning the name of that member. Please, do tell.
Mr. Brown, please put some commonsence into Skerrit’s brain.
It’s damage. He does not understand what is happening.
Ok Skerro, Since according to you “it is clear that when things get difficult in the region the electorate look to the Labor Party movement to “rescue things.” Why don’t you use that as motivation and call it nou? Call that thing bro. Labor is in power here, you have the money, you are even able to import voters, why not just announce the date? Call the election tonight man and stop talking
SPENCER GONE, SKERRIT NEXT!!!!!!!! WHY?
Unemployment
Low Foreign Direct Investment
Failed Promises
High Crime Rate
Insults to the People
Stagnated Growth
Lies
Deception
Thievery
Ineptness
Nepotism
Kickbacks
This DLP has performed worse than the Spencer administrationo in Antigua.
THEY ENTIRE GANG DESERVE THE KICK IN THEIR A– !!!!!!!!!! Every Single One Of Them!!!!!!!!
HOW LONG?
NOT LONG!
Boy that pm gone mad… boss u r a waste of time n the ple will deal with u for what u hv brought DA too.. we tired with you time to go …nothing u say eh getting to ple again the ple eh trust you anymore we want change. We voting workers this time around.
bo y de way i hear de PM talk after de election a would swear and say he was crying or afraid to call de election is now it going to have bobol in the election . they are trying there best to buy votes i want some body to buy mine cause i sure not going to vote just like that this time around…..ilove my dominica and not going to let it go down the gutter ,skirret it time to move out let some body else with bigger balls do the jod
Very interesting , labor Party is doing is going to rescue Labor Party from a bad economy, corruption, unemployment, irregularities in general elections, political mapuis, bin and fertilizer boreball, the biggest cabinet in the OACS, poverty, land and passport deals, the red clinic, no jobs from the hundred of young people who has left school over a month ago, the closure of the Marigot hospital, over a billion dollars in debt, abandonment of hundred acres of farm land, allegations of rapist Ministers.
If Skerrit thinks that people on Dominica are happy with his performance then why is he still trying so much to recruit Dominicans overseas?
I do hope that mr. Skerrit’s message that the people of Antigua turned to their Labour party for succour is not an advertisement for the performance his party of the same name that controls Dominica’s Govt. I do hope he does not see himself as an example for others in the region to follow because that would belie the economic facts. Let’s examine a few salient performance indicators of the of the economy of Dominica, in comparison with Antigua.
Antigua has a population of 89,000 against, Dominica 72,000:
GDP: Antigua U.S.$.1.76 billion, Dominica U.S.$. 497 million
GDP growth rate: Antigua1.6%, Dominica 0.4%
unemployment (15-24 yr. old): Antigua 19.9%, Dominica 26%
Budget
revenue: Antigua U.S.$.229.5 million,Dominica U.S.$148.1million
Taxes revenue: Antigua 19.5% of GDP, Dominica 29.8% of GDP
(all figures for 2012)
To this we can add other factors such as the abysmal performance of Dominica in attracting foreign investment compared with Antigua and the fact that whereas Antigua also has its economic citizenship programme their citizens do not require visas for either Canada or the the Schengen countries of the E.U.
There is little that Antigua can learn from Dominica. In my opinion the people of Antigua have chosen for Change and the only thing the Labour party in Antigua and that of Mr. Skerrit have in common is a name.
And guess what, we still voting DLP. We want our loving PM, that’s man for many, many more years to come. We doh fed up yet and we doh see it happening any time soon.
I frimly believe that a certain proportion of the population are related to the lemmings. Malgraysa!
Sadly even with the economic facts in our face. Its really sad
It is about time Dominicans realize the Skeritt led administration is not an economically-minded Government. It is a proven infrastructural Government. In order words, the Minister of Finance does not understand how the economy of a country works. He believes the building of bridges, repairing of schools, roads, houses for the less fortunate and hand outs are what it take to drive an economy.
Fellow Dominicans,
Please take this result as an indication that Dominica needs a change of government.
I am confident that our current government have tried to serve us to the best of their collective ability; however we need to consider introducing a fresher perspective. So please, I urge you to make the right choice when you go you go to the polling booth.
Dominica needs change and it needs it now.
Best wishes
Labour is the right choice. We breaking stick in our ears ok. So we don’t want your negativity.
@Realist You seem to be scared of something. But you will hear the news even if you are under a ded hiding.
IT’S TIME FOR CHANGE.
@ Realist
bed
Any negativity, derives from from our Skerrit’s behavior and dysmal performance.
Sometimes I wonder whether Roosevelt Skerrit is sane. I guess Labor Party in Dominica will be brought in to rescue the dire situation in Dominica. Last in the ORCS in economic performance; highest unemployment in the region; negative growth.
Labor Party of Skerrit – for the next level of misery and shame bring in Roosevelt Skerrit and his band of VAT – Vagabonds And Thieves
We elected him again and again. We still will elect this beloved man. The PM is here to stay and my finger will make sure of that.
@Realist You seem to be scared of something. But you will hear the news even if you are under a ded hiding.
IT’S TIME FOR CHANGE.
@ Realist
bed%
whilst u are busy breaking stick in your ear, skeritt and crew will be breaking stick lower down your back
the opposition is taking over Jamaica first then Grenada and now Antigua next Dominica don’t fool yourself pm i know u worried
Maybe the other countries have good opposition that can be good government.
Dominica has a good working government we would be crazy to put the current opposition in Dominica in government.
We are keeping the Dominica Labour Party Government.
Tell us which of the current people going up for the UWP that you would honestly and truthfully regardless of your party support like to see in government and who would do a better job that the current administration Government
Skerro don’t get your hopes high
I am so very happy that someone was brought in to rescue things in Anu. The same must be done in Dca, in comes team Dca to “rescue things” from the hands of these wicked skeritians this is NOT the labour party of Roosie and Piero them!!! CHANGE IS A MUST!
It is very interesting that the economy of Antigua is doing much better than that of Dominica, yet you have Skerrit and Astaphan admitting that the Antiguans voted for ALP based on the poor performance of the Antiguan economy. The message is therefore clear, under the watch of DLP Dominica has become the worst performing economy in the region. Even St. Kitts with a much smaller population, is doing much better than us. One of the main concerns of Gaston Browne and the ALP was the inability of the UPP governmenr to attract significant foreign investments. Recent reports reveal Dominica to be in last place in attacting foreign investments. So if Antigua like every other island in the region are doing better than us in all areas of economic development, and these islands are voting for change to further improve their respective economies, the question is, under the circumstances what must Dominicans do? Are we going to continue to wallow in economic dispair and mendicancy or are we going to vote for positive change? I SAY CHANGE IS A MUST AND NOT AN OPTION.
It is NOT the PARTY that won the election, it is the PERSON LEADING THE PARTY. Antigua and Barbuda responded to a CHANGE.
Stop talking nonesense…the Antiguan electorate are certainly not as block headed as your labour party supporters…They voted on issues kike corruption, unemployment and poor services.
Congratulations are extended to Baldwin Spenser for demonstrating statesmanship by cleaning up the voters list and issuing ID cards. You should take a leaf form his book and redeem yourself by cleaning up the list…
That labour nonesense is surely a figment of your imagination!!!
Excuse me least we forget Horse; Donkey and Mule all belong to the same animal family (specie), but they are certainly not the same; Deception; Lies and Propaganda (DLP) stands out as the Dark Horse. Just ask the DLP, PRO.
Mr Skerrit I think you have not fully understood what happened in Antigua. Antiguans asked for change against corruption, economic wealth of Politicians, unemployment and economic instability. Are you not seeing the CHANGE right in your face? How long are Dominicans going to sit and see Chineese engaged on all our projects while we sit by and Look?
How long will dominicans sit and ministers becoming richer while the masses get poorer?
How long will Dominicans sit and not see justice in the G.O.N case simply because a few might go down to?
How long will small business people sit back and see Chineese taking over Roseau and their Government cannot lend a support?
How long will Dominicans understand that if Ambrose George was so clean ,which we know he is not , two prime ministers would not fire him? Wake up Roseau South!
How long will Dominicans continue to allow these politicians take them for fools, We heard of Bin and Fertilizer Bobol,Villas, French passports, are we going to continue to sit back?
Also how can we ingest that a man who was just a minister a few days ago is now president and we still expect him to be neutral, is that democracy?
Why are we not able to clean the voters list like Antigua, how long will that take?
Finally Change is there- I can feel it!!!!
@St.Joe new voter
VERY WELL SAID!!!!!!!!!!
It’s Time For Change, and i want to be part of it.
I AM VOTING AGAINST ANY SKERRIT CANDIDATE THEY SEND IN MY CONSTITUENCY!!!!!!
I think you are misreading into that one mr. pm. first the ABLP and Dlp are vastly different. first they believe in free and fear elections and a clean voters list and you don’t. The people of Antigua requested it and Mr. Spencer (say all you want about him) gave it to them. Unlike you, you don’t listen to the voice of the people. So don’t come playing like labor is the panacea to the Caribbean’s economic woes. my advice to you is like Syria and the other rogue leaders of this world who don’t listen to the people and enrich themselves at the expense of the masses, watch it..your defeat is just around the corner! Change is hovering in the air……so lere bab camawad ou ka pwi diffay woozay saw!
fair elections!
The up coming elections might have a winner, and a looses, baring a “Tie”. my only hope is who ever looses will show class and in a dignified manner, congratulation the winner, and promise to work together as one people to continue to build Dominica. Win. loose, or draw, we are all Dominicans! But as in human nature talk is cheap. but lets wait and see, for ” When the rain falls it does not fall on one man`s house”. ” Remember That!”
True say! But let that winner win clean , clean , clean!
If changing a Government based on the call Change is a Must…. just for change sake, I rather be red forever……
Change to what?
Let us compare…
Leadership quality and stability? Who?
Education quality Who?
Approachability?Who?
Ability to run a country Who?
Respectability Who?
Love for Country and People Who?
Change for what ?
Yu must be crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Are you out of your mind? Did you not know that COMMON SENSE OUT-WEIGHS EDUCATION?
Labour winning hands down and my vote will be counted. We red, red, red, red we readyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
@Realist You seem to be scared of something. But you will hear the news even if you are under a bed hiding.
IT’S TIME FOR CHANGE.
Good thing is one vote alone u have and my vote just cancelled yours. CHANGE IS A MUST……NOT AN OPTION
My thoughts exactly.
Look to the labor party to do what? No, Mr. PM, the people looked for change in Govt not ETO the labor party. You got it wrong and that’s what Dominica will do too. change the govt, it’s time for change. Antiguans gave Spencer govt several chances just like Dominica gave you several chances. Things are not getting better because you guys have become complacent and have taken advantage of the positions. You have abused the system and now it’s time to change. So stop holding up the election, clean up the list and stop importing voters and see what will happens . Stop holding the country hostage, stop, being so scared of losing, if you are doing a great job then you should have nothing to fear. You would not have to buy votes in secrets. You know know you are scared, you know it is Impossible for you to win without cheating because Dominicans have already decided and you are playing games and buying time to cheat once again. But change is here you can’t avoid this one. Thumbs up to Antgiuans, thumbs to Spencer for cleaning g up the list.
Roosevelt Skerrit can go high and he can go low,
he can gain the billions and trillions,
but sir your time is at hand.
A cool breeze will be blowing over Dominica.
Who knows whose time is at hand?
As a Dominican / Antiguan, we saw that it was a time for change and the people spoke with a resounding voice. Mr. PM, I want you to listen and take heed, this is not an indication to you that you will win the election and keep my fellow Dominicans in bondage! This is a wake up call to you and your cronies. How long do you think that the heavenly father is going to allow you to keep his children in shackles with you red clinic while you fatten your purse. Enough is enough, people are frustrated, it is time for a change. Just as how God gave Moses the power to part the red sea to lead his children from captivity, God will make a way for Dominicans to break free from your shackels. Remember the ABLP was in the opposition, the UPP was not doing too badly but a change was needed and the people effected that change; be on guard Mr. PM, we are coming to effect that same change in Dominica. Our land needs a rebirth and it will not happen with you at the helm.
LOVE IT
Labour is just a name, there is no labour movement so stop your foolishness and all your puppets following you.The government in Antigua lost because they were doing the exact thing you are currently doing in dominica so the people voted in a fair election for change.the name doesn’t matter,They didn’t have to recruit people and buy ticket for them to come down Antigua to vote.if you want to join the labour movement then do something right for a change just like the ABLP.voters ID,if you didn’t vote in the last 2 elections then you will automatically be removed from the voters list….DO IT!!!! Coward
time for dominicans to rescue dominica from the dlp
When Prime Minister Browne meet the press on Friday, he spoke of many things he intends to do in his early days as Prime Minister. For instance, more jobs, more investments, less taxes, 500 homes in 500 days. It would appear he has been listening to Mr. Lennox Linton. However, he forgot to mention 5000 jobs in three years, or maybe he is not capable of such an achievement.
If PM Skerrit think he can fool Dominicans to believe that the word LABOUR is enough to improve their lives, he is living in a dream land.
The Labour of England is the origin of Labour Parties and they created a mess and was rejected by the British people. The labour of Dominica has destroyed the livelihood of Dominicans and they will be rejected by the Dominican people.
H is not. Just the word Skerrit has all of us excited to vote him in again.
@ REALIST: Have you realize that you are just among the few praising this bobol government? I suspect you are one of those getting something from the RED CLINIC. Unfortunate and sad but you need to find a job. Are you working?
Change is a must! how can you support the following: Bin and fertilizer bobol, Villas, Land transfer deal, GON fire bombing, Ministers with three homes, Chinesse taking over Roseau…. should I continue? Check your conscience!
Foolishness is really brave, lol. Do use realise that people worldwide are reading your comments? Stop embarrassing Dominicans and the DLP, just hush. Silence will make u seem smarter.
@Realist, You ought to be ashamed of yourself! You must be a Dominica living abroad and knows nothing about real life in Dominica and the plan to send Skero packing.
well call your election nuh mr skerrit……u dere trying to play mind game ….antigua is antigau …dominica is dominica…
CHANGE IS A MUST NOT AN OPTION…we ready
We will see in Dominica lol .I think there calling for UWP
This pm is suffering from amnesia. However, that will be treated after the General Elections!
Buoy look at a mustache! His mustache dat win election, if it wasn’t for de mustache mista doh winning!
The only way Lennox Linton can beat Skerro is if he grow a big bowcha no nonsense hardcore steel wire jumbi black moustache!
LENNOX CANNOT RESCUE HIS OWN SELF ELIEVE HE CAN DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE HE CAN RESCUE DOMINICA. these worker minority suporters are really delusional. then again their team dominica is filled with so many emotionally unstable persons what else can we reasonably expect
@ I love cow meat to: Go learn to spell… it is idiots like you who have this country so backward. No wonder where ever a Dominican goes we know. Go and read and educate yourself!
udohreadyetna lol
The same reasons Antiguans removed the Government is the same reason Dominicans will remove this Government…..really persons are fed up with the nonsense going on in DA…Time for Change
A few fed up but the majority LOVE that man Skerro. We love our PM. DLP all the way.
@ Realist, The few fed up Laborites and those dressed in red will be the first ones to speak against Skero on election day. Watch and you will see.
Love your P.M., by all means that is your right. But remember the old saying that “love is blind” and that is no excuse for indulging your lover’s behavior and ending up with a battered-wife syndrome. If you want that for yourself that is fine but don’t insist on imposing your lover’s whims and fancies onto others.
Under no circumstance can Skerro and his DLP win the next General Election if we have Free and Fair Elections with a clean Voters list and Voter ID Cards. Skerrit knows this to be true , that is why he is determined to bribe Dominicans living overseas and other people to come to Dominica to vote for him. Enough of you Skerro , just like the UPP in Antigua you have made our people Beggars and our beautiful island the poorest island in the Caribbean. Change is now a must and not an option. Time to pack up with your corrupt cabinet ministers and GO……. Alley…..The DLP deserves the same Landslide defeat like the UPP in Antigua.
Should that ever happen, I predict that you will suffer along with other D/cans. Make good note of this.
labour in the house
Just like in Dominica, the UWP will be put here to rescue things. Change… Change…. Change is a MUST
Congratulations to Antigua and Barbuda Labor Party. All the best to you Antigua PM who will now lead the people of Antigua. I noted your happy smile. You have every reason to look the picture of jubilation. May God be with you.
Prime Minister Skerrit had every right to congratulate him. From one PM to another, it is protocol and a mark of friendship. The people wanted the Labor Party and they got their elected wishes.
I know some Antiguans, the type of people they are, I know they would vote for the Labor Party. I must telephone one of my Antiguan friends in Ontario about this. I have no doubt this friend is satisfied with the outcome of the Antigua election.
To those whom I know who reside in A/gua, I have no idea if you access DNO. Nevertheless I am sending my best wishes to you that Antigua will be well-governed by the elected PM and his Party members that, under his leadership, all your wishes for Antigua will be fulfilled or at least most of them.
I visualize it is not an easy matter being a leader of a country especially in this era. Times are not what they used to be as in previous years. The world is changing and with every generation people are constantly changing including demanding of their government. The latter is not always fair to the government.
God bless everyone of you and that you will cooperate with your government to make Antigua a better, happier and safe place to live! Hope to visit again sometime.
Skerrit forgets that when in 2004 things were bad in Antigua and the Labour Party was in power the people changed them for the UPP 12-4
By the way Mr prime minister, did you follow the process? It was mostly about cleaning the voters list, providing voter identification cards, under the supervision of an independent electoral commission, operating without direction, interference, and/or hindrance from anyone, whether it was the PM ministers, or agents, and operatives of the government or the party.
If you are so confident that you are going to win the election whenever you choose to call it, or whether it calls itself, then ensuring that the voters list be cleansed, and that voter ID cards be provided, should be your priority.
You should also not be afraid to debate the issues publicly. You owe that to yourself, but moreso to the people of Dominica.
Very good points….I totally agree.
Parry, I would tell the Prime Minister, this talk about electing the Labor Party to rescue countries from adversities like alleged corruption, improper governance of the country, no jobs for the young people, bad economy, lying, cheating, stealing does not pertain to the island of Dominica, maybe the islands of Antigua and St. Lucia.
The same malaise which plagued the Baldwin Spencer administration in Antigua, is what we have presently on island: High unemployment, Low Foreign Direct Investment, and acvctivities which were not transparent. Only thing though is that this Dominica Labour Party has plenty more ills and sleazy activities against its mane, that the UPP in Antigua had.
SO CHANGE IS COMING PEOPLE
I CAN’T WAIT SKERRIT!
I WANT TO MAKE MY ‘X’ against this candidate representing you!
Antiguans did yesterday what Dominicans need to do tomorrow, vote them out.
“The government was experiencing some economic and fiscal challenges and the people felt that they needed to bring back UWP to help rescue Dominica because clearly one would understand and appreciated that the economic situation in Dominica deteriorated to an extent and the people felt that they needed UWP” PM Skerrit’s words indirectly. (To be fulfilled when Workers win the next general election)
Ay Ay, Labour ka twavaye in Antigua too?
The United Workers Party will be the vehicle to rescue Dominica from you Skerrit.
Antigua led the way so Dominica is following the wind of change…. P.M change is coming look out…
SPENCER GONE SKERRIT NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THE WIND OF CHANGE IS BLOWING THROUGH THE REGION!!!!!
IT’S TIME FOR CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CHANGE IS NOT AN OPTION. IT’S A MUST!!!!!!!!!!
In Dominica the Labour Party was brought into office to DESTROYING THINGS . It is done by inept, incompetent, clueless, DUNCE and INSULTIVE LEADERS, who are obviously too GREEDY to think properly. Imagine a Minister Of Finance who has absolutely bo knowledge of any business subject, being the Finance Minister of a country! How can the economy move Forward? Imagine a government who came into office and met an international airport at its early stage of construction, and totally abandoned the idesa, only to come back later when OPPOSITION PRESSURE is make to bear on him, and an electiojn defeat is staring him in the face, to say yes we need one. The same goes for the WindsorPark stadium. The structure was bulldozed.
This is why we are asking Skerrit to do himself a favour and to CALL THE ELECTION!
HOW LONG?
NOT LONG!
You think Mr.Brown is in your nonsense. Go get clean and come again. For that matter of fact you won’t even have time to start a relationship because you will suffer the safe fate as Mr.Spencer. Can’t you see the people are tired of leaders like you.
its amazing to listen to pm skerrit indicating that his party will win the up coming elections and increase their seats im left to wonder are Dominicans really foolish or they only want to depend on the pm and his boys for survival.in any case the most high knows best and this time I believe its time for change.
Are you saying that Dominicans are foolish to vote the DLP. How ignorant that statement is.
After doing an analysis of DLP’s management of Dominica anyone who votes DLP would be foolish to do so and if u see that as ignorance then u are foolish too. You see there are two decisions here, one is wise and the other is foolish. Voting DLP is the foolish decision. U get it now, must I continue to spell it out for you? Maybe you too foolish to understand. CHANGE IS A MUST, VOTE WISELY.
Keep them poor to beg for more. They want to stand up in line to beg rather than find a means to create their own means of living. Small business assistance is for those who already have or those who know somebody.
True that…people forget PM..labour always care bout the less fortunate …Always when we die we get our flowers…we know u mean well.
@Poison
Labour in Dominica is an exception. THIS IS A PARTY WHICH INSULTS THE NATION. A GREEDY AND CORRUPT PARTY!
By the way which we are you referring to? Are you one of the GREEDIES, robbing the poor, cheating the blind, and stockpiling your pocket at the expense of the poor citizens of this poor country.?
Well those days are coming to an end.
CHANGE WAS A must in ANTIGUA!!!!
CHANGE IS COMING TO DOMINICA ALSO!
CHANGE IS A MUST!
Greediness cannot exhalteth a Nation.
Righteousness can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOW LONG?
nOT LONG!
They should know that the PM extended his best wishes to the Antigua PM on behalf of all Dominicans. Some of them appear to miss this.
I love Antigua. I have visited there a few times. Those whom I know are very nice people. They are similar to Dominicans and have much in common, as neighors.
So Skerrit mean well when we does not pay taxes for lands “gifted”. Its always tough for lawyers to get things right. He means well when he makes a palace for one man but no hospital. And its not our business whether he steals or whatever he does to get money. Dominicans can go to hell according to him. No constitution can stop him. He means well when he has all the villas and everybody else have to work hard to get a little shack. Oh yeah, million dolllar assets and American baby. Wasn’t he a teacher? Now he making it raining with money. Yes I.
Yeah he mean’s well. You love your pm. Hate yourself. And Astaphan is the less fortunate.
You right Poison. That describes the DLP exactly.
@poison, I can understand why you named yourself “Poison”. I guess you have been poisoned and you want to warn us against being poisoned right?
Sir the ABL operated and won under free and fair election, voter list was cleared up , you had ID for voting.. Open and Transparent election. When you can do suchj sir i will respect you till then dont mix ABL in DLP corruption election
51 likes, not one comment. The UWP is speechless………..
I thought that was the same ADLP that you guys accused of being corrupt and Tony for representing them? Wow.
You have it wrong again Skerritt! Antiguans answered the call for change from nepotism, corruption, rising unemployment, and poverty, as not seen before in Antigua, and so like in Antigua Dominicans, whenever you decide to call the elections, if it does not call itself will be responding to CHANGE.
If you wish change, may it not be a hanger for your jacket and a noose around your neck. Think of the Europeans who trusted Hitler. He promised them better times. They voted for him and what they got for it was total harness and hardship and a mad and godless man who deprived them of their human rights. You should know the rest of this sad history.
Pray to God fervently with love in your heart and ask him to always give Dominica a worthy PM. Never wish for the worst or wish anyone bad for your prayers will not be answered. If they are, fortunate to be answered as you think, you may suffer for it.
I would not vote for a leader who is hoping to be elected, to be vindictive and cannot wait to get at the former PM. It depicts wickedness of heart. Who wants such a leader? Dominicans should fear such a person.
Fear the unknown to a certain degree for you cannot see the future nor can you foretell it. For the present you know what you have. Be satisfied and thank God. Keep this in mind.
This sounds just like the trust we place in DLP 14 years ago, they turn into Hitler on us, u r so right. Change is a must, remove Hitler from office.
That is your opinion. I do hope that we all are prepared to accept the results of the upcoming election.
It is always a wonderful thing to see people come together and speak with one voice. This victory by the Antigua and Barbuda Labour party is simply a message of change is a must. When things are not going well in a country the power of the people through ballot can speak volumes. It does not matter which political party is in power. All we can do now is wish the newly elected Government of Antigua well. The Dominican people should definitely take a page from what transpired in Antigua. If the party in power is not performing or unable to address the issues that are of concern to the electorate simply replace them. Change is change. It does not matter what party.
The Dominica Labour Party (DLP) is a far cry from the Labour Movement of Loblack and others… There is absolutely no comparison.
Antiguans are not talking about party. They are looking at who are the best people who can bring development to them.
Well, in Dominica, team Dominica will bring rescue to us. Thank you, Team Dominica for rising up to the task of bringing Dominica back some pride.
This man just wants to put a spin on things to fool Dominicans. This critical matter of electing a government is not based on a party but rather is based on the team of people with the better vision, the people who can best represent the issues of the Dominican people and the people who can bring development to its country and people. We had the DLP in government for fifteen years and the reality is this Skerrit led government has actually brought us to the lowest any country can become. We have all become poorer except him and his ministers. The prime minister has allegedly become the richest prime minister in the Eastern Caribbean during his reign as prime minister. What have we benefited? Yes, poverty. It is so sad. If this government had done well for Dominica, why are they buying voters and giving bribes to people to vote for them? Why are they not cleaning the voters list and why are they going overseas to bring in illegal voters, people who have been out of Dominica for over five years? Mr Prime Minister, you are just spinning things and hoping that Dominicans will be fooled by what you say. Antiguans wanted change and will not give a Government more than two terms in office. Yes, we want change, too, in Dominica. There are other gifted , intelligent and honest sons and daughters of the soil who must be given an opportunity to turn things around for us in Dominica. We need to be rescued from this DLP whose only concern is for themselves and their families. Dominica belongs to all of us, sir, and we need development. You had fifteen years and this is more than enough. You and the DLP have failed us. Papa Bon Dieu please deliver us.
prime minister Skerrit, it has nothing to do with labour party. It’s about voting out a sitting government of which was incompetent like yours.
you should say it as it is.
an opposition being victorious at the polls. don’t get it twisted.
You have this thing wrong Mr. Skerrit. The trend we are seeing is that of a wind of change blowing over the caribbean. It is the incumbent that is voted out and the opposition voted in. That’s what we saw in Grenada a year ago, that’s what we saw in Antigua yesterday and that’s what Peter Wickham indicated will happen in Dominica during his secret poll. I know you are trying to take as a moral victory but I know all no you KAKAing on you. Like Antigua last night, many of Spencer’s supporters who sang his song and shouted UPP up to the eve of elections voted him out the day of election. Our problem in Dominica is worse than that of Antigua and if Spencer’s supporters voted him out you should expect to be treated similarly by many of your supporters that just do not want to talk now, but will do their talking at the voting booths.
Mr. Skerrit, rejoice now but know whenever you call the election and the results the out, and Hon. Lennox Linton will be elected Prime Minister, you will be home to answer questions you have not been comfortable to answer. Your day is quickly approaching sir!!!
Antiguans wanted change. It isn’t party politics. The issues were debated and the people were fed up with that standstill almost backward economic development so the voted for change. Also they cleaned up their acts and got the electoral department in check….free and fair.
Do that in Dominica, then call elections. If Labor party is the saving party you will not hesitate.
PM Skerritt, this time around it’s the UWP that will rescue things in Dominica. Change is coming. Take note.
Get off your dreams Roosevelt Skerrit. Strupessss.
The people of Antigua and Barbuda are smart enought to change the government every two terms and PM Browne did not import voters to help him win the election. PM Skerrit, this should be an indication to you that the people will make the change when they cannot take any more. If you see this as a sign of victory for you, you are mistaken. All the things you are doing to Dominicans and to Dominica you feel that you will win? PM Browne has respect for his country’s constitution, right now you are a person who will do anything to win this election. Dominicans take a page fromt he people of Antigua book.
We are not Americans. The word is ‘Labour” not Labor.
OK man, you are right. One is the American spelling the other the English one. Ironically the U.S. one is closer to the orginal Latin. Anyway, concentrate on the real issues and let these red herrings be . I prefer them blue!
Dear Mr. Skerrit,
Do you know that the Antigua laborites slogan on their T-shirts was; “We can’t eat concrete, we want money in our pockets?” Does that ring a bell to you Sir?
Why are you and party members not in favor of free and fair elections like the Antigauns Sir?
When are you going to clean the voter list and stop the irregularities that are allegedly taking place in your administration with respect to the electoral office and election Sir?
The honest Dominicans and Lougaoo Mem would be happy to know the answers to the above questions.
Thank You.
,
You need to know that we DLP supporters will put Skerrit back in office whether or not you all foolish people like it or not. TALK TALK TALK in people head, bonjayyyyyyyyyy oyeee
Fine Realist, you can have him. All I know is that if mister win again I’m leaving Dominica, by hook or by crook, I will make it to America or Europe and claim refugee status like our poor African brothers. I so it has come. Let him rule a country of blind no-hopers.
@Realist Oh you idiot and buffoon. Which ‘we’ are you referring to?. Skerrit himself knows that he is spending his last few days as PM. Why do you think that he is so scared at calling the election? Do you have a brain at all. Maybe you are sitting on it though.
Is nt just talk much, do a poll of the comments, is votes that there.
You expect others to feel sorry for them? Do you know why they need money and for what? How many of them completed school, graduated in order to obtain a well-paying job? How many are educated? They want money they should do their utmost to seek employment.
Every country has poor people, many of whom did not apply themselves in school, were not interested in school and lived a leisure life.
Did the government place them in that situation? Today, they are blaming the government for their hardship and downfall. Do you know that everyone is responsible for him/her self and are obligated to fend for themseves? If they have done that and all else fails, then it will be understood that the government will come to their aid. They should first prove that they tried to obtain employment, to help themselves. This is the way I know it and most people know it.
What is wrong with those who refuse to even consider it but expect the government to give them money and all the time? In bygone years their ancestors never got financial help even though they were in need of. Today, some of them get help and they still lack appreciation. Ungrateful people.
Totally agree wt you PM
This is not about party is about change.
