“He was a humble man, a simple man and a friend to everyone.”
Words uttered by Marisa Simelda, daughter of businessman Louis Gabriel following his passing on Saturday, May 14th 2022 at the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) where he was admitted after he caught a rapid pneumonia.
Gabriel, who was retired, served as Managing Director of local bottling and distributing firm, Josephine Gabriel and Company Ltd. for many years.
“My dad was a very charitable man, he did not like to say what he did; he didn’t believe in speaking about helping people; he did not believe in that, not even for his business. He was just a simple man,” Simelda told Dominica News Online (DNO) during an interview on Tuesday.
She said Gabriel a “a very religious person” who loved his church.
According to Simelda, Gabriel also loved his business and had a great passion for Coca-Cola and Heineken.
He is survived by his wife Celia Gabriel, 1 biological daughter and 4 adopted children.
During the country’s Independence Celebrations in 2002, Gabriel was awarded the Sisserou Award of Honour by the Government of Dominica.
DNO extends deepest condolences to the family of the Late Louis Gabriel.

R.I.P. Louis Gabriel. What a lovely tribute. He and his wife Celia were a wonderful couple… I remember her when I used to attend Fatima Church. May they find strength during this difficult time.
One bit of information is missing…how old was Louis Gabriel when he passed away?
Sympathies to the Gabriel family and Josephine Gabriel employees past and present.
