Armour, a Dominican lawyer and former government minister in the Edward Oliver LeBlanc led government, died on Sunday, August 6, 2017. Born Ronald Oliver Paul Armour and nicknamed (R.O.P. Armour) he became a house hold figure in the legal fraternity in Dominica.

Attorney general Levi Peter described the late R.O.P Armour, who also served as a magistrate in Dominica, as “energetic and interesting”. “We met way back when I was a police officer in Dominica and after we worked together as a magistrate; we travelled frequently together and shared many great discussions. He was a good citizen who has made a significant contribution to the life of Dominica,” Peter said.
President of the Dominica Bar Association, Mary A. Roberts, recounted the “good old days of the Bar Association with the likes of the Alleynes, Armours, Dyers, DeFreitases, Ronan David, Cherry Beausoleil.”
The camaraderie she said was then “great”. She also read tributes on behalf of Reginald Armour, a Dominican lawyer based in Trinidad and nephew of the late deceased.
Joffrey Harris, SC, said R.O.P was a “genuine and generous man who had a sharp mind and soft heart.” Henry Dyer who was his school mate at the Dominica Grammar School (DGS) said he was an effective magistrate and he “contributed tremendously to the development of Dominica both in law and politics.”

Glen Ducreay recalls getting a call from Armour in 2015 and from there he said he has never regretted being associated with him. “I wish I had done that ten years ago,” Ducreay said. Ducreay; they served together as government ministers in the E.O.LeBlanc cabinet. “He was a true patriot, he served Dominica before self and family, he was a stalwart in the legal profession, he was fair and firm, was knowledgeable of the law, was not arrogant, was a man of

Magistrate Bernard Pacquette labeled the late R.O.P Armour with whom he worked as a police officer, as a man who was “fair and firm and had a good sense of humour.”
Justice Bernie Stephenson asked the court to stand to observe a minute silence in his honour saying that “death is a sad time in our life.” She asked that the transcript of the special sitting be prepared and certified and delivered to the family of the deceased R.O.P Armour who will be laid to rest after an official funeral service in Portsmouth on Monday, August 21, 2017.
