St.Jean you are just a JACKA,and getting to be a bigger JACKA everyday.Skerrit never denied the fact that he was a French citizen, made so,not by his own free will.Skerrit never admitted having a french passport. It is the opposition who said Skerrit had a French passport. How the FU he is going to produce a French passport when he said he does not have one?The burden is on UWP to prove he has one.In 1995 after the Layou river was blocked,UWP refused to give P H Willians the contract to dredge the river, instead the gave it to Ghadakhan.I agree Ghadakhan should pay the truckers and I support their action. You prodigal son St.Jean, which major road in Dominica was built by local Dominicans?I am sure you remember companies like Rush& Tumpkins,Kolas and Nelotear. You are 70 years old, stop that BS of trying to fool Dominicans. The cause of the kidnapped child is because of the laziness of the police and the fact that UWP destroyed the moral of the police.Mr Blanchard was trained by the 82nd.

@Lin clown, assuming I’ve been fingered as having committed an aggravated assault with a gun and vehemently state that I don’t own a gun, are you saying that law enforcement in Dominca will simply take my word for it or wouldn’t they obtain a search warrant and go search my abode for evidence. If the judiciary is supply going to accept the word of those who are accused of crimes that they have no knowledge and the police won’t conduct an investigation then that confirms that Dominica is a failed state with a dysfunctional police force. Keep in mind that age brings wisdom, the good book says so and society knows so, therefore one day, one day there is hope that you will have wisdom to see corruption and stand up and say so. Even when foreign entities were in charge of road construction in Dominica, public works and other local Dominicans got to enjoy a piece of the pie. Twenty years and you blame a past government for the state of affairs of the police? Shame.

It’s a sad period when a sitting government is not willing to assist the truck owners who play a valuable role in the infrastructure development of the country. Most countries in the world favor it’s locals unless they can’t do the work but would have training in place so nationals can be employed in the development of the country. Talk of self employment by this regime goes out the window when it doesn’t impose it’s leverage to assist entrepreneurs who have spent considerable sums to perform work and render services and after almost six months haven’t been paid. I’m sure their creditors, the banks, gas stations etc are contacting them to pay up and they can’t because they haven’t been paid. They have families to care for. Where is the compassion and conscience of this government. Heaven help us and the truck owners caught in limbo. This needs to end.

The entire Dominican population should have been outraged by the dispossession of the tarish pit which was handed over to a foreigner.

Gardakhan deserves the ire of the truckers. However, Roosevelt deserves the unadulterated wrath of the whole population. He took the parish pit and seemingly give Gardakhan a sweetheart deal.

Question: What is in this champagne transaction for Roosevelt? Would Roosevelt give this foreigner such a big deal without some personal benefit?

This is where we are being let down by all our media houses. Proper investigative reports will unearth anything untoward with the deal.

I will repeat this for emphasis. The media is the most powerful entity in the world. If the media is weak in any country it shows.

The country is grossly underdeveloped; poverty is widespread; the public sector is dysfunctional and unproductive; corruption ubiquitous; crime rampant; the judiciary dispenses injustice.

    That’s Dominica at presence.

Stupes tan! These people are just jokers and hungry jokers with a proven record of giving jokes can never be taken seriously. I like the way they do it in Guadeloupe. When they take action whether is truckers, bus drivers or or others all get affected and if any try to go through they are risking their life. From where I sit I have seen so many dumpers passing well loaded. Give Ma a break jokers and beggars

i fully support the truckers 100% imagine not being paid for 4 months, and having to litterally beg for whats owed to you.. They should stop all work until they get there money in full. Im sure there are no delays in the 64K rent payment every month to the pm.

It looks like all the truckers want is money. Typical of the labor people. Their concerns should go much further. You bark like a dog for a bone but once you get it you forget about the cats who hasn’t eaten. In any this way, drastic change will never come to Dominica.

I wonder where is gone the Dominican accent? The third trucker is right. At list I am not originally from the country he mentioned. It sure not the moment to think in big and keep Dominica simple as it was.
I bought a piece of land in that island for a reason and sure not for exploit. I remember the first mouths it was not so simple for me because my skin color but after a while you saw in me the human being (not so simple in what should be my origin country). I have some good substainable projects and I don’t want nothing in exchange. Hold on and stick together as it was …
15 years and yes I was expecting changes but I start to have an idea. Dominica is still a jewel and don’t sell it and don’t sell yourself. In this 15 years at least I learn a lot and ready to share.

So the truckers say their grievances with Gardakhan is more important than finding the abducted child missing for a number of days now. This is despicable. I’ve lost any sympathy now for these truckers. Gardakhan should pay these guys monies owed to them and tell them that their services are now surplus to requirements, and continue with the foreign truckers, who it appear are more willing to work. It is not Gardakhan’s responsibility to hire local truckers if it is costing his company more than foreign truckers. We are living in a free market economy and not under communism

You argument against the blockage of the tarish pit by the truckers CANNOT stand up to critical scrutiny..

The truckers not caring about the missing child is a farcical assertion. We can chew gum and walk at the same time. Finding Lesbians is a priority. But should we stop everything else in the country until she is found? The truckers would even donate some of their earnings to the ongoing search.

Most governments look out for the best interest of their citizens. They have legislation in place for foreign investors to employ a specific percentage of locals. If not, most of the profits would be repatriated to the investors home of origin. The country would barely benefit.

Your arguments against the truckers are coming from a mind pregnant with puerility and ignorance.

What use would the money be to the missing child if by delaying the search for her is preceding the truckers getting paid to make a donation to contribute towards her search? The time the truckers are spending blocking access to the tarish pit is valuable time that can be used helping to find the little girl. If that was your daughter in the plight of this innocent child you would be singing a different tune.

I guess you want the parliament, all civil servants, all employees at private businesses, all Fisher folk, prison officers, airport workers, day-care workers, in effect the entire country to stop whatever they are supposed to be doing and go and assist in the effort to find the missing girl. Way papa!! Well look foolishness.

All the imported workers require work permits to be able to work in Dominica. The government is therefore complicit in the squeezing out of local truckers by providing so many work permits for foreign workers. So government could easily solve this by revoking, or not renewing, work permits. The question to ask is, does Gardakhan have the government have some power over the government that has the government bending to his actions.

That last question has to be rhetorical. It’s absolutely conspicuous to even a dumb man.

Where is the outrage by the citizenry for their government to sell or give this spot of land, and very useful resource to a foreigner? Couldn’t it be leased or sold to local investors?

The saddest commentary about this is the Dominican people. They remain astonishingly silent, unperturbed, as Roosevelt ‘give away’ their patrimony to foreigners. Nothing a corrupt and hateful government likes more than a docile, gullible, ignorant electorate. Nothing a government fear more than a well informed, restive electorate.

Positive changes would never come to Dominica unless the people rise up in massive numbers and skow Roosevelt that he is the servant and the citizens are the BOSS.

Always remember this, Dominicans. The power of the people is greater than the people in power.

The opposition made a claim that Skerritt was in possession of a foreign passport and was a French citizen when he became the prime minister of Dominca. The partisan judge in the case refused to ask Skerritt to present his passport for court to verify the assertion but instead wanted the opposition to break into the man’s house and get the passport as proof. It shouldn’t be a surprise that Skerritt continues to favour none nationals to build the country over nationals because he was taught from an early age to not love Dominca and so he simply uses the country for what he can get from it whilst pretending to be a patriot. By his actions we know he ain’t Dominca first. All other leaders in other countries ensure that their citizens get a sizable piece of the pie of national development except Skerritt who was a French citizen when he ascended to the leadership of Dominca. His allegiance is clearly not with Dominicans. Why does he hate Dominicans so?

What greed? Roosevelt favours foreigners. He reserves the most and best local assets and resources for foreigners. The proof is in plain sight.

*$Billions of CBI in foreign hands
*No bid public contracts to Chinese, Barbadians, people of Arab descent
*Chinese names on important public edifices
*A foul mouth man of Arab descent as his SC.

You will have to wilfully suspend common sense to deny that Roosevelt treats Dominicans as second class citizens in their own land.

I personally know two of these truckers. A few years ago whilst constructing my new house I had a written contract with them. At week end I paid for the week and they told me they want $25 per load more because of this and that. I told them there wasn’t a single cent more coming their way. They said they wouldn’t come back on Monday and complain to their PM about me. I supplied them with the card of my lawyer and told them, THEIR PM should get in touch with him. They never turned up the following Monday but on the Friday one of them came back and said he would do it for the previously agreed price. I told him to go away and never come back to my site. Crooks they are, like their CM. They believe he looks after them but of course he doesn’t. To him they are only of importance at election time. I’ve got no pity for them. One as bad as the other.

Under Roosevelt’s stewardship of Dominica, foreigners are given preference over bona fide Dominicans. Roosevelt has a proclivity for everything exotic.

    Here is the indisputable evidence:
*His children are American citizens by birth
*Bajans, Chinese, Arabs, and other foreigners are given first choice to the choicest pieces of real estate in Dominica
*Chinese names adorned important public buildings
*Foreigners sell our passports and one controls billions of the CBI funds

How could permission be granted to this foreign contractor to bring his trucks in the island when there are more than enough local truckers to do the jobs?

In any other Caribbean jurisdiction, this foreign trucking business would be made inoperable by the citizens. Dominicans are a unique people for their tolerance of mean spiritedness, deprivation, dispossession, and improvishment imposed on them by the nakedly corrupt leader who practises plantation politics.

Kudos to you young lady reporter. Excellent journalism. You stuck to the pertinent issues at hand, and did not encroach beyond your bounds.

I’m very much impressed with most of your live reports, for, I have followed you. Keep up this high standard of journalism.

My commendation was directed to this ONE female reporter. Most of the others are cowardly, boring and lazy.

I have often repeated that Mr. Lennox Linton is the only bona fide, investigative journalist in Dominica. DNO, Kairi, DBS, the GIS and other pretenders desecrate the profession.

My praise was narrowly directed at this one particular female reporter that did a comprehensive and splendid job during her interview with the truckers.

Presently, journalism is at its lowest ebb in Dominica. So much corruption in government and not one investigative report by the news media.

When DNO gave that frivolous reason for publishing the Chinese ambassadors false assertions without questioning the veracity of the statements, that floored me. But, at the same time, they have no hesitation in attacking me. However, I’m fearless and would not be dissuaded from calling a snake a snake.
