Lockhart-Hypolite vows to deliver ‘progress not commess’

Lockhart-Hypolite surrounded by supporters at her launch on June 2, 2019

The Dominica Labour Party candidate for Roseau South, Chekira Lockhart-Hypolite has told constituents that a vote for her will ensure progress and not commess.

Hypolite was officially launched on the Newtown Savannah on Sunday.
She said the Roseau South Constituency lacked proper representation over the last five years and she will change that.
“I am here to deliver progress and not commess. You need representation that is strong and effective. You need representation that is competent and genuine. One that will make a difference”, she said.
Hypolite also used the opportunity to make it clear that her decision to enter the political arena is not for personal gain but a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of people.
“We need to eliminate the dishonesty that has embarrassed us for the last five years”, she added.
She also promised to work towards uniting and reviving the Roseau South Constituency.
“My journey is based on truth and not malice and mischief”, she stated.
Meanwhile, a Roseau South Development Plan is among the things Hypolite says she will implement if she becomes the next MP for Roseau South.
“I have divided Roseau South into a seven-zone district. Each will have a construction coordinator and assistants.  They will also have a team of tradesmen,” she explained.
This team, according to Hypolite, will ensure that the needs of the residents are assessed and delivered efficiently and in a transparent manner.
“No one shall be left behind”, she insisted.
Hypolite is coming up against what can be deemed tough competition from the main opposition contender, Joshua Francis who was able to break a DLP stronghold in that constituency.
In fact, Francis, as challenger, received 2,185 votes while DLP incumbent, Ambrose George recieved 1, 948 votes in the 2015 general elections.

A representative whose party is not the governing party is helpless except in mobilizing the constituency into activism. Joshua has been the constituency representative for the last five years. However labor has been at the helm for two decades. Did you expect him to rob the treasury to bring improvement to the constconstituency? Surely not. And so labor as they have done punished the constituency because of their democratic choice. You have been an insider to the party which stagnated the constituency and you never raised a finger. Tell me now what progress and development that you can bring to the constituency? Too late!! You would have been much more credible had you called out your same old leader and told him that the constituency is a part of Dominica. Instead you were part of the misery that the people faced. Sorry Ma’am your words and intentions at this time are like the wind. Labor has outlived its importance and usefulness. Change is a MUST and you parare not part of that.

Where is jobs. The Labour party has been interested increasing salaries for workers in Dominician. So it seems that their agenda is to keep the people of Dominica in eternal poverty

    Questions.
    1) Is she a candidate for the opposition? Because she is speaking about lack of representation for the last five years.

    2) The dishonesty she is speaking about, who is she referring to.

    3) About the implementing of plans, did she not hear what the Minister of health said. Cabinet could not come to a decision about the marigot hospital?

    4) Did she hear what the Prime Minister said? He runs things in Dominica.

So how and when will she implement her…

Why did she see it fit to make it clear that she entered the political arena not for personal gain, is it because this is all that she is about the personal gain? Skerrit has made it clear that he run tings, and this woman can’t challenge him, after 20 years dlp could not address the issues of this constituency and others how will they now address these issues in 5 more years. Waste of time in my opinion.

I have heard this song before. Just a faked list of spurious promises. The lady is disingenuous. If this particular constituency lacks development, the party in power should shoulder the blame. They have access to the public purse and not the opposition. How can any sensible person take this lady serious? Again, it is Skerrit who runs things, she has no authority to do anything without the ‘King’s’ approval. Skerrit thinks that he is indispensable but let me tell him that there are many indispensable men right now residing in the cemetery. Reject these money grabbing, avaricious, uncaring, foul-mouthed debutantes who have an insatiable appetite for money. They are goal diggers. The people’s interest is a remote distance from their minds.

DLP is the quintessential commess in Caribbean politics, so you are steeped in commess. Are you dreaming!!! Additionally DLP is one man. You have absolutely no say in what Skerrit thinks or does .So your empty rhetoric has to be treated for what it is. .
You are a very weak candidate..
Jahisiah was better than you by a very long way, and you will be defeated by more than 500 votes.

:?: This woman is definitely using the word comess which is embedded within the one-man rogue regime prime mistake! First of all,she started on the on the continuous wrong footing of corrupt practices of the rogues she’s representing, with the distribution of funds to constituents. This is one of the first comess she should seek to eliminate! arm-bruise represented the people from 2000-2014 and didn’t make any positive impact to the people of the Roseau South Constituency, but rather brought the constituency to the dogs! How will she make any positive difference with the same bad-leadasship at the helm :?: She has joined the same comess which she will only make worse!!!

  15. My Little Take
    June 4, 2019

Let’s be real laborites. Is Chekira running as leader of the DLP and potential PM? Is Chekira running as candidate for a new party? Do you believe there is one thing Chekira can do that Ambrose George, once Finance Minister and Deputy leader of the DLP, will do?
Look, regardless of what Skerrit and them say, it’s the same Skerrit as PM for 15 yrs and in power for 20 yrs, same DLP, same Blackmore same everything. My people, how could it be a failure of cabinet in 13 constituencies, for the past 20 yrs? The DLP has failed MISERABLY and it’s time we put out these jokers! As long as Skerrit, Blackmore, Reggie, and others are running things according to Skerrit, Dominica will go nowhere because they are not there to take DA forward. Chekira is running for two reasons and the world knows that: 1. For he BIG CHEQUE 2. To protect Skerrit and crew from spending much of the remainder of their lives being able to walk on the streets of Dominica or anywhere, like I and others are enjoying

On Sunday, Cherika Hypolite advised Hon. Lennox Linton, should his party loose the general election, he should go to the State College, because he needs to educate himself and education their is free. Is she aware her boss was a school teacher, with no experience in business or rather the commercial sector, where as, Hon. Lennox Linton worked `as a former journalist, radio and tv presenter and corporate executive.

    Progress and not Commess?
I wish these Labour people would tell us what progress Skerrit and his administration has made in the last 20 years?
Maybe for them the phrase progress means: Ross leaving, building a coffee processing plant but never putting it to use, building an abattoir but never putting it to use, build a hotel in Portsmouth and half way through stop, demolishing the Marigot hospital but never rebuild it, start a geothermal plant and after spending millions letting it deteriorate again…
Is that what the DLP and Skerrit call progress? You know what, that is exactly what I call commess!!! Any more evidence required as to the uselessness of this regime?

Let’s have it then!!! Make a little list! What is the progress? Progress to you is going to the red clinic every month and coming out with a few dollar. And best of all, you did even have to work for it. That is the progress most of you are referring to.

For 19 years this man/clown has been in office, so where have you been to stop this commess going on for over 19 years. Talk is cheap, you are new this political thing, to have Skerrit as your role model is a big failure. Skerrit is a failure, knows not development and please doo not rely him, he is illiterate to social-economic development. Our nature isle is suffering and it is sad that we have people out there helping this failed corrupt worthless Labour Governemnt and failed immature Skerrit ruin our island day after day. We now need decency in governance and no Red Clinic where Skerrit abused and reduced to our mothers to…
