One man is said to be in critical condition at the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital following an accident which occurred in Massacre on Thursday night.
The accident involved a Yamaha MT motor cycle owned and ridden by 28 year old Julian Burton of Mahaut and a Honda Civic owned and driven by 26 year old Jahnaya Henry of Campeche, Grand Bay.
According to police Henry who was driving in a southerly direction upon reaching opposite Debras Bar suddenly turned right into the path of the motor cycle which was being ridden in a northerly direction resulting in a collision.
Burton was thrown some 55 feet unto a parapet on the western side of the road.
He received injuries to his neck, both arms and back and was transported to the D.C.F hospital.
The motorcycle accident is so horrible and pathetic, one of my relative accident with a bike, he is no more, wants to say all of the bikers, always drives very carefully, lost someone is very painful
Motorcycle accident is so much horrible and pathetic.
Bikers need to learn that bike accidents are usually CRITICAL or FATAL…your body has NO protection. Who’s FAULT it is, cannot REVERSE loss of bodyparts, loss of movement, or loss of LIFE.
More and more that slave plantation mentality island is becoming discouraging for those who are civic and civilised minded to live in. There’s so much lawlessness and indiscipline on that island making impossible and hard for peace loving people to stay there. I’m not at all surprised at the way the accident happened especially by someone from that village called Grand Bay. These are roguish people who thinks that anything goes! I hope he’s charged and locked up and never be allowed to drive anymore The Biker and family should sue the driver of the car!!!
It is interesting to note that whereas a driving licence issued by Barbados, a fellow Caricom member, is readily transferable into U.K. licence the same does not hold for such a document issued by Dominica and one would have to pass a driving test and written exam in the U.K. again in order to qualify. What does that say about our standards and the competence of our authorities?
I never imagined Kalinago territory had illiterates like you “Kalinago Justice”. If indeed you are from there, then you are a disgrace to our native people. If you are not and using that name as a cover up I apologize to the kalinago and shame on you. How on earth, can u seclude accidents to grand bay drivers? Do you have a track record of the amount of road fatalities in Dominica that has nothing to do with grand bay drivers. We (grand bay drivers) are called the best in Dominica. I understand you are upset about the situation and so am I but ruling out grand bay drivers is just so dumb. You sound illiterate to say the least.
Mr. James, justice was speaking from experience. A country where only the brave survive. The people have no home training, manners and respect for one another. BICYCLES ride with no head lights and bells. Car drivers or bikes, when approaching a junction or cross road, you slow down, do they do that. Both bike and car were at fault so they pay for their mistakes. If only they had learn to lisson and obey. Too late shall be the cry.
Carib Territory, quite stereotyping the village of Grand Bay. There’s lawlessness in every village. The actions of one individual does not portray the actions of everyone else.
DNO its not fair to make such a statement….”Henry who was driving in a southerly direction upon reaching opposite Debras Bar suddenly turned right into the path of the motor cycle which was being ridden in a northerly direction resulting in a collision.”
In all fairness is best the article reads “based on eyewitnesses” and then continue with all you statement. But putting it out there in the media just like that it sound conclusive and that is what actually happened. Unless if the person writing this article was in fact at the scene at the time of the accident and giving an account of what he/she actually saw.
ADMIN: Thank you for pointing that out. This account is from the police statement. The line has been updated to make that clear.
Dno get your info correct eh. Se padna pullnup by his bike ..he was not riding at the time.
ADMIN: This is from the police statement on the incident.
BIKE AGAIN WILL NEVER LEARN,AND NO LAWS.What a damn shame.
Civic turned SUDDENLY INTO THE PATH OF THE MOTORBIKE.
What Bikeman have to learn? Civic’s fault!
Sot!
Shame on you, read to understand before making mazee with yourself.. ……
YOU AN IDIOT????? “suddenly turned right into the path of the motor cycle” did you not read this part??? once you people read bike all of a sudden it the bike fault! stupes
D mad one from Loubiere doh crashing at all
Did you not “READ” that the car suddenly turned onto the wrong side of the road? causing the bike to slam into him? how is that the bikers fault. All drivers must follow proper protocol when using the roads, and stop blaming bikers for every accident.
Ps: Comprehension is a must.
