I cant understand how any Dominican can justify the fatal shooting of an innocent Dominican man at point blanc range. That is plain and simple MURDER and everyone should help to bring the murderer to justice. I wonder when will those opposition gang bangers show more empathy for victims of crimes. They are just showing that their negative assault on Skerrit is not justified. They are a bunch of BIGTIME fakes, Fakes FAKES…… fAKE SHOWBOATERS. They are not interested in any ones welfare or development.

just look at the pics on this guys facebook page… and tell me if this was not inevitable. Parents … take a look.. young men .. take a look. all the signs are there. Bad as you think you are.. Badness can’t stop a bullet.

tell that to those followers of the opposition gang bangers who are walking with their eyes closed to deadly confrontations with armed policemen equip for riot action. Badness cannot stop tear gas or bullet. the police ask you to move you move or face the consequences. These gangers will set you up as a human sacrifice as they did Timothy on MAY ’79 or as they did to Eric ,Eddie and James in FEB ’63.
We know who stoned the Ministry on MAY’79, burn the Registry and beat up Ferdinand Frampton. We know who stoned Bogar Roy house at Canefield and Mr and Mrs Moise house. etc. We are told that a guy has pictures in Curasao (vedeos maybe), As hard evidence . His parents hails from Coulibistrie. We are working on a CNN piece that will rival the CBI passport piece. Or its report on Maria. Due as soon as election is called. So DNO. stay tuned for these scoops . Ok.

No matter what may think of him, no one has the right to take someone’s life. That’s why we have a codified set of laws on the books and police officers to investigate and a judicial system to address matters of criminality. When and where will this senseless killing end? I guess there will be another killing to justify this one and then after that another one to address that one. No end in sight. Welcome to the next level.

Anthony P, that is very sound reasoning. Every life is sacred and no man has a right to flippantly take another person’s life. We do not live in a laissez faire system where vigilante justice prevails. If these targeted killings are allowed to continue dire consequences lie ahead for all. Law enforcement officers have to confiscate these illicit guns and ammunition. Too many guns are in the hands of happy trigger morons.

It doesn’t make it right before God because Louisiana in the U.S and Brazil in South America, observed carnival. When comes with God we are not dealing in a Democratic process.
In the U.S. the Democrats in the Senate voted against a bill that would prevent a Dr.from killing a baby after birth. That also is devilish.
Now Mr. or Miss lbo France, you calls it camaraderie and revelry, but the thing is God Almighty said through Paul the apostle.
“I have told you before, and I Am telling you again, people who are taking part in these evils (including revelry) will not inherit MY kingdom Galatians 5:21.
So the question is,if you will not be in God’s heaven after death, where will you be.? The ball is in your court. The choice is yours. But if I were you, Christ would be my choice.. Amen?

Salisbury is always a beautiful, peaceful village with hard working people. In Salisbury has a group of boys that is terrorizing the people in the village. They rob people at gun point, they breaks into people’s houses and they kills one another. It is just one group of low thugs that wants fast money, and do not want to work. I am so sorry for this boy parents that they been living a miserable life because of him, but sometimes they better off dead. We need to take back Salisbury, this is three thugs less. First was Byron. It is also presumed that he’s the one who killed Byron and he just got bailed for the death of the Jolly boy on the SAvanna. The gun was his best friend and he died by it. I am not rejoicing over his death and his parents pain, but he was terrorizing the village. More will be followed, this gang have to end, one at a time.

Install cctv cameras all over dca. It’ll make policing much easier as it regards to catching the bad guys. It’s like we’re still in the dark ages. Install the thing. Dca is very small at least start with Roseau first.

    • Ibo France
      March 5, 2019

The installation of CCTV cameras may have its positive effects. These devices capture the crime after it has been committed. They do not prevent crime. There should be preventative measures in place also, specifically, more mobile and foot patrols, neighborhood watches, police and the community should build a more trusting relationship, confiscation of illegal firearms and ammunition, etcetera. It’s hard work but it must be done to bring back peace and tranquility to the country.

      • XTE
        March 6, 2019

Actually CCTV cams can be a deterrent to crimes. Most people who commit crimes want to remain anonymous. If they know cams will reveal who they are, it does force them to think twice. And of course if they commit a crime and are caught because they were picked up by cameras, once successfully prosecuted then they wont be roaming free to commit other crimes.

Where are the true Patriots of Bawi it’s time to put the brakes on “Hooliganism” gone wild; where are the good Police officers from Bawi, who used to patrol the village on foot and mingle with the villagers; gangsters only thrive when the police loose control of positive and dynamic policing; Spaggs time to bring together all civic minded people (retired and serving police as well) to discuss the way forward; get the Chief of Police to station aggressive and thoughtful police officers in Bawi; meantime i’d recommend Comrade Weeks (who has earned the respect of Dominicans) to head a task force to restore the good police/public relations which once existed in Salisbury; before it gets completely out of hand; hooliganism has nothing to do with civil protest.

KID, you need help. You are totally consumed with political animus. Your unmitigated support for the outgoing Deceitful Lowlife Party has severely disrupted your ability to think rationally. Most of the violence and murders are caused by idle minds who are unemployed and live in a perpetual state of hopelessness. They have turned to drugs to drown their daily sorrows and guns to exact vengeance on a society that has failed them. Your comments of assigning blame to a member of the opposition is just asinine.

Heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased. Any unnatural death is cause for concern. I hope the perpetrator(s) will be caught and severely punished. The gun is the weapon of choice of these miscreants. I wish that the police would beef up their surveillance and intelligence to greatly reduce the inflow of illegal guns and ammunition into the country. The borders are much too porous.

The police is not concerned. Their concern is to show up in numbers at opposition party protests/meetings/gatherings, and to teargass them..That’s why I am so happy that Skerrit is paying them no mind re their medical insurance…!!! Well done lazy Skerrit.

The top echelon of the Police Force acts like Sherrit’s lapdog. Politics and not merit got them to their present positions. They are lightning quick, heavily armed and too eager to use physical and deadly force on members of the opposition and their supporters. Teargas is only used as a last resort during violent protests. Imagine these law enforcers who are supposed to protect the civilians using poisonous teargas on innocent women, unarmed men and vulnerable children. A Police Force or a government that cares would not engaged in such dastardly actions against their law abiding people.

Carnival has everything to do with the emancipation of slavery, and nothing to do with the devil! Once again the idea that is a devil thing came from Roman Catholicism!

Right this Minuit there is masquerade (Carnival) in the streets of Louisiana in the United States, I have not heard of anyone getting shot in their head; over the years I observe Louisiana carnival where millions of people congregate for the festivities, dressed in all color of costumes and style I have yet to here anybody getting killed.

Brazil  Carnival is one right this minute millions of people are in the streets celebrating the occasion. Brazil’s carnival is the largest on the planet, yet they do not kill people in carnival, on carnival day.

Dating back to 1950, or there about we had our first murder in Carnival, when some mentality deranged animal set a man costume on fire killing him.

Even Athie Martin brother was set on fire too, he lived! We Dominicans are evil!

      That’s it!

        Hi Francisco

As simple as this may appear, it is a symptom of what goes on everyday on this site.

When we want to pontificate on every subject we have to try to get our facts straight. I believe the carnival fire was in 1963, subject to correction. I believe Athie’s brother was Eddie Martin. He did not survive. I think three young men died from that fire and a number of others got disfiguring burns on the face and other parts of the body. Not a nice story to remember at all.

Not taking issue with your comments except for the last sentence. You and others must always speak for yourselves and not for me.

        March 4, 2019

Sorry you have it wrong, Carnival is no way connected to emancipation. Carnival is a European festival of catholic origin. In fact it started as a food festival. Go read up on its history.

“When we want to pontificate on every subject: ”  You see Barbara in terms of pontification I do not know in what context you are using that word. In the first place I am not a pope;  therefore, I cannot be a pontiff! I stated something as I remembered it. Now you may remember the incident differently; it is simply a matter of your opinions, unless you can produce a written document to substantiate your claims that the fire was in 1963; I must remain firm on what I believe to be true and correct. Now; if memory serves me correct.I believe in 1963, or later a white tourist was gunned down in Carnival by a Raster Man; Desmond Trotter was said to be the shooter, as a matter of fact he was convicted for the crime and spent almost twenty-five years incarcerated for that crime. Now I do not have any  written records of the fire; nevertheless, it was in the 1950’s. I may contact Athie for verification.

Okay Barbara, this Bishop here Pontiff Francisco Telemaque made some inquires in regards to the time the barbaric murderer set the people on fire. Now even the  person who gave me the following information do not remember the year. So,you might be correct!Nevertheless, here are the names of the souls which perished in the fire:.Rupert Lance. Rosie: Rosie was a young woman.Erick Shillingford.George James.Eddy MartinSo, you can stay there and pontificate now that I doh know what I talking about eh. Now the Trotter thing happened in the 1970’s and not in the 60’s. One way or the other Barbara, your your Dominica people are wicked murderers eh!Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah! And by the way, how you telling me that I comment one very thing as an authority; when you are the same!Okay, I taking a backseat  and let you be the authority on all things nuh!Happy last day carnival: no more killing for today!

I do not know where you got your inform from: Nonsense I do not indulge; as a boy I attended Roman Catholic Church, as the rest of Dominica. There were two dominant religion in Dominica, they were Roman Catholic, and the Methodist. The Anglicans came however, never had a large congregation, the Adventists were much more successful. If  Carnival was rooted in Catholicism, why would the Roman Catholic Church in Dominica forbid their flowers to participate in carnival!Stop talking nonsense!West Indians took Carnival to the city of Nothing Hill: do not try to contradict people when you do not know what you are talking about. Carnival came about as a result of the emancipation of Slavery! The Roman Catholic Church condone and supported slavery.Masquerade was played in Brazil, New Orleans Trinidad & Tobago, and the rest of the Windward islands. It went to Antigua when the late Oscar Mason visited Dominica Carnival: Let me get back on that!

Barbara …….You are right. All your facts are correct. But is just goes to show how wicked we can be to our own people. But the bad thing is no one was brought to trial, there was no justice. The Facts were on the streets but no eye witness was coming forward. The biggest blow of all, two brothers Clayton Shillingford and Arthie Martin , two so called advocate of justice who are seeking high profile social status and national credibility ,have nothing to say. And there is no evidence of their active voice or protest to demonstrate their interest in finding and exposing the murderer. They are fakes. Have you ever burn a finger by accident, not bad for hospital treatment, or get smoke in your eyes. Can you imagine burnt to death while alive ? Those 3 young men were everybody’s heroes with so much potential. But those two brothers could not care less. Now they are out for Sherrit That was 56 years ago. our young PM is under 50. We always talk about the human right abuses and social injustice of the slave trade. This wickedness was aggression from white foreigners who were the slave masters. We seem to close our eyes, walking with our eyes closed, to the HALF white colonial land masters who replaced the white owners. Those were Dominican born brothers who had foreign white fathers and who started as “OVERSEARS ” and became owners by grabbing the lands. This was the situation of abuse from the end of slavery in the 1800’s to 1960. But the “Roseau elite “, or should I say wanabee social aspirants , just love to ignore that era. How dare you call the largest cultural explosion of the country ‘THE DEVIL’S FRAST’. Do you know that there are more bad people inside the church than outside? Carnival is a celebration of our culture on a national scale. It’s a time of camaraderie and revelry , showcasing of our innate talents, putting away of all the built up internal and external tensions . It’s one big national party. It’s a time when the haves and the have-nots, the young and the aged, put aside their inhibitions and have a superlative time.

Remember the Biblical story of the Grand carnival/ orgy at the golden calf , what became of them?
Ps. From a Biblical point of view, the majority were always dead wrong…..

      • March 4, 2019

        @Ibo France

Great explanation, but then again, how senseless it seems that we go back right after carnival, picking up all the stress, tensions, distress, and despair, which the world is offering; simply to bring it back out the next year–so when does the peace, tranquility, and relaxation begin?

Lent follows carnival, starting with Ash Wednesday, but who in our country really understands the meaning of those 6 or 7 weeks observance?

Speaking about murder (taking people’s Life), what causes those who commit that crime to continue with that evil conduct, if it is factual that carnival is a time for detox from the build-up of stress and tensions of Life, for the past year?

We need to come to terms with the fact that the World is full of weapons of the flesh against the Spirit, where Life belongs. Excuses for taking the side of the World will do no good, for there is no victory, as the World and everything in it is passing away.

Like it or not its the devil’s feast duhh

    • Dan Tanner
      March 4, 2019

The devil is mythology. And the feast is nothing more or less tan the human tendency have enjoyment before fasting. A comment below ignorantly mentions the golden calf (from the time of Moses) and conflates it wrongly with the custom of Lent (which is not at all biblical; it was started by the Catholic church hundreds of years after the death of Jesus and thousands of years after Moses lived).

That is the thing about religion. It’s made up and ignorant people cleave to it.

      • March 5, 2019

Hello Dan Tarner! You may not remember me, but I never forget. You and I went back and forth on “Dominica News Weekly” about that same “religious subject” I was trying to convince you that God wants nothing to do with religion. He wants a Love relationship with His people through our faith in the blood of the Son, His very Person, who is Jesus, the Christ, the Light of the World

I am glad to read that you are canceling Moses and Jesus–the story of the Bible– from those manmade teaching or doctrines of religion. Sadly those teachings/doctrines and practices dominate the World, just like the Roman Catholic Chuch and its false doctrines also dominate the mind of its extremely huge congregation –but the shepherd will pay

      • Francisco Etienne-Dods Telemaque

        “The devil is mythology. ”

Well, you may believe that the devil is a myth, if that is your belief. I may say you probably do not believe in God either; nevertheless, if you believe in God you had better believe the devil do exists, as a matter of fact he (the devil is the one influencing your mind that he is mythical). The devil exists:

The Bible teaches he is the “god’ of this earth, and they Bible plainly said to some people; you are of your father the devil.I am not going to preach, but sir as you see the Sun raise from the East, and sets in the West, if you believe that, believe the devil is real!
