The way the medical system is in Dominica, people have to “pray” that they do not sick. People can die of a simple Flu here.

People don’t realize that the problem we face is more than just murder, theft, ect. Instead the problem is much bigger “Sin” Man was born with a sinful nature and he does need someone who is bigger than his sin nature” He needs God”my friends we need to turn to GOD let him change our life.

So, with all the roads they are building, how does that “improve” ones life when he/she has little or no medical facilities to treat a bruise? A congress woman got shot in her head with massive head and brain injury, and mamzel still on planet earth. Keep your wealth and give me health. It’s time for Dominica to step up and build better medical facilities, if they are really serious about the improvement of the country.

I’ve met and spoken to many people! Dominicans as well as strangers/foreigners who would love to come back home for good, or to visit; but their main concern is the lack of medical readiness on the Island. Priority is a word worth looking at.

Guess you have to be “somebody” to get flown next door for treatment. Some people are “nobodies.”

May God have mercy on us as a people and nation for our lusting after blood in the things we watch on television, read in books and on the internet – and our hypocrisy when the “unnatural” consequences of the consumption of violence hits us where it hurts – not in a scary movie, but in a real life drama seen before the naked eye – poor children, and people dead. Yes, the persons who perpetuate the violence through the choice to kill are at fault; but subliminally, others who provide the fodder of violence that continues to desenstize us are also to blame. If we are paying money to go to the movies or buy the books that go against God’s commandments, we are to blame for helping to produce the profit that keeps violence in our faces: on T.V., in the movies, on radio, on the Internet…I am so sorry for this devastating event. “Lord, rid us of obtuseness”, the going on with our daily life when we hear such a terrible event occurring in around us. Let us stop and pray immediately to ask You to stop the violence.” “Lord, hear my prayer.”

Some people do not read, some do not go to movies, some are just insane. I do not believe people commit crimes because they read, go to movies or watch television. These do not make people commit crimes. There are hard core criminals out there, period. If I watch a movie that involve theft, rape, murder, etcetera, I will NOT go and commit these crimes; however, some people watch the “how to get away”, I watch how to PROTECT MYSELF. No one should die a horrible and senseless death. I feel for the family of the deceased, and I hope the CULPRIT/COWARD is CAUGHT. Do not blame movies and television, blame the CRIMINALS.

why you all did not send him to Guadeloupe/martinique, like your minister of health did when he had his heart burn and head-ache?.You all gave the poor guy a confirmed flight in the departure lounge at pmh instead

Would you have paid for it? You could have volunteered to cover the cost of sending him overseas. Don’t come now and say it after he died.

I agree but I am not even sure if you have a resident neuro surgeon on island.

      • May 27, 2013

Poor choice of words. There are reasons that prompt an overseas trip, this man probably would be saved, or not. Do they choose who should or should not receive treatment abroad?

I believe if there is an emergency that requires treatment abroad it should be done. Who makes the decision?

      May 28, 2013

I might be wrong but I think the minister could afford to pay for his treatment overseas.
