Marcellin calls on Dominicans to ‘get up, stand up’ for change

Marcellin speaking in New Jersey

United Workers Party (UWP) Candidate for the Vieille Case Constituency Clement Marcellin has called on Dominicans to, “keep the hope of a better Dominica alive.”

He was speaking during a meeting held in the Bronx, New York on the weekend.

“Keep the hope of a better Dominica alive,” he said. “Dominica is in a state where the economy is in disorder and our livelihood is once again challenged.”

According to Marcellin, it’s time for change.

“It’s time for us to move to a new level,” he stated.

He called on Dominicans across the globe to get up, stand up, “let’s toil, let’s work hard, let’s dream big because we are now responsible for preserving a Dominica which is geared for our future generations.”

“We are now charged with the responsibility of protecting our nation for our children’s children,” he added.

Marcellin went on to say that people are free to make their own decisions and choices, “but it should not be at the expense of our future generation since we are mandated to do so with pride and dignity.”

“Search deep within ourselves and ask what is it that we want?” he asked.

Marcellin urged Dominicans to look deep and analyze every single word that is being uttered on any platform upon which they can make a firm decision.

I enjoyed this young man’s words. He will go places so neutral in aiming to have people vote for the candidate of their choice. Everyone is entitled to that with respect. Young man God bless you for such wise words. This is what politics is about respect. Stay focused U are wise!

What is the ecomony of this country after 20years? I can remember a few years ago this country had a very good export market.
Today, what is this country exporting? We are increasing the number of imports in reference of exports. We can go to the supermarkets and as we look around it tells a story of our economy in this country.

You guys complained UWP left 500 mil in debt. Today we are past 1.6 billion. How long do you think it would take to get out. Dont tell me to develop we have to gain debt because tbats labourites excuse for debt today. If thats yall logic why were you complaining about 500 million 20 years ago. 20 years ago we had debt but production and exports were high. Todaywe have tripple the debt with production and export near zero. It will take Dominica probably 200 years and several generations to recover from 20 years of madness and stupidity.

Skerrit created an attitude in Dominica he cannot control now. Some Dominicans have a want attitude and not a need attitude. You need medical help I can understand a Govt is helping you. You cannot want a car and go to the govt. A car is a want not a need, Dominica have buses that runs point A to point B daily. You cannot and should not pay a man to build his own house after you provide him with materials. You in office for 19 years a father should not be sleeping with his child on camera and get away with it. Your explanation in 2019 should not be we don’t have camera laws on the books. Protect the kids, label the streets for your people and tourists, train your public and private sector on customer service, train your police officers on how to be loyal to the police force and not party, educate your officers on road safety so they can educate the public. You have a speed bump next to the Roseau airport that is not label my brother almost broke his neck because he is not from…

0Yahking he is on the right side, the side of country. Unlike you, he is not bomboomflying Skerrrit for money, he has principle. Just imagine with all his money Skerrit cannot find men and women of the calibre that broke Lennox has found. Who wants to be on the side of that bag of coshonie called the Skerrit Family Party? Wrong side you say we. Any Dominican that repeat that rubbish is just a beggar, taking sides for crumbs.

    • For money?
      July 9, 2019

All Skerrit can offer him is money. Clement knows there are things more important than having money. Matthew 6:19-20
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Mr. Marcelin, I have searched deep within and with a smile, and great joy on Election Day, I will place my X next to the shoe. Two days after Hurricane Maria, I walked from Shawford to Wallhouse to check on my mother. As I tread through numerous slides, I called on the Almighty for strength to reach my destination. I shed tears for Dominica, while on my journey, because we were facing a crisis. That trip made me aware of the humongous task to rebuild our Country. Many left our shores, because this was a very dark moment. The UWP had an opportunity to prove love for Country before Party. Mr. Marcellin, I am sure you know they failed. The PM stood up to the task, and because of his astuteness we can boast of a remarkable recovery today. And so Mr. Marcelin, the choice is clear. DLP, for the continued transformation of Dominica!

What ultramodern competence for a politician in Dominica. This has to be a first! He didn’t say “we are good and they are bad”. He didn’t bash his opponents as is customary here in the land of mapuis; where the majority put self before country; where people trade votes for a drink or Red Clinic pittance.

He encouraged voters to listen to both sides and make an educated choice. Win or lose, it’s a sign that our political candidates are maturing from infantile and pedestrian to honest and genuine. I hope it’s contagious.

Lenox Linton, it is sickening and disheartening to see the way you think about our island. You words tell us exactly who you are as a human being. There isn’t one nation that doesn’t have a system to take care of members of their society. Views Expressed, % you are heartless and brainless to hide under FAKE names spewing garbage and lies. Well said Marcellin.. Preserving Dominica for the future generation is certainly not one of Skerrit’s goal though.. After 15 long years of being PM, this lazy man has destroyed Dominica so much, that he is scared to death of losing that position of PM !!!! However the writing is on the wall. He will be kicked out by the electorate, and he knows that!

Many youth in Dominica are feeling the squeeze of a failing economy. All this government offering us is to be maid and yard boy in hotels we not sure will be completed. And even if they do, those jobs will b for one set. The red set. In this government, everything is a bobol, favouritism, and victimization if you not supporting them. F dem man. Listen keenly and analyse the words of this young man. There’s no cursing, no airing of anyone’s personal dirty laundry in public, nothing untoward. It’s strictly a competition for the hearts and minds of the people. Why can’t the elections in Dominica be about transformative ideas? What about an electoral system that gives every politician whether UWP, DLP, DFP or independent candidates a level playing field to compete? Our discourse is too uncouth, our politics too tribal and our campaigns too personal. Marcellin, as a young, fresh, political candidate has created waves. He has already brought a sense of decency, a treasure trove of ideas, more positivity to the political landscape in Dominica. Even though it may be a difficult task, I fervently hope he wins. This will thrust Dominica in a positive light. Dominica needs him more than he needs Dominica.

True! This youthful guy is full of promise. Definitely a future leader of Dominica. He has the charisma, humility, visionary ideas, self-restraint, the political and mental acumen, the man seems well rounded. If Dominicans are shrewd and discerning, they will fire Skerrit who is tired and completely bankrupt of ideas and hire this far-sighted, enterprising phenom.

“Marcellin urged Dominicans to look deep and analyze every single word that is being uttered on any platform upon which they can make a firm decision.”
Words of wisdom from a very promising young man who is to emulate others to join the UWP fight to take back our Vielle case and our Domininca. Skerrit and his failed 19 minsters corrupt Labour government has failed us in Vielle Case , in Portsmouth and is Roseau, our Town and Roseau our main Capital city, ignored, abandoned and dismissed our capital city as place of commerce, business, employment, but Skerrit and his doomed Labour government have no foresight, does not love Dominica and Dominicans. but talk rubbish and created a begging bowl called the Red Clinic to buy our poor people Skerrit and his government has created.
Skerrit and his corrupt Labour failed government Go.
We welcome Hon. Lennox Linton, our incoming Prime Minister our new,Clement Marcellin for Vielle Case to get rid of failed Skerrit and professional UP Team.

I still Red but I must say Mr. Macellin is bright light for what looks like a very dark future ahead. He brings hope and really looks and sounds like a nation leader in the making. I feel very good for him and the people of Penville for ptoducing such a brilliant young politician. I hope the people of Penville embrace him and give him all the support he needs. I stlll Red but must commend the UWP for putting such a brilliant team together

Views expressed, you choose the individual, therefore, we expect your chanting and cheerleading behavior. We Dominicans know better, because we are seeing firsthand the improvements and the patriotism that have been taking place in Dominica. Now to the UWP it is not calling on Dominicans to keep hope alive, but your accomplishments that matters! Dominica was hit by 2 major disasters, What have you done besides lips services! Can you show where you have tried to elevate the suffering of the masses, rather every opportunity you have You denigrate our island and people. You are continually going overseas picking up collections who profits from your travel? A person who feels after being dismissed from school, he didn’t want to further his education, but by lying and skimming he could fool his followers to become the PM. Most of us knows a snake 🐍 oil salesman. Since Lenox Linton is the opposition leader, we the people need to see Lenox Linton PORTFOLIO.

      July 8, 2019

I am sorry to burst your bubble viewsexpressed but Linton is inept, uneducated, lacks charisma ; the basic and necessary criteria to be a leader. After the next election UWP has a lot of soul searching to do. Here is a little secret: Linton has to be demoted in order for UWP to stand a chance the next time around.

      • Ibo france
        July 9, 2019

You are basing your asinine opinion on a false premise. This is factual. Linton’s leadership has increased the number of seats and the popularity of the UWP. Can this be refuted? Your statements are fitting for the waste basket. Make a factual comparison before and after he took to the helm of the UWP. The UWP deals with facts not false assertions like that nakedly corrupt , clueless and utterly destructive Skerrit , one man party.

      • Frank N Stein
        July 9, 2019

Realist you lie! You and your party want Lennox out because you are afraid. He increase the seats for UWP in one election as a novice, so you are fearful of what he will accomplish next. If Leenox was so bad you all would not be crying for him to leave because you do not want UWP to win so stop lying. Lennox is able to form a team of respectable high calibre men with NO MONEY! Skerrit had to dish out millions to get mediocre candidates including wifey. You all are AFRAID of Lennox Linton and thats the real reason you want him out but NO WAY, he is your next PM like it or not.

    • Itassi peeps
      July 9, 2019

Let’s say for argument sake Skerrit is terrible and corrupt. You honestly want Linton to be in in charge of Dominica? UWP is UWP worst enemy, I think the party would have a chance if they did not have Linton as the leader. Team Dominica is like a Cuban car, A Mercedes Benz body but a Kia engine. And that’s a compliment to the team he has around him. I don’t think you need a high school diploma or college degree to be a leader but these credentials would help to be a leader of a country. Dominica needs fresh ideas at the helm but you cannot replace Skerrit with Linton. I am not UWP or DLP, I am someone that wants Dominica to be respected at home and abroad.

      • Ibo france
        July 9, 2019

You are decrying the prowess Linton’s leadership. The man has significantly turn around UWP fortunes at the previous polls. Gather the statistics yourself from the electoral office and do your math. This time around, with the dynamic team that he has assembled, game over for Skerrit and his zombie ministers. Why the word zombie? His useless ministers agrees with everything the leader does even in the face of wanton corruption and severe wrongdoings, they remain silent like a cadaver in a coffin.

      • Frank N Stein
        July 9, 2019

Here we go again. IF Linton is bad for the party why not leave him and let them lose? Its because you all are afraid, that name LL have you shaking in your boots. Anything and I mean anything even a tree is better than Skerrit and his Family PArty. Having Linton is a grand prize. I am enjoying how the name of Linton drives a spear of fear in the hearts of Skerrit and company    Hear them cry

      • I'm with Lennox
        July 10, 2019

I taking Lennox for PM over Skerrit any day. I have a bachelor’s degree and I cannot find work here. I could do like everyone else in my situation and just leave, but no. I am staying right here. Skerrit and his party is Dominica’s problem and they must go. They must go for our country to attract businesses that will employ our graduates. If ‘no diploma’ Lennox is the man to extract Skerrit, I’m with him 100%
