UPDATE: Marisol John has captured the 2019 Miss Dominica Title

Marisol John of Sultan/Copthall has captured the 2019 Miss Dominica Title.

She edged out Chrisline Tavernier, Aaliyah Martin, Britney Felix and Annick Williams to win the coveted crown at the event which was held at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium, Forecourt.

She copped the awards for Best Spectacular Creation, Best in Spectacular Creation, Best Performing Talent, Best Evening Wear, Best in Evening Wear, and Best Response to Question.

Chrisline Tavernier of Grandbay secured the first runner-up position.  She won the awards for Miss Photogenic, Leadership Award, Best Swim Wear and Best in Swim Wear.

Aaliyah Martin of Campbell received the second runner –up position and Britney Felix of St Joseph was awarded Miss Amity.

John who spoke to the media moments after being crown said hard work helped her to receive that title.

“I worked hard…,” she said. “It’s a beginning of a new phase in my life, something great.”

She went on to say that being a teacher helps her to speak on a daily basis, “so I think that helped me in answering my questions.”

Her message to other young ladies who plan to take part in the Miss Dominica pageant, “I will tell them certainly go ahead, If they are willing and determine go ahead.”

“Just ensure that you are prepared and do everything that you need in order to get where you want to be,” she advised.

John said a lot more is in store for the upcoming pageants.

    She is not from Sultan but Saltoun. The name of that estate was Saltoun, a family from Scotland, UK who had plantations across the British Caribbean. But I see Dominicans calling it Saltan, they spelling it Saltan, they put it on Google as Saltan, they call the falls Saltan, and now this! Ignorance is a real shame!
