Ministry of Health Covid-19 report: 50 new cases, 44.6% of target population fully vaccinated

Dr. Ahmed Shallaudin

The latest Ministry of Health COVID-19 report has put the number of new COVID-19 cases in Dominica at 50 and the number of active cases at 627, as at September 16th, 2021.

“As at September 16th, 2021 [Thursday] our total number of new cases is 50,” National Epidemiologist, Dr. Shallaudin Ahmed reported during a press briefing on Friday night (September 17th).. “Forty-eight (48) of them are antigen positive and 2 are PCR positive.”

New cases were ten less that what had been reported the previous day, September 15th; there have been 2173 recoveries.

“Total number of tests conducted 64, 841, of them 25,778 were PCR tests and 39,063 were rapid antigen tests,” Dr. Ahmed stated.

The national epidemiologist further revealed that 50% of the adult population had taken at least one dose of the vaccine and 44.6 % of the target population was fully vaccinated. It is unclear what the target population is.

He also disclosed that while 117 new cases of the virus were reported on September 13th, 2021, for the rest of the week, the number of cases went down.

“So on average, we have about 57 cases per day; so this is down from 67 cases from the previous week,” Dr. Ahmed explained. “Severe cases are just about 6%, moderate cases about 8% and 81% of the cases are mild to asymptomatic.”

He said this was consistent with the global data that “we have seen so far.”

Out of a total number of 1966 cases, Dr. Ahmed revealed that 76% were unvaccinated and only 25% were vaccinated.

  1. Hypocrisy
    September 21, 2021

I have backed off from posting and commenting on the ills, evils and hardships which have been unleashed upon this tiny beautiful Island of ours, by a deceitful and corrupt government and its wicked inner circles such as those crooked “business men and women” and lazy beneficiaries. I don’t understand why those who are now calling themselves, “god’s child” and such like had remained under a rock with tight lips while the people of Dominica had been suffering and are still suffering under a dictator who has refused to take his dirty stinking feet off of my people’s neck for much too long. All you who are now playing holy and are attaching God’s name to yours; I feel very sorry for for you. I’m a believer and I can see the hypocrisy that’s coming from some of you even from the “pastor” and church ministers who failed to call Skerrit out for his disregard and respect for the people of Dominica. To you all I say, don’t forget what happened to Eli the High priest and how he died. Shame..

Hello Angry one. Relax God has that under control. Jehovah Elohim don’t need a judge. Stop pointing fingers. Show the aroma of God through your conversation. The only Bible some will read is your…..The God of Love needs you to reflect His love.

Now that covid is well and truly in the community, I am concerned at the number of people I know who are falling ill or who’s lives are in danger. Neither religion or politics will protect you – the vaccine is all we have right now, and we are fortunate to have obtained sufficient for all – thank you PM. In an effort to persuade the unvaxed to get the jab is an important statistic that needs to be stressed:- how FEW of the fully vaccinated that contract covid actually display any serious symptoms. For those vaxed who contract the prevalent delta variant, most are asymptomatic or only suffer mild symptoms. This is the statistic that will hopefully win over the unvaxed to protect themselves asap.

Prayer has done nothing for your people which is why we are where we are today. Snap out of it! Seek the spirituality of your people before they were brutally invaded and conquered and their Spirituality replaced with the white European’s religion. You are the only people left who worship, by force and brutality, a god and religion they did not choose. Think of it and research to find out more.

Prayer is great but don’t lose sight of the fact that we’re dealing with a global disease. Dominica is not being singled out and punished. We’re all in this together so let’s develop a sound plan going forward to defeat this virus.
    Take the vaccine and live.

You guys particularly @godschild, life4god that one from Canada by the name of Elizabeth Xavier are others. You hypocrites are now calling for unity but have failed to condemn the evils of Skerrit that is done in broad daylight. Didn’t you all see the country was divided by Skerrit when he and his evil ministers would distribute truck loads of ham and turkey to their supporters but if they were not sure that some did not vote for Skerrit, they would get nothing! Some of the people that were victimized attend the same church but they would take untill their fridge could hold no more while their brothers and sisters had nothing to give their children; but just because some didn’t vote Skerrit while some that voted DLP but were not vocal they got nothing! What did you guys say at that time you evil hypocrite s? Didn’t you all know the verse in 2nd Chronicles at that time? Why are you all so evil and hypocrite?

I understand your feelings it is okay to vent how you feel. The Bible will not change because of the act of evil men. WE SHOULD still adhere to the word of God. Not here to judge anyone or point fingers. We need each other in times like this. Don’t include me with others because I spoke the word. Stay safe and thanks for your feedback

IF my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways. Then shall I hear from Heaven forgive their sins and heal their Land. It is time to Humble ourselves . As a Dominician we need to walk in love and forgiveness. The country is being rocked by Covid. Not Politics. Let us Pray…
