Nature Island Literary Festival moves to Mero on Sunday

nilf-flyerFrom 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday September 11th, as part of the 9th annual Nature Island Literary Festival, Mero comes alive with “Mero Beach Rhyme,” a two-part event.

Part one will be hosted by The Mero Improvement Committee and will feature poetry, and live and DJ music.

Part two, hosted by Romance Café, will include live cultural performances by the Flamboyant Cultural Group which will encourage audience participation, live music from Mac & Cheese with lead singer, Asher Thomas.

There will also be a participatory drum circle which is a community building activity facilitated by master drummer, Ras Mo Moses, where the audience of all age groups and backgrounds is given access to drums and allowed to participate and play along. The public is encouraged to bring along their own drums, plastic buckets, metal and other objects that can make percussive sounds. It is a unifying and fun filled experience.

This year’s festival will open with its main event on Sunday September 11th at the UWI Open Campus from 10 a.m. On Monday September 12th, there will be a Special Schools Festival Showcase at the Arawak House of Culture.
