New traffic arrangements with reopening of EC Loblack Bridge

The EC Loblack Bridge is providing one-way vehicular traffic into Roseau

Superintendent of police, Richmond valentine has announced the new traffic arrangements which have taken effect with the reopening of the EC Loblack Bridge.

The bridge was severely damaged by Hurricane Maria on September 18, 2018.

Valentine instructed the public on how traffic in and out of Roseau should be conducted with the reopening of the bridge provides for one-way vehicular traffic into Roseau.

“As a result of this, the New west bridge will no longer accommodate two-way traffic, so only vehicles leaving the city will utilize the New West Bridge,” he said

He added that the St.Joseph and Mahaut bus drivers will be moved back to where they were previously located.

“The St. Joseph and Mahuat bus drivers will move from Great George Street to the original location. That is, on River Bank between the two bridges,” Valentine stated

He stated that police officers will be providing assistance to the public to prevent any accidents from occurring.

“A number of police officers will be on site today, in an effort to assist and facilitate the easy movement of vehicular traffic, just to ensure there are no incidents.”

He also advised persons who normally parked their vehicles between the New West Bridge and EC Loblack Bridge, to find an alternative parking as of Thursday morning.

The general public is asked to cooperate with the police to avoid any vehicular incidents by following traffic signs along the route to allow easy flow of traffic.

we really need a bus terminal/station… its necessary for tourist and visitors to get around (easier for them to navigate the small city or visit another village), it will cleanup the city and clear up traffic, it will allow the bus drivers to park in shade not the hot sun, if ticketing is developed it will help the passengers and the drivers financially as well as the government for taxes and the transportation ministry for planning because you’ll have data and statistics on how many people are in the city and out daily as well as which small town has the most traffic and should get investment for roads or housing etc.
It could even be used for parking excess vehicles when there’s festivals and shows in Roseau during non working hours.
Addition of small motorcycle type vehicles with car like seating in the back to get people around Roseau and surrounding areas to shop and sight see, instead of renting a vehicle or calling taxi or waiting for bus will improve tourism…

We keep talking about Roseau enhancement and Roseau does not have proper traffic signs, Mr. Superintendent.

The construction of bus terminal(s) is long overdue. The parking area between the two bridges was such an ease up for parking for commuters. Now it is back to a bus stop. And parking in Roseau becomes more chaotic. Buses belong in bus terminals. It is high time to provide additional parking for commuters!

I agree 100% a bus terminal is a must in the near future

In terms of traffic flow, my comment under the earlier DNO announcement “E C Loblack Bridge Reopens” is relevant.

I think since the bridge “opened” the commenter presumed that work was completed.

My information is that this is a temporary situation as the bridge is not fully completed.
