Non-national charged with deception for issuing false cheque

A Nigerian man residing in Newtown, Dominica, who was charged with deception, is now an inmate at the Dominica State Prison following his inability to present a surety to the court for bail.

Clerance Munjoh Ngeyah appeared before the Roseau Magistrate Court on May 13, 2022, where the charges were read to him.

It is alleged that on November 8, 2021, at 60 Goodwill Road, Roseau, Ngeyah did dishonestly obtain from a cashier at Auto Depot Ltd. certain items all to the total value of EC$656.70 with the intention of permanently depriving the establishment of the goods.

During the alleged offense, the Nigerian man is said to have falsely issued a FirstCaribbean International Bank cheque as a good and valid order for the payment of the said goods.

At the court hearing, the accused was not required to enter a plea since the matter is an indictable offense and is expected to be heard at the High court of Justice before a judge and jury.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Davidson Cadette did not object but asked the court that such be granted with a proper surety.

However, Ngeyah was unable to present a surety to the court hence Magistrate Pearl Williams remanded the accused at the Dominica State Prison until he is able to meet the court requirements.

The matter was adjourned to July 7, 2022, for Preliminary Inquiry.

Do you want me to conclude that Dominicans is criminal hideout ? No, Dominican are actually sweet people with a golden heart, Stop stereotyping the whole Nations to be a scammer.

The fact, is that No Country can survive in isolation, so stop thinking you are doing other non-nationals a favor when they live in your country, they are the one doing you a favor, they pay TAX, they pay for permit, they pay rent and they employed many of you. You can’t drive a mile without seeing different non-nationals like Pilipinos, Indians, Spanish, Arabs and Africans in other developed countries, Nigerians are not Scammers, they pay thousands of Dollars to come and school in our small island, they are dedicated, brilliant, holding top position in united Nations, Let the Law deal with the bad individuals and emancipate yourself from the shackles of illiteracy.

You all should stop stereotyping a whole Nation because of what a particular individual does.

This a common practice by Dominicans pointing an accusing fingers to non-nationals like Haitian, Spanish and Africans whenever they suffer from their own bad luck, It’s a display of inferiority complex and gross illiteracy, who does that.

Have you ever think about Young Dominicans committing crime in other island, Antigua, St Vincent, Virgin island, St Matins etc, Currently in Dominica, We have had cases of G**n Violent since the beginning of the year, Bugling’s, child abuse, Your entertainers are becoming Pedophiles right in your face, Your youth are gradually turning to parooo because of hard dr*g, Family member molesting their same blood, with the amount of crime and promiscuity act going on in the US now, you all still dying for their VISA, You can refer to sate as a Good place, but your fellow black nation is full of scammers right ?,

Hard to believe we still have to deal with this in 2022. Like we all don’t have enough discrimination to deal with as black people already in a world that treats us as second class humans, see how quick some are to point fingers and attack a whole subgroup based on the actions of a grown man who’s actions, no one else has control over.

I’m not even going to focus on the fact that he’s Cameroonian and not a Nigerian cause he could have well been one and that should not make a difference.

Yes, what he did was terrible and he rightfully should be condemned for it but what country doesn’t have an adult that could do such? Should we all be judged by the actions of people that we have no control over???

Y’all know better than to do that in an island of less than 70,000 much less a country of over 200 million people.

In my line of profession, I have heard of so many lawyers, regular Dominicans scamming their compatriots, heck! I’ve been a victim a…

If DNO cares about not stiring up hate, they would correct their post on the nationality and educate their readers including those on Facebook on stereotyping individuals based on their nationality.

A deceptive and corrupt leader that only attracts foreign deceivers like himself. I wonder if Monfared’s debts were ever paid and if so who paid them? One thing I remember is PM Roosevelt Skerrit was a good friend of Alireza Monfared and Skerrit described the now jailed Monfared as a good man that wanted to help Dominica

Sad but true. Nigerians are infamous for fraudulent dealings. So much so that one would even think that they are inherently predisposed to commit fraud.

I hoped he would be summarily deported to the country of his birth.

Dominica is quite overwhelmed with illegal activities – murders, corruption, drug trafficking, money laundering, rape, unlawful carnal knowledge, larceny, et cetera. This is a country clearly in distress. SOS!

You can say that again. One of them even had a Dominican Diplomatic passport. I wonder what scam she had to enact? Or perhaps was it just a matter of a brown envelope containing a bunch of US dollars. In Dominica one never knows who is scamming who. It’s sad but it’s true.

Well them Nigerians finally reach. It took them long enough to learn that Dca is the thriving country for bobol lead by an accused / alleged set of scammers. This is just the begining. I hate to cast the blanket proverbial net that all nigerians are scammers but at least I can say by default they are the best at it and thrive on it in every country. Dcan businesses better tie their waist.

Lol this. As soon as I saw “Non-National”, I said to myself I bet he’s African. Saw the first line of the article “A Nigerian man”, and said to myself “Wow, what a surprise  “ in my sarcastic voice

Everybody around the world knows Nigerians are crooks, it’s in their DNA. I’m sure everybody’s received an email from a so-called ‘Nigerian prince’ at least 10 times in their life
