OECS to launch ministerial declaration on migration, environment and climate change

A new OECS high-level Ministerial Declaration on Migration, Environment and Climate Change will be launched on October 25, 2023, at the Latin America and Caribbean Climate Week (LACC) in Panama.

Member States of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) signed off on a ministerial declaration which was presented at the OECS second Immigration Council of Ministers Meeting held on April 13, 2023, in the Commonwealth of Dominica.Eastern Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are recurrently exposed to climate related hazards the impact of which is increasing, resulting in both internal and cross border displacement. These impacts threaten the human security of at-risk populations in the region limiting efforts to enable vulnerable people to live free from fear, free from want and the opportunity to live in dignity.

The Ministerial Declaration demonstrates OECS Member States and Associate Members commitment to take action to mitigate climate change impact as well as to address human mobility relating to environmental degradation.

Director General of the OECS Commission, Dr Didacus Jules, in support of the Declaration said, “This is a true reflection of the collective commitment among the leaders of the OECS to take action against the climate change phenomenon that threatens the very survival of our region.”

Project Coordinator, Viola Pascal, noted, “Leveraging the multistakeholder, comprehensive and people-centered principles central to the human security approach in realizing this high-level Ministerial Declaration, is very timely to strengthen advocacy by OECS SIDS towards political and socioeconomic support to protect at-risk population.”

The Ministerial Declaration is a significant achievement under a joint human security programme implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with the OECS Commission, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Platform on Disaster Displacement (PDD) under the guidance of the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.

In all by born day; I’ve never been more confused after reading such complicated nonsense.
    It doesn’t make sense!

The caption reads; “Ministerial Declaration On Migration, Environmental And Climate Change: then we see part of the complicated rhetoric: anything Dominicans are involved into always posses a problem of understanding

“Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are recurrently exposed to climate related hazards the impact of which is increasing, resulting in both internal and cross border displacement. These impacts threaten the human security of at-risk populations in the region limiting efforts to enable vulnerable people to live free from fear, free from want and the opportunity to live in dignit”
How can one phase that into what is noted in the caption?

Lin Clown; have you ever heard the phrase, or term “wet-fart?” Well, that’s what you are: you’re born senseless, you exist with an undeveloped mind, and brain; unable to process things: anything that relates to reality, you don’t have any concept of reality.
      You are a confounded idiot!
If you were not a thing, without cognition, unable to think cognitively; you would understand that the smart people who benefit from Roosevelt are his lapdogs, puppets, passports salespeople, and the wet-fart ones like you without a brain!
You keep talking crap about $400,000.00 house. Let me tell you something, log before Roosevelt Skerritt was born Kenneth Telemaque built a house in Wesley at a cost of more than four hundred thousand dollars!
      Others followed.
Most people returned from England and did not build 16 X 12 structures!
You need to shut up, I wish I could punch you smack on your mouth and watch blood run!
Then since wet-fart has no substance, less than mata, I only have to blow on you.

Just a distraction from what the people of Dominica are concerned about. Passport sale and their money.

The “people of Dominica?” You mean the noisy minority who hate Skerrit and who are convinced that by destroying the CBI programme, they will somehow see the end of Labour in government? Yea, that is what you call “some Dominicans,” not “the people.” The people of Dominica generally do not give a rat’s behind about the onslaught on the CBI program. They see it as “unfortunate” and bad for Dominica but being used to this attack from the UWPWee and its satellites, they are now immune to it and are too busy trying to go about their daily lives to care. This is why the cognitively challenged one on Q95 and others of his ilk have to work hard (as they did on the Choksy matter) to keep the story alive. That bomb did not even fizz.

Roosevelt is the one that has done, and is doing irreparable damage to the CBI progra.. No proper due diligence is carried out. Once you have the money you get a Dominica passport. The rejection rate is 0%.

All sort of crooks, bandits, fugitives, criminals, shady characters brandishing Dominica passports at ports of entry all over the world. It is the cheapest and the easiest to get so it sells fast like goods at a bargain sale.

@ Putin Nice song 🎵 Putin Tommy Talker. Keep singing for your super while the harvesting of the poor people’s money will one day take away your song. You seem to know right from wrong but you have made your choice to do or encourage the wrong.

I’m wondering when Melissa is going to get an opportunity at one of these regional or international meetings to expatriate on the delicate balance of well needed housing development and the protection of the environment at the same time.

Is she capable of doing this? No, for nobody has ever accused Melissa of being bright.

It’s not due to the feature on DNO used to edit and make corrections.
It is all due to the type of dictionaries installed in your PC, or smart phone.
It’s worse when using a smart phone than a regular personal computer.
If one is not careful it will omit words too, which renders a sentence fragmented!

Almost everyday one hears about meetings member nations of CARICOM and the OECS are having or attending. These meetings mainly concern climate change, renewable energy, food security, agriculture, crime, education. Have the region realised any discernible, positive changes? No! In fact living conditions in these territories are for the most part deteriorating.

I have sadly and reluctantly concluded that our leaders enjoy photo-ops, fine dining, a respite in luxurious hotels and the per diem they receive.

I have seen the atrocious behaviour and heard the nasty, vulgar and deplorable words of these Heads directed at their political opponents. They cannot govern. No wonder the Caribbean region is now a place of high crime, high poverty, high alcoholism, high indebtedness, high corruption, and highly polarised politically.
