On July 31, 2019 Leader of the Opposition, Lennox Linton, delivered in parliament, his budget response to the 2019-2020 budget address which was presented by prime minister Skerrit the day before.

As of 4 pm on August 6, the number of comments under the Opposition Leader’s speech is 23, double the number of comments under the PM’s speech, 11. This tells me that there are many more people interested in what Lennox has to say than what Skerrit says. Not even the Labourites are reading their PM’s speech.

Mr. Linton nice speech yet U did not say how U intend to fund (or raise the monies) to do all you suggested. A budget speaks of expenditure, the main part is the Revenue flows required & net outcome – Dificit or surplus. You spoke of people regardles of who they support coming together to work for the betterment of the country. You are the first one who divides with the way u speak . Only opposing; no offer of alternatives or suggestions. The huricane gave you the opportunity, a Leader 2 join hands 2 work together for the betterment /Development of the Country. Instead you disassociated yourself, went all over the place viifying/bringing down people & Dominica. U could have said there is progress but more can be done & how that can be achieved. provision of scholarship for youth citizen to further there self and come back and develop the country. I mean provision of jobs and other points are excellent point.

I love you very much Lennox Linton. Why? Because I know you love us, Dominicans very much. Even those that hate you. You sacrifice yourself for our freedom and prosperity. Many do not see that is what you are doing, the superficial things, material things have blinded their eyes. But there are many who know just how special you are, a gift. Thank you Lord for Lennox. What is a budget? It is something that shows how money is raised (Income) and Expenditure (spent in the affairs of the State). How does Mr. Linton sacrifice himself for freedom & prosperity? Mr Linton has to prove himself with a well written budget. See my comments. It is not nice speech that qualifies one for service. You have to understand first what u are going into. Again u persons have to understand how the country runs (taxes etc); not all those stories – rumours spreading around. Case in point – one have to understand the rates taxes / persons /per family; other special cases before u can quantify amount not only # of persons& a figure arrive at without the real facts (family and #’s/standalones etc). It is foolish just to look at the figure for a service, add by the amount (for the amount may well include families fo whatever #. Is this really a response to the budget? Oh my! A child budgeting for Christmas would have done better that.
One would have expected to see and read something with numbers and figures followed by explanation of how,where and when those numbers and figure would be utilized for the betterment of the country. Adjustments and alternatives or something better or something more interesting than what was presented to the House,but I just read a whole set of crap making me fall asleep in the process because of it so boring and with no substance.

He has no need for such – the Budget showed Income & Expenditure – Amts to be raised & methods (taxes, rates, sales etc). Amts allocated to the various ministries/projects etc as expenditure. dificit or surplus too. Dificit – expenditure is higher than Income; surplus is the other way – Income is more than what will be spent. U need to understand this things before u speak. It was difficult to read this budget presentation- not because it did not make sense- IT DID.
It was difficult to read because I am unable to grasp how much damage has been done by a one man regime over 19 years. The Marigot constituency has been totally blindsided and left destituted. Doh come with nonsense about they had no representation- the party in power is responsible for its people- not the opposition (basic civics).

I hope Dominicans open their eyes and truly read both budget presentations- take your time and digest it- which one has more substance – stop letting party colors, cool outs and dimples fool allu.

Duty free on building materials up to december 2019? UWP take note, the budget for grant aid is shrinking steadily over the years and is not likely to improve. Reading this esay Dominica’s best hope to finance its development in the short and medium is through local taxes and the CBI. The UWP leader is mixing actual figures with estimated figures to arrive at the conclusion that over $1billion is missing. Why did the Leader of the oppossition did not do a complete inquiry.
