That has nothing to do with paying up your taxes owed to the Govt. It is tax time again. It is everywhere. Even in America you have to either pay taxes owed or get a refund. If you do not pay taxes, Uncle Sam can garnish your check and put a lien on your property. You all have it too sweet in Dominica. Uncle Sam can even suspend your driver’s license or registration. And if you owed taxes last year and get a refund this year, the government has a right to keep your refund for the state. Stop all these games and pay your tax owed to the state. You all want to live cheap and smell sweet. BOOMBOOMCLATS.

Skerrit, is this true Sir!?. “Someone gave you land in Trafalgar, which you paid for and You, Skerrit and Prime Minister did not pay the taxes owed to the state. You run things in Dominica so the people following your example.”
If this is true then it`s shameful, devious, corrupted, divisive and also taken advantage of your position and abuse of our states income from taxed needed to be paid, irrespective who the person is and what position they hold. So Skerrit, if this is true, own up, and come clean and pay the taxes due to our Country. This is a sad state of affairs, actually, if true by you or any other Dominican irrespective of the high or low position or from any malaway. The latter just does not apply to you, so if you are in that higher bracket then you need to apologise to we the people who have been suffering and crying for jobs for the past 20 years under your failed corrupted Labour government and seen to be a failure and incompetent to be Prime Minister. Own up.

Hey! The money I gave you last year I want it back; plus “tax” and interest. Sorry granny, I had to comment on this one. The Red cloth? Which Red cloth you talk bout granny? Oh! Yes, it’s about 1.1 million yards of cloth covering the entire Dominica. The cost? I think it’s $10.00 per yard. How much in total? I think it’s about

    $11,000,000,000.00

I fully agree with Prime minister Skerrit, pay up or go to jail many Dominicans like to live cheap and smell sweet, that same lots when they go to Canada, USA, UK, Europe they must pay their taxes without any problem when in Dominica they don’t want to pay taxes, Pm build bigger jailhouse for people like those take away their cars, houses, and lands that will wake them up and get them thinking 🤔🤔🤔

In America, Canada, and all of Europe, people owning business, makes money; their business generates income, if you own a Candy shop in England, it is almost impossible for one to go out of business, selling candies.

People who own homes and pay property tax, even in retirement their retirement money is enough to keep them living; not staving, and pay their property tax.

In America we have what is called Reverse Mortgage, if your house is paid for you can utilize that, getting paid a certain amount of money per month totaling many thousands of dollars per year, from which one can still pay their taxes till death! You need to shut up; Dominica is a dead place, after this five years, the idiots should give him another ten years; by then his children will be all living in America, with no problem since they are all born here.

The crook Roosevelt will take all his corrupted and ill gain money and go to Guadeloupe (where him is citizen)!

      February 10, 2020

Dog, people do not go to jail in America, or Canada for not able to pay their taxes!

If you are a thief like a certain corrupted crook in Dominica, they go to jail for filing false tax returns, if they submit a tax return and conceal the total amount of money they made in one year, or number of years, when they are audited, they are asks to pay all they did not pay; that also constitute time in jail!

If your are broke in America; entity, or an individual having difficulties paying the IRS or your debtors, you can file bankruptcy, under chapters: and I am not disclosing that; but you so lie pretending you so smart and know, that you talking fart!

Nevertheless, once you file bankruptcy, under certain penal code, in some cases all your debts are automatically gone, and not even the government (IRS) can ask you for money: there are other ways one can keep the business, go into receivership and reorganized!

      Shut up!

Man Bites Dogs woof woof. Becareful when you point fingers at people. Be advised that when you point your dirty finger at someone you have four (4) deceitful fingers pointed back at you. So go look at the mirror an ask yourself who the hell do you think you are to go after people whom you think are not supporters of failed Skerrit.? We have that democratic right to align ourselves to any politician and political party. But they must past the test to be honest, mature, sincere, with some level of understanding the political science and good governance with respect for all of our people and to be open, transparent and honest that You must not be seen to interfere in our tax money coming from we the people who work hard for our families and our failed Island Dominica under your failed leadership and stewardship.
We desperately need a change in government. We need this decent, trusted UWP Political Party with a highly credible Leader of the Opposition, Hon Linton. That`s our government.

Man bites dogs, have you paid all of your taxes and met other commitments? Do you know if Skerrit has paid all his taxes which does not all come from deduction of salaries but from earnings where people purchase many from big places which are assets and must be registered and pay taxes for. For example, the purchase of land, properties and other matters that is well defined by the state that we all are aware of. Has any sitting minister of government purchase and own property in the USA or elsewhere and also is it true that you have serious big money saved and deposited in the banks in the USA and other places known to be secretive to the Public. If so, where did all this money come from. Please be advised that every rope has an end and therefore you and those in hiding will be found out sooner in time. We are fed up with our failed Dominica.
I`m am not in the business not to where politicians say ne thing and under the table do another, so we have no knowledge of their hidden assets

Yes, go for all those in high places who defy their tax payment. We also need an ombudsman to track all those who defy tax payment and to follow the track of those who take their monies to foreign banks to defy payment of taxes in Dominica. The first set of people you should ask to pay anything are those you gave houses free, secondly all those you gave monies in cool out form, and those who got building materials that don’t have any house, they sold the materials. People who got duty free for their expensive private vehicles. Those who sell passports and have become multi millionaires and buying properties all over the island. The so called investors who came with nothing, got our passports to sell, took the money from the sale of the passports to build hotels and the hotels belong to them. ask these people to pay taxes. We who work for our money, take mortgages to build our homes and has to repay the banks for thirty years, have not gotten anything free you still want to pay more taxes to support lazy people who refuse to work? Mr Pm, kindly note that you and your government has perpetuated a culture and mindset of freeness. It’s okay to help people, however, your way has fed and nurtured bad habits n ingratitude from Dominicans. They live as if they are owed everything at no cost.
So now that you are telling them to pay their taxes, and rightly so, how much of them are you all willing to lock up?
Its very sad to seee a pm literally begging Dominicans to pay their taxes.
But Pm, you must take some blame, because you gave the naughty kids the impression that from house, land, food and everything is free..
Why did you not teach them to catch a fish instead of giving them fish.
Welll pm, goood luck my brother, you now realizing the folks you are dealing with n so forth.

It is so great to read that our people are beginning to open their eyes to the obvious visible Bobol and corruption of Skerrit`s questionable Bobol and devious Labour Government. We have entrusted this failed Prime Minister and failed Labour government to protect, invest and have our tax money well invested in the care of those in need.
We need to know, we need an audit ASAP. For those of you blind loyalists I am hoping that you`ll will come together, for the sake of Dominica and its people in poverty created by this failed Labour Government. We need to capture and collect these monies that Skerrit is asking for. Please go start by asking Skerrit questions, and empty his pocket, and accounts that may well be locked in many bank places? Just asking, we need to know of our money.
Our Dominica money has come this low? Skerrit is probably not an financier and one to trust to account fully the money of the people of Dominica. What a failed, weird incompetent Odd Prime Minister. Skerrit…

    February 8, 2020

Financial crisis on the horizon! It irks me that the Government has caused Dominicans to be so dependent on it instead of being independent. The Government has created a lot of laziness in Dominica. Free housing for people who can face the bank, take a mortgage and build their houses, then the payment of the loans would generate revenue for the banks/financial institutions. So many vehicles coming into the country DUTY FREE by people who can afford to pay their duties. My God! This is not good for the economy of the country but one day reality will strike; in fact it is already there.
So much money wasted before the December elections and like the elders say “Waste brings need.”

Mr Prime Minister what did you expect? You set a trend in Dominica of easy money with no responsibility and no accountability. Now you want those who work hard to pay your taxes while they see those who can work but do not work come and collect your easy lazy money. No productivity, no industry, but come and collect money for Labour party political affinity! What do you expect? The Bible tell you that you reap what you sow!

Sybil , do you live in Dominica? Apparently you do not have the facts. The Government created this atmosphere of dependency and laziness in Dominica so let them deal with it. What about Pay the EC$257,921,653.74 we owe, from the $1.2 billion you owe us? Do you know if you pay our debt from the amount you owe us, you would still have a balance of

Just as I see it too. We have to extremely watchful of this government before things get worse. It is sad that civil servants are unable to interfere and demand accountability and Skerrit must give a full account of our money. What happen and where is the Financial Secretary? Is he or she doing their work or are under the bondage of Skerrit? This is serious matters here that we need to be accounted for. As a civil servant and watch wh is coming in and going our is a worry, because it does nothing to our development and stability of our economy.
There so many questions to be answered and we wonder where is and what is the Director of Audit and Financial Secretary doing about this?
Skerrit and his government has killed our agriculture and we need answers to these passport sales and other matters of states’ revenue and expense that we call for an audit of our states finances, how managed, how expensed, accounted for and to whom. We need this to be the important issue to address.

The nakedness of the Emperor is once again exposed!

The nation is broke; penniless, the treasury is empty, the sale of diplomatic passports, and ordinary travel passports  sale are no longer lucrative; and so the Emperor penis is hanging naked for all to see.

In order for a taxpayer to be capable of paying current, or taxes owed to the government, they must have a source of revenue!

However, since Roosevelt is the giver of all things to all the idiots who supports him, even those who owes back-taxes, all the broke business, and individuals should demand the giving god Roosevelt pay their taxes.

There is a one billion, two hundred million dollars missing from the government treasury; people should be demanding an answer from Roosevelt when asks where is the $1.2 Billion, who have it?

As he laments (cry) for money, all of the people who’s house needs repair, and even those people he was fake giving to are unable to complete repairs since the last three hurricanes.

Where is famous Parry Bellot to comment on these matters of states. You better come good, clean and open, if not we will question you as this ridiculous media defender person observer of failed Sherrit, whom you think can do, has done no wrong. This man has failed us over 19 years now and we have nothing to show for it. Again, I am asking tell us, show us where the development is taking place as our people continue to que and people move as acolytes distributing money to families and people all over from top of the floor.
Again I will emphasis this point that Skerrit has been this failure with his blind hopeless large 19 cabinet ministers who are unable, and scared to question immature Skerrit and have him to account for our states finances and other matters of state. We need answers and we need an independent accountant to investigate this so call red thievery of our tax money.
This has to be done and as a result Skerrit must absent himself from the office. We need answers from…

With an economy as small as Dominicas how has it come to, that about a quarter or more of the governments budget is being owing to government? Yet the finance minister is doing a good job! Just a couple months ago money was being spent like it had no value or meaning, so why is the economy in such a bad situation? This finance minister, the greatest PM of Dominica couldn’t envision that we have been heading into a recession and a possible depression. This guy should be fired or just be noble and resign, since he’s the one who has our economy in such a poor state especially as he’s being running it for 15 years. Such incompetence! 15 years no economic boom until 90 percent plus of buildings got damaged, well the construction craze seems to be washed up. So much vision yet skerro can’t manage the economy so he turns to IMF to do he’s job, a job which he has claimed only he can realise. Well IMF officials visiting means only one thing AUSTERITY MEASURES! So much for Dominicas…

This guy Skerrit should be fired ASAP. Out, Get Out. Submit your passport, diplomatic and state as we need you in Dominica to answer questions. It is the States Prison that we await your visit!

When the rains fall it falls on the just and the unjust. Squeeze their belly Skerritt. Make them puke out the taxes. Why didn’t you make that call prior to the elections? No. You could not rock the boat. Then again if the taxes are so badly needed why don’t you tell us how much taxes your party spent in the lead up to the elections. How much was written of especially in transporting clappers to Antigua, St Martin and Guadeloupe? Whose money was spent during your elections campaign? Wasn’t it the much needed dollars from the government treasury? How much property tax are you owing the state for the young hotel you are constructing in Morne Daniel? Finally, how much tax is owed by the business of the family of Senior Counsel? Doesn’t Dominica need the taxes from them? I want you to go after everyone who owes because they believe that because they supported “my PeeeM” they will be allowed to do as they wish with the state taxes. Dominicans, you get the government you deserve.

Soon with your failed policies all businesses will be gone and you’ll have the biggest government in the OECS, but Government doesn’t pay tax….Good Luck with your madness

VAT is collected by merchants on goods and services it is not theirs it must be passed on to the state, also the taxes that employers deduct from workers salary must be given to the state. Politics continue to destroy this country.

        February 9, 2020

Vat should be past on to the state. Taxes deducted from Workers salary must be paid to the state. What about the cool out. All those who got cool out? Was that revenue they received. Did they pay tax to the state. What about the free homes, was that value received did they pay tax to the state. And all the Artist that got money to perform did they pay taxes to state? And all that money was that state funds being abused? You want me to pay taxes for that reckless expenditure to continue. So Skerrit and his cronies continue to leave lavish lives while hard working people struggle everyday to make ends meet. If you think the issue is vat receivables and people withholding income tax then you really need to think again.

    February 7, 2020

Yes I agree with the Prime Minister whether you are a supporter of none supporter
I believe its the most decent thing for him to do. That is to ask those who own the state money to pay up. Lets us face it, those who owe jolly well know that they can only disregard paying taxes in Dominica. They are well aware of what would happen to them if they were operating in the USA (IRS) and in Britain. For too long people take advantage of the laxity of those responsible for collecting the country’s taxes.

The inland revenue is supposed to have teeth and do their work in collecting the state revenues. The PM would not have that been announcing that had the Revenue Collectors done their work. According to Law they have the right to write to those concerned to and if they fail then they will have to face the court. Please pay up

    • Toto
      February 8, 2020

The PM say he run things in Dominica so is he that control the inland revenue, he the minister of finance. He can order inland revenue to grab bank accounts and tell the owners they owe tax and is for them to prove to the revenue why they don’t. Yes, the law can do that but I hope for mister sake he don’t pull that trick because there will be civil war.

It appears that The Prime Minister also who holds, disappointedly the Finance Ministry has failed miserable in the management and accounting of our finances.
Now it appears that Skerrit has woken up to see the damage that he has done in ignoring his responsibility and attended to other matters that are irrelevant. Our finances and taxes are key to the survival of Dominia. Revenue comes from many sources and the principle revenue has either been ignored, abandoned and rushed and travelled all over the damn place managing the passports scam scheme to gain money and has abandoned his sole principled responsibility by sitting on his desk at his office to do the work that we the people of Dominica pays him to undertake. We have seen and have heard of the incompetence of Skerrit holding on these positions of Finance & Prime Minister. Skerrit i not of this level to be responsible for these matters of state. look where we are now. The incompetence has surface and failed Skerrit is desperate.

I hope your friends pay theirs too. But if I was one of those who owed I would file an injunction requesting that I not be forced to pay until you, yes you pay back the 1.2 Billion that is still unaccounted for in our treasury to this day. So keep on threatening because you can’t do sheeeet if they don’t pay.

That is only $0.256 billion brother, less than a quarter of the $1.3 billion allegedly missing from our treasury from passport sales. You never explain that discrepancy because that is not our business. Yes people must pay their taxes but how you expect them to do that if they see bad examples. Those Dominican agents selling passports through their companies in Dubai don’t pay tax do they and they say that is all legal because Dubai not charging tax. During the election campaign St. Jean said ” Skerrit is a jack… ” DNO i am quoting. Washington also said it is better for a pack of Jack…es to be lead by a lion than lions lead by a jack…. After being the minister of finance for over 15 years was it not your responsibility to ensure that all taxes were collected and accounted for? You should start shaming by looking into the mirror. You boasted leadership matters and under your leadership the country is suffering by your own admission of unpaid taxes. Last year AID bank could not make 1million in profit and people couldn’t afford loans at 2%. Meanwhile the biggest infrastructure driver was CBI funds ran by the government who owns 89% of aid bank shares while social security own the rest. In effect the government is denying its own self of generating revenue when it bypasses its bank and instead have foriegners making millions before the hotels host one guest. This is a result of miss management. Indeed St. Jean was right

ADMIN: While he said something similar that wasn’t St. Jean’s quote. The full clip can be viewed here at 11:20 in the video: https://youtu.be/wZNKTUje0gE?t=680

    • L C Matthew
      February 7, 2020

I must add further with the departure of Ross a significant amount of revenue have been lost in the north and now people cannot pay their loans. Pretty soon the banks and credit unions will be left bleeding. If aid bank could not make 1 million in profit and after getting 20 million of CBI money still could not get new loans that should be a sign the economy is not well. I can tell from your threats the passport revenue has plateaued and maybe in trouble because you sound desperate. Over the past few years i have seen money distributed for political favours without accountability or measures on the returns on investment. It was done only to be liked with no sustainability in mind. The people are the ones who should be mad making demands of you why the taxes were not collected and where have all the millions gone? Because it is there tax and you were put there to manage properly. The people of Dominica should be shaming you and ensure you account for every dime from passport sale

      • L C Matthew
        February 7, 2020

To taxes. That was your job. Now you using your reverse psychology and passing blame on business when it is government responsibility to do audits and ensure taxes are collected. I love my country but it is a shame to see how timid and blinded we have become. People afraid to loose the only gov job they have. Well the problem is when you afraid to do what is right you will eventually loose it all. St.jean was absolutely right. Dominica have very strong bright people, like lions. The problem is a pack of lions led by a jack… who’s only concern is he and his legacy and how many elections he can win at the expense of the country.
Yes i said it. St. Jean was absolutely right

Mirror, mirror on the red wall…………that person was the Minister of Finance!!!! I guess collecting taxes was not a priority as long as the CBI funds were coming into the public and private purses. It appears that the CBI and Kool Out funds are drying up after the elections now the PM has to find other revenue??

I hope that the names of all those who owe taxes should be published. Those names may be linked back to the those who supported the PM and his failed policies. The regular hard working folks cannot afford to owe those high delinquent taxes on the bare minimum wages that are paid in Dominica.

    God help us all.

Why was this allowed to get out of hand? The workers at Inland Revenue should be blamed. Isn’t there a collections department? Were the employees aggressively pursuing Business Owners for money owed? The accounts should not have reached that stage of delinquency. Yes, the proprietors should adhere to the rules but we must understand that some people will not go by the books. That’s where Inland Revenue must come in. I would definitely admonish the Management of Inland Revenue.
