PM Skerrit aims for ‘one people, one vision, one Dominica’

Prime Minister Skerrit being sworn in

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said he is heartened that in the midst of a pandemic and migration of residents due to social and economic fallout from various disasters his party received approximately 87% of the votes cast in the 2019 general elections.

The Electoral Office has not released the official figures but preliminary data indicates that of the 60,602 registered voters in the 15 constituencies which were contested, 18,320 electors voted representing a voter turnout of 30.2%.

He made the disclosure while addressing his swearing-in ceremony held at the State House Conference Center on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Skerrit led the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) to its sixth successive victory in general elections held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

“I am especially heartened that in the midst of contributing factors such as the ongoing pandemic and natural migration of residents as a consequence of the social and economic fallout from various disasters our party still received approximately 87% of the votes secured in the 2019 general elections in the 15 seats contested,” he said.

He continued, “I am confident that had there been a contest in the 6 seats we would surpass what we got in 2019.”

In an effort to unify the country under “one people, one vision, one Dominica”, the Prime Minister said he plans to meet with the two independent candidates who won the elections in their respective constituencies and all candidates who contested the 2022 elections as part of a series of such engagement, and hope they accept his invitation.

“I shall also meet with the leader of the opposition, [Thomson Fontaine] thereafter. Our hope also is that the invitation will be accepted,” he stated.

He said Dominica requires “all of us” to be at the service of the people.

“The internecine political rambling in our country must come to a stop,” he remarked. “There are way too many challenges and important matters of state which will preoccupy the energy, talent, and skills of our people rather than fighting brother against brother and sister against brother.”

Skerrit continued, “This country is too small and I will do everything in my capacity as Prime Minister to ensure that we can close the gap and focus on matters which affect and are important to the people of Dominica.”

Furthermore, he pledged to do all in his power to propel this glorious nation to sustain growth, progress, and prosperity in a peaceful environment.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister revealed that it’s his intention to address the nation on the evening of Monday, December 12, to reveal the composition of the new executive of government as well as key appointments.

He said the new cabinet of ministers will be sworn into office on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the state house.

He congratulated all those who participated in the democratic process of elections and who nominated themselves as candidates.

hold it hold it. if there are 60,602 registered voters in Dominica, and a total population of 70, 000 then that would mean we only have 9,398 children/unregistered voters in Dominica. That would also indicate that 86.57% of the population are adults, and only 13.43% are children. If these stats are to be taken seriously, then that means we have a very old population, and not enough people to fill in the workforce. or are the majority of registered voters living abroad?

I said it before and I say it again, a huge amount of registered voters actually reside in graveyards doted around Dominica. This is a prime example of figures not adding up, but they insist the election was above board. Only in Dominica…!

He said Dominica requires “all of us” to be at the service of the people. Really? You only now realised that after your twenty lus years of hateful political partisan and division among the Dominican people? The party of “if you not red you dead” and “sousay sell”? Well you well late!
Skerrit, God will be the judge of all of our hearts, including you wicked people! Up to now some Dominican elderly roof leaking and never received assistance from the Government of Dominica because they were not Labourite! And that my brother has been your ‘one people, one vision, one Dominica’ for the past twenty plus years! Can you fix it? Can you change? We shall see and history shall be the judge on that. But God shall be the judge of what is really in our hearts, and you have shown us with your lies, deception and vile, hateful words towards our fellow Dominicans that you are evil at heart!

The mandate to control you and your thugs. He does not need a mandate. ALL HE HAS TO DO IS LOCK YOU UP IF YOU MISBEHAVE.

DNO please allow me a minute to use this subject matter to make an unrelated spiritual statement.
I grew up loving and appreciating the Bible as the Holy Book that contains God’s holy word.
But to see how known very corrupt people, thieves, liars, adulterers , murderers and characteristics of the Devi holding the Bible on their chest, I am sorry but sometimes I am left to wonder if the Bible is as holy as I was taught. I am not sure those in Islamic countries use the Qurʾān in such disrespect and it hurts even more to hear pastors and Evangelists refer to such people as people of integrity. My God have we lost it? Have these preachers read proverbs 12:22 “ Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD,
but those who act faithfully are his delight.”.
    Have they read proverbs
28:6 “Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity
than a rich man who is crooked in his ways.”
And pro11:3 “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them…

One people? I heard one of the speakers on a DLP platform state very clearly……”You scratch our back, and we will scratch yours”. What are we to take from that? One people only if you support our party?

In order to achieve this one people, one vision, one Dominica’ notion, you must first eradicate that gang mentality in which Ministers and supports must don red clothing, to demonstrate your allegiance nor as a sign of solidarity with the DLP. If not the supporters the Ministers, especially the PM must really consider abandoning that notion/habit. After all PM you are the PM of all Dominicans, and Ministers you represent every member in your constituency, and Dominica by extension. This color identification ostracizes those who are not your supports or may turn-off potential supporters, who are about country and not party. Move away from that gang mentality. PM DO BETTER!!!!

According to Enstein’s famous dictum, we cannot solve our present problems with the same persons or level of mind-set that created them in the first place. There is reason to be skeptical of the Dear Leader’s aim for “one, people, one vision, one Dominica.” His party’s mantra is “All Shall Eat.” The reality is some some have been eating all, their bellies are big, big, big, while others are still very hungry. Actions speak louder than words, Sir!

There are enough natural and material resources in Dominica for all to live well. The issue is Roosevelt, his family and his brown-nosers hog 95% of the country’s assets while 5% of the leftover is pitied to the tens of thousands of citizens.

Is that your vision for 2023 going forward? More noise. Empty noise. Dominicans pay you no mind. Whom are you addressing everyday? Tell me your real name and I will tell you who you actually are. I know one thing – you were not born in France. If you were, France President Macron would have kicked you away longtime. Skerrit is cool so he lets you run your mouth until you get tired. You and Juanita are two of a kind journalist. I do not think the BBC in London would hire either of you.

Juanita, go rest your bones for another 5 years and put an end to your spilling filth and garbage on this forum. Did you not get it? We are back in control. Dominicans did not listen to you, they listened to me. You jealous of their big belly. Join the party, so your belly can get big also.

Now we want to play interpretation with numbers. Has there been a struggle of different race class or creed in Dominica looking for own identity. There is already one Dominica under a flag a national anthem, a pledge and a constitution which you the lil punk from villecase need to respect. You have been in office over 20 years and what we have seen increased is your personal wealth and concentration of power. Dominica already had a vision and it was certainly not begging, dependency, debt and moral devaluation. Dominica vision is not your personal vision. This one party Chinese influenced state you are trying to force on people using state resources and manipulation of money will only bring one thing. Revolt. You have divided the people and i voted labour party in 2000 because of the perceived corruption at the time. Today you nothing but a disgrace and a dirty rotten scoundrel. I feel sorry for those party loyalist who support your mental instability blindly

that’s the effort you have to put to legitimize your nominated position…….only 30% of voters came out…….that is the real issue of debate!
you refuse to acknowledge that your supporters did not show full support!!!!……that will haunt you……especially in private!!!!!
30% of votes cast doesn’t relate to one people, one nation nor one vision
    you’re a fake!!!!!

Skerrit try as hard as you can, but data will remain data. What should be worrying to you is the number of labourites who did not vote, despite you illegal voice note. Remember too, in 14 constituencies out of the 15, your labour party got less votes in 2022 than in 2019…So brother you destructive political career is nearing an end. Your legacy will be a sordid display of unethical behaviour, corruption, bribery, insults, cheating, LYING, denegrating, castigating, etc…

Skerrit, with you on the helm there will never be ‘one people, one vision, one Dominica’. You had over 20 years to implement that policy but what did you do instead…, exactly the opposite! Get out of here, Skerrit. You can’t fool us anymore! You know you messed up with this election and you know it will sooner rather than later cost you the premiership.

There is no representation of one nation, one people with those stats.
