PM Skerrit calls for creativity and caution in fighting the COVID-19 corona virus

Prime Minister Skerrit delivering an address to the nation on Tuesday night

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has appealed to Dominican entrepreneurs/ restaurant owners to be innovative and creative when conducting business in order to minimize the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus (COVID-19).

He was presenting a live statement on Tuesday.

At present Dominica has recorded 7 positive cases of the Coronavirus.

“If persons cannot gather inside a restaurant they should introduce takeout or pickup services,” he advised. “You may also consider delivery.”

According to Skerrit the issue is not the conduct of business, it is the gathering and social interaction of the individuals.

“Therefore I am urging you to come up with creative ways of conducting your business that will not involve persons gathering and endangering their lives as well as those of your employees and even yourself,” Prime Minister Skerrit stated. “Employees be wise.”

He continued, “Prepare and pack your lunch at home… place your order early and arrange for pick-up or delivery.”

He warns persons not to endanger their health by congregating in large groups.

Skerrit reiterated that the key to fighting this disease is the practice of good hygiene

“Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly, keep your hands from your face, cough into a tissue and dispose of it right away,” he urged. “Sneeze into your elbow if you do not have a tissue immediately at hands.”

He went on to say, minimize visits to seniors and persons with pre-existing medical conditions.

“If you have to take something to granny leave it on the step and call and tell her it is there,” Skerrit advised.

He told seniors that they should not put themselves in harm’s way.

“Call for what you need and have it delivered to your doorstep,” Skerrit stated.

He added,  “Do not hug people, do not shake their hands, I know you love to go to church, but for the time being listen to the service on your radio or watch it on television.”

P.M. have the means to sit on a luxury yacht offshore and have vetted, virus free people to look after his needs. He can easily isolate himself and not even use commercial flights to go about but use sanitised rprivate jets and helicopters. He can afford to have his private ventilator if he wants…………. But what about us Roosevelt???

He’s right to ask people to be creative but is also right for us to say that he should have closed the border. Just says he has expectations of us but we also had expectations of him.

Roosevelt one who has the ability to think cognitively, and are knowledgeable of the English language would not indulge in the nonsense; the garbage you speak boy!

And  I mean boy in every literal sense of the word, because I do not regard you as a man; you are an underdeveloped boy without any academics, you are uneducated academically.

How can you suggest entrepreneurs be creative in fighting a deadly disease as this virus?

    Instead of talking that crap!

In the event you simply want to be seen and  heard, you should advise them to close their food shop and go home!

So, let me educate you: to be creative relates to; or involving the imagination or original ideas of an individual, especially in the production of an artistic work!

These cook shop owners are not medical professionals; what can they do to help stop the spread of the disease except shut the damn doors!

Medical doctors have contracted the sickness in hospitals; never mind  them; without medical…

Thank you Captain Obvious. Why do we call this guy PM if we have to use our imagination in this time of crisis. Best of all, he still hasn’t closed our borders. The man is useless!

    this man just dont get it. Skerrit, your people are looking fro leadership advice and not nonsensical mumbo-jumbo. You seems to be hell bent on washing your hands and leaving Dominican businesses to do what they believe will work   . Garson grow some bore-alls and show some leadership please! Yes it was you who took great pride I must say in continuously repeating “leadership matters”. Now you need to show some, you have fallen flat.

This is total madness! And what really hurts is you all continue to spew lies on your favorite radio stations leaving the ignorant even more vulnerable. But, according to JD I am the first to tell those in fear; “DOH COMPLAIN”. Take allu 5 more years of Punjabe Wisdom.  I am so mad that I am literally shaking

Creativity and cautious? Boy to me, that’s like saying “go to hell” it’s not my damn business. When in such difficult times when people are anxious, scared, looking for medication etc you as Prime Minister you telling them to be creative but at the same time putting your disclaimer as be cautious, people are likely to go and drink or eat anything in the name of creativity, to fight this virus and end up hurting and killing themselves. With two professional doctors in the cabinet working as health ministers, Skerrit should NOT take it upon himself to address the coronavirus without the professionals to warn and caution people against misleading statements of Skerrit. We see that in Arizona two days ago when Trump spoke about an untested medicine that will help fight coronavirus and although the doctor with Trump quickly said it was unproven, yet a man took it in the name of being proactive and creative and ended up killing himself and his wife who also took it was in critical…

The call for a bipartisan parliamentary committee or a national committee on Covid19 is not unreasonable. This is a pandemic and the Government must involve the Parliamentary opposition and all Dominican of opposing views in the fight against Covid 19 as well.

May everyone be vigilant in protecting their health and well-being and the health and well-being of each other by adopting good hygiene and following the Covid19 protocols established by the World Health Organization and Dominica’s Ministry of Health.

    Be safe, stay safe

PM..you are a joke and a danger to the Dominican people.
In an economy that is unproductive, a weakened health system, poorly funded schools and education, poor infrastructure and deep divisions flamed by you politicians , you are now asking Dominicans to get water from stone?!
Creative how? When most persons live hand to mouth, and their source of help from foreign relatives is precarious given that they themselves might now be out of work due to this pandemic.
This isn’t a hurricane situation where only 1 or 2 islands are affected and the rest of the world can be begged to help Dominica. This is a situation where every country is in danger and each one is looking out for their own.
Perhaps you could help the Dominican people by sharing all of that passport money..smh..
