PM Skerrit in Guyana for CARICOM Heads meeting

PM Skerrit with Guyana’s President David Granger (left)

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit arrived in Guyana on Tuesday night for the Twenty-Eighth Intersessional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM, which is being hosted under the Chairmanship of President David Granger on February 16-17.

Both men had on Tuesday attended the opening of the Argyle International Airport in St. Vincent and traveled to Guyana on the same flight.

Economic Development, Crime and Security and International Relations are among the key issues for discussion by CARICOM Heads of Government during the meeting.

Skerrit is the outgoing Chairman with Granger replacing him.

In his speech as outgoing Chairman, Skerrit spoke of the reality of climate change and its impact on the region.

“Hardly any of us in the Region has been untouched in some form by the effects of the phenomenon and this emphasizes the need for the implementation of the measures contained in the Paris Agreement,” he stated. “Of particular importance to us is the Green Climate Fund which has been established to assist in adapting to and mitigating the effects of climate change. It is critical that there must be relatively quick access to this Fund by those it is intended to assist. As laudable as it is, it will be of minimal impact, if disbursement is as sluggish as has been the experience with other institutions and agencies.”

He also pointed out to what he described as “the rising tide of nationalism across the globe” which he said is “supported by populist movements” and which “threatens the multi-lateral system as never before and does not portend well for small states.”

“Further, the concentrated attacks on our economies, whether through the withdrawal of correspondent banking services, listing our countries as non-cooperative tax jurisdictions or denigrating our citizenship by investment programmes, confirm that we are operating in an increasingly hostile international environment,” Skerrit said. “This is compounded by the fact that most of us have been graduated out of receiving concessional development financing; even though there has been some progress in mitigating the impact of this particular mechanism.”

He added, “Mr. Chairman, we must acknowledge that we stand a better chance of combatting and surviving the challenges, if we work closely together. This is why, therefore, we must take the necessary action to pursue vigorously those issues that would advance our integration movement. It is in our individual interest to act collectively. The helping hand and solidarity which we so willingly share in adversity must in the same spirit be extended to all other aspects of our integration. We must prepare ourselves to confront this era of uncertainty in global affairs with a flexibility and innovativeness built on the solid platform of integration, economic co-operation, human and social development, security co-operation and foreign policy coordination. To do less would be to deny the people of our Community the opportunity of living in a viable, prosperous and
safe society.”

What is all this fuss about? In the Caribbean, we like to make mountains out of molehills. It was not that long ago the leader of the opposition in Dominica was conducting an interview with the Prime Minister. Oh, how the tables have turned. Who would have thought that?

The Splendid isle of Dominica is now in a crisis thanks to the Citizenship By Investment Project. It all started when a crabby Iranian was offered a passport after he invested some of his country’s largesse in the nature island.
The Caribbean with the exception of Trinidad does not have oil or many natural resources which can help keep our economies afloat. The governments of the region have to seek ways and means to look after their people. One of the means available at their disposal is the Citizenship Investment project. Most of the Western countries have such a program in place where rich foreigners are given passports if they can invest up to one million or more in states like the UK, Canada, US, and…

We are being monitored and victimized because of our actions PM. Rethink your strategy for taking Dominica to the next level. Cease with the CBI program and here are a few ideas from a young graduate.
    1. Invite universities to set up on Island
    2. Create factories……Canefield Industrial site is vacant
    3. Reduce the size of your cabinet and all the inactive Ambassadors around the world being paid
    That’s a start.

One day Dominicans like myself will see what Lennox is saying will have a grave impart on our family lives. Our families in the us Virgin Islands ,America and the other countries all over the world. People from Irak purchase Venezuelian Passports in order for them to have the facility to to travel where ever they want to.Most of these people who purchased these passports don’t want to be known and who knows what are their intentions…Dominicans will suffer from that passport selling business…the majority of people who are employed in politics after Skerrit won the election are his friends…The baroness who insulted Dominicans has lost her job because of her inability to do her job ;but she knows how to insult people.Dominica is improving in the reverse.Skerrit must go…

    #SKERRITTMUSTGO.

So didn’t we expect the international community to pressure Skerritt and his Cabal for that PASSPORT-FOR-CASH SCHEME?

Expect more movements of laundered money, or from proceeds of other illegal acts, by those so called “diplomats”, with our diplomatic passport.. Because they do not want the money trail to be traced. Already, their PASSPORT-FOR-CASH money is being held up in some banks. They do not want to submit the so called “DUE DILIGENCE” reports, they say they conducted.

The Monfared, Ng Lap Seng, Madueke, Francesco Corallo, and the others, all with our diplomatic passports, are in serious trouble with the Law. It’s no coincidence. It is about
RUBBING SHOULDERS, with those kind of culprits. Secret deals with our passports. Millionaires a few have become, in quick time, on the backs of the majority of struggling people.

The World knows about Skerritt and his suspicious links with those foreigners. He earns no respect among CARICOM…

then to the Bin borbol then the crabs money paying for the Villas and his buddy fronting 4 him. then we arrived here where we are today. He goes to Guyana and said “the rising tide of nationalism across the globe” which he said is “supported by populist movements” and which “threatens the multi-lateral system as never before and does not portend well for small states.” Doesn’t the Iranian guy and all the other crooks having our diplomatic passports doesn’t tie it to the statement.
Skerrit you are gone gone gone. They were parading Chavez as recuperating from cancer. I look at the guy’s photo and knew he was gone. I did not even have to see him in person.( I work with cancer pts. I know well when they are gonna make it or are goners.

Isn’t it ironic that it’s only since these islands started having diplomatic relations with China, that those corrupt political leaders have come out of the woodwork. When we dealt with Europe, the USA,Canada we never had such allegations of corruption. Why?because these mature democratic countries would insist on accountability. But because China’s none involvement in the internal affairs of other countries, these group of recent leaders think that international law has been abolished. It is a shame that instead of using the largesse that China afforded to benefit the country, these leaders and their cronies have gone mad over money, power with no respect.
Imagine Skerritt has gotten so arrogant, that he won’t inform the nation on his dealings, especially with China and some of It’s citizens. He promised that he will give account but we are yet to hear anythingfrom him.The chicken are coming home to roost. Let the dominoes fall one after the other. Thank…

On the other hand, Skerritt has just confirmed what Lennox Linton has been saying all along. We are in under close watch and US banking sanctions, with CBI funds are being frozen or returned to sender. This is very telling: “Further, the concentrated attacks on our economies, whether through the withdrawal of correspondent banking services, listing our countries as non-cooperative tax jurisdictions or denigrating our citizenship by investment programmes, confirm that we are operating in an increasingly hostile international environment,” Skerrit said. #skerrittmustgoNOW

I am very afraid for Dominica because these wicked, evil, and corrupt men are bent on doing some more evil so they could blame them on UWP. Traditionally during Carnival they announcing cameras planted all over Roseau. You realize NOT one thing this time? If they were concerned safety of citizens definitely with the atmosphere in DA these days, they would do the right thing and cancel carnival. But they wont because something is telling me that they may have arranged with visitors to carry a plot $ run, so opposition will be jailed.

Put your crack pipe down. To even write this b.s. shows how depraved you are from making a stupid joke that people could laugh. Just because being a jackass and ignorant are free in abundance doesn’t mean you have to soak it all in. You know what is shameful and disgraceful a woman carried you nine long months in her womb and placed you on earth, and in 2017 you had the unmitigated gall of a chimp to use technology and write this crap.

You speak like someone who is indeed on crack. So perhaps you are the one who needs to lay down that crack pipe. Ask your leader what was his purpose in Guyana and why did he have to trick the protocol officer stating that he was part of the PM’s delegation. Ask him whether he used his Diplomatic passport to get away with his lies.
