The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) is investigating two shooting incidents which occurred over the Christmas holiday, in which two men were the ill-fated victims.
The first incident occurred on the morning of December 25, 2022, in the community of Paix Bouche.
Information from police sources is that during a Christmas morning fete in the aforementioned community, a fight ensued between some of the party goers which resulted in Lenny John being shot.
Following the shooting, John was transported to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) where he underwent surgery. He is currently a patient in stable condition at the hospital .
The second incident occurred two days later, December 27, in Tarish Pit.
Information surrounding the incident is sketchy at press time however, Police sources did confirm to Dominica News Online (DNO) that on Tuesday morning, Andel Meade, sustained a gunshot wound whilst in the community of Tarish Pit.
He is currently at a patient at the DCFH nursing his injuries.
DNO will continue to follow this police story and report any new information which becomes available.
The militia is forever ‘investigating’ this, that and everything. Shame that very seldom they come up with a conviction. They are puppets of the CM and glorified bodyguards for the ruler and his tribe, nothing more nothing less.
I love in the United States and have visited Dominica several times. It makes me sad to read headlines of things going on there, shootings, violence , murder. Every time we visited we commented on the beautiful island, great organic fruits and vegetables, the wonderful people who are so nice and polite, seemed like every time we went we went back in time to the way things “used to be”. Now reading some of these headlines it makes us sad to hear . We pray for the wonderful people of Dominica and hope things stay “the way they used to be”.
I know, they too quickly to adapt what’s bad neglect what’s good. But it’s so easy to cast blame on the people. The blame falls squarely on the politicians and the political popularity contest. Qualified, knowledgeable, fair and patriotic people don’t put their foot in to uplift the nation. Instead it’s “shake your pampalam” fete and popular mouth pieces who win. It’s an utter embarrassment. Those who ran left those who couldn’t behind and they do what they could with what they have. We are witnessing Haiti number 2, the early years. When refugee boats start leaving know its too late.
When I say politicians I’m referring to all parties past and present. You have failed us. Your incompetence is staggering, your arrogance is crippling, your lack of vision is blinding. Let it be known that despite your illusions of grandeur, the only people you can fool are the ones who celebrate with you.
We need BETTER coast guard presence in our waters espacialy in those hot spots known for trafficking. i cant6 remember the last time i seen a coast guard boat on water. we have coast guard still ? asking for a friend.
The guns are coming both by boat and right through customs. Every week we have barrel after barrel of guns entering fond cole right in the site of customs. And the police must know it by now. Still, nothing is done
Well Skerrit has turned Christmas into another fete of partying and drunkess, so shootings and violence are expected. We lucky we did not have fatalities

Grateful that the two victims’ lives were spared. Too many illegal firearms are in the country. The border remains too porous. Law enforcement needs to improve surveillance and upgrade their investigative strategies among other things. A speedy and full recovery to both victims.
