Police make arrests for fire arms, ammunition and drugs during routine traffic stop

Three male individuals were arrested in separate incidents for firearms, ammunition and drugs during a routine traffic stop conducted yesterday, in the Layou area.

Police say the arrests occurred between 4:45pm and 5:30pm.

One male individual had in his possession one unlicensed .38 revolver, and one live round of .38 ammunition. Another individual had in his possession one unlicensed Beretta. Yet another, had in his possession 65 grams of cannabis.

The men are in police custody. Investigations are ongoing.

Meantime, Roy Andrew, a of Portsmouth, was arrested Thursday August 2, at Castle Comfort, for possession of one unlicensed .22 pistol and 20 live rounds of .22 ammunition.

He was charged for the offenses, and was brought before the Magistrate’s Court, where he was fined $10,000.

    What do they do with the guns that they recover from Criminal A?
    Do they then sell it to Criminal B?

    Routine stop my foot. They had a tip off or were watching someone. Police used to do routine stops several years ago.
    I bet that they are out on bail soon.

    A small amount of cannabis,free up the man.The pistol?To me $10 000.00is still a joke.These guys always telling people how they will kill,an kill,an kill…They need to go up there Stocky), and meditate on how they can effect changes to their lives.Too many guns on our streets.
    Now tell us the Dominica connection re the barrel of guns.One is in jail in the US already.

    Where’s the coke. Cannabis? It’s high time this weed gets legalized, in the least as part of crime fighting so that it doesn’t have to go the same avenues as coke and other hard drugs. If alcohol or tobacco were illegal I can just imagine, bad as the idea is, someone bringing some cask rum or high leaf to someone else accompanied by a gun for protection.
