Police involved shooting incident at Massacre

Members of the police drug task force were early Sunday morning, engaged  in a shooting incident in Massacre involving some persons on a vehicle which they were chasing, according to reports.

The reports indicate that the incident took place  on the main road about mid way between the two bridges inside the village.

Police are said to have taken one person into custody while they continued to search for others.

Attempts by DNO to get more information on the incident from the police have so far been unsuccessful.

The Ag. Police PRO told DNO earlier this evening that he was still gathering information on the incident police would issue a statement as soon as all the relevant information has been obtained.

DNO is continuing its efforts to obtain more information on the incident.

Police need to chase the drug traders, not the dealers. Without a drug trade, you have no dealers! Just so you all understand the dynamics of how things work.

haha so they need to go into Colombia? lol it is impossible to stop drug trade. to kill the trade you have to kill supply and supply will not be stopped in the Amazon my friend. nor will it stop in Afghanistan and other places that supply because it is legal to grow puppies on some places. and as long as supply is there demand will exist. they need to cut off supply to dominica, not the trade. the trade is well beyond our control.

no crime was committed the system is the criminals. they create the drugs they create the industry. they decide wat is legal and wat is not so in effect they create what a crime is. if drugs were legal there wud be no crime. think of it the pioneers of modern society like Sigmund Freud are the same ones who also were the pioneers of cocaine. so go figure. maybe if illegal drugs were legal and regulated we would have less of those incidents and abuse of drugs on a whole.

leave de world alone, drugs were not created by the system and then make it illegal… if you are looking for a conspiracy theory to try and blame the system then you’re just as guilty…. if you want to fight to decriminalise drugs or asking to make it legal just say SO…

I heard Angelo Allen is saying on Matt, that parents heard the gun shoots and these parents took their children out off their homes including babies and come to stand where the shoots were coming from? Don’t You think these people are crazy?

Did Angelo knew what took place before the vehicle got to Massac?

I know some officer do not use their discrition but so are some our Dominican citizens with our tongues.

We ask for protection from the ills that are happening in our country but when it is happening some of us defend the criminals.

        December 10, 2012

Nobody got hurt – the alleged dealer did not even get scratched. If the police had fired indiscriminately you’d think they would have hit someone.
According to the latest report the police shot out two tyres of the alleged dealer’s car and found seven k. of cocaine in the vehicle.
If the police used unwarrented force they’ll have to answer for that, as they should but Angelo did not witness the actual shooting and he should have ascertained all the facts before making the pronouncement he did.

How do you really please us black people, eh? “Crime escalating … POLICE DO SOMETHING!!!” Police come out and do something … “No, no, NOOOOO, Police! … not so … not so … not so! you wrong … you stupid, you foolish!” Well, Mr. Affection8, criminals have no rules of engagement. So once the police see “civilians”, they call off the chase? Then all the criminals do is just do like islamic cowards – dash in among the people and they safe. You watching too much TV … these times are not like the days when two armies had to meet in an isolated field somewhere in the middle of nowhere to fight a battle. Our police are now trained to “take out” criminals even from the embrace of a baby and the baby still safe. Good work, police! Our people have to learn to decide what they want – Let police do their work, or stop complaining and moaning about crime rate!

        December 9, 2012

Do you know the meaning of Massacre? It is stated that in ancient days a priest or missionary or someone else (probably a few people) were murdered there which is why it is called Massacre. Those who did not know now know it. It is too bad the name of this village is branded as such. A research could be made into it.
I do think that the name of this village should have been changed a long time ago. There are, of course, some nice people residing there. I know a few of them.

      • Malgraysa
        December 10, 2012

Justice & truth. We are not all dummies in Dominica. Of course we know Massacre= massacre. Nothing to do with priest being murdered (you have church too much on your mind and probably want to create more martyrs!). We know our history and it is alleged the place got its name from the massacre that took place there when colonel Philip Warner treacherously murdered his half brother, known as “Indian Warner” (who had a Kalinago mother), after sailing from Antigua to revenge a Kalinago raid on that island at the end of 1674. I recommend you get yourself a copy of Dr. Honychurch’s “The Dominica Story”.

Ask Dr. Carissa Ettienne, Dr. Thomas, Financial Secretary of Dominica, other doctors, Head of department at Teachers College Mr. Joseph, Artist Earl Ettienne, and yes some younger ones too but DNO will say my comment is too long so I will stop here for now. Why mention Our Lord Jesus Christ’s Name? What did He do to you? Are you not aware of The Third Commandment of God, “Thou Shalt Not Take The Name of The Lord Thy God in Vain”? It is blasphemy, a grievous sin to do so.

A holy man called the Cure of Ars (since departed), St. John Vianney, the holy priest of Ars said: God gave men only Ten Commandments and One of the Ten has for its sole object the reverence due to His Holy Name. He used to say that it was an astounding miracle that people who used His Holy Name in vain were not struck dead on the spot. But he warned them, “If the sin of blasphemy is rampant in your home (I am adding in your mind, on your tongue and from your lips), it will surely perish.
It is also said that: Often His Holy Name is used as an expression of speech, for instance “My god!” with no real thought of God or calling upon Him. Also we should have the utmost love and respect for the Holy Name of Jesus Christ, of which “every knee should bend in Heaven, on earth, and ‘under the earth.’ (Phillip.2:10) Let us always strive to love and honor the Holy Name of God, using His Name only in prayer and adoration and thanksgiving.
Also when respectfully speaking to others about him or writing about him. Therefore, for your own sake, please avoid calling His Holy Name in vain.

DNO, it look like the police will face more and more challenges…..seeing that they are executing their ‘politically correct agenda’.

Why do you not contact the police and ask for their job description and their obligations in exercising their duties to the public and to curb crime? You could learn from that and not accuse them of carrying out their duties.
Criminals of today are no easy matter to deal with. Among other crimes, they care not about the safety of others. I suggest that you keep your inquisition to yourself.
It is not DNO’s responsibiity to perform a research of the police and their obligations. DNO reports/posts the News as they occur and according to what is told. I hope you comprehend that.

    • Justice and Truth
      December 9, 2012

So what? Who do you blame for that? Life is a two-way street. People must also try to help themselves. They cannot depend on the government to land a job in their lap. They must also attend school and complete it in order to get a good paying, legal job.
They must also help themselves. Dominica is a tropical country. Grow fruits and vegetables which are healthy and sell them. Make delicacies as cookies and cakes, etc., and sell them.
Sew your own clothes. There are men and women who sew their own clothes. It is cost-saving.
Be frugal. Women also, do your own hair rather than go to a hairdresser. Spend less on technology of any kind and other items which are costly.
Christians know what they should do in times of difficulties. Keep in mind that many people throughout the world are unemployed and are undergoing hardship. Dominicans are not alone.
Last but not least, God help those who help themselves and not to the property of others. Give Him due worship, praise and pray. Ask him to assist you. As you do, be patient.

well lets just say that if the employment situation is not fixed the work of the task force will increase. cause when dudes get desperate the fear of death and being maimed goes out of the door and the urge to feed one self and to live takes precedence. so even though it means killing or thieving or kidnapping, and as more of this happens the harder it is to stop. the atmosphere of lawlessness has to change and it starts with those employed to run the country!!!

However, on Thursday evening (if I recall) three men entered a home in Mississauga, Ontario, a suburb of Toronto as I would call it but far away enough. As I heard and read through the Media, a man, his wife and a baby were inside their house. The resident, man, shot one of the thieves. He died in their home. Two escaped. The one who died resided in Toronto. In discussing it with someone, I stated, it is too bad they were not all killed. So we do have the wild, wild, west here as well and too much of it.

No matter what, it is so hard to comprehend why some Dominicans have guns and why they are using them. A place like Dominica was such a quiet and safe country. Sadly, Dominicans hear of and have to put up with all those crimes. When all is quiet, there are some who will disturb the peace.
They defy the Law because they know if they get caught, they will be bailed out; someone or some people will stand bail for them. Their sentence will not be harsh, thanks to the effort of their lawyers.
The Law must do more to incarcerate those criminals and not allow them to get bail.

The streets are narrow in the village. This is no place to have a shoot-out. :) Some people could get hurt. Of course, if the police was exercising their duty, I do not blame them with what they have to put up with these days.
There is a bridge which divides Checkhall and Massacre and vice versa. I know some people residing above the bridge in Checkhall in the new residential area. One is a good friend of mine. If they heard the shots, I can imagine how scared the family was. I will be making a few telephone calls to DA prior to Christmas and will also phone this friend.

Hope DA don’t change into places like JA. Judges and jury need to be removed an replace with serious ones not those that take deals under the table.

Considering the population of DA it is already bad as it is. The Law must be more stringent with them which may deter crimes in the long run. If it continues as is, it will be compared to Jamaica and Trinidad. The government should try and do something about that before it gets worst than it is.
