Antigua PM congratulates Skerrit

ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer has congratulated his Dominican colleague, Roosevelt Skerrit, following his party’s resounding victory in the general election on Friday.

Spencer telephoned Skerrit on Saturday indicating that the two islands have always enjoyed excellent relations.

The Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister said he was also looking forward to continue working with Dominica in the advancement of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the wider Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

“Dominicans have once again placed their confidence in the hands of a leader who has shown over the years that his interest lies in the advancement of his people and Antigua and Barbuda is prepared to continue the excellent working relationship with the Roosevelt Skerrit administration for the advancement of both of our peoples,” Spencer said.

The Dominica Labour Party (DLP) won 17 of the 21 seats contested in the December 18 general elections.Spencer

I am young Dominican and I must state that I am disappointed at the level of conversation posted here. Why is it so difficult for us to converse without the mud slinging, the pesronal character assasination. In colloquial terms ” Eh Las Bondieu ” What trends are you adults setting for us young people.

I am distrubed by the fact that there is talk going around stating that Dominica is like Cuba and that we have become communist. I have received many phone calls from friends and family who reside abraod because of all this hype that is being created. People stop IT!!!! Last time I checked democracy was alive and well in Dominica.

To the persons who continue to wish bad upon this “BELOVED ISLAND DOMINICA” I say to them I speak BLESSINGS and GOD’S FAVOR over us ALL in DOMINICA because Whatever happens here affects US ALL.

People ELECTIONS HAVE COME AND GONE it is time for NATION B UILDING, I hope and pray that ALL DOMINICANS will put aside PARTY COLORS and put All heads together to move this country forward.

    God Bless DOMINICA.

Well said unity, I wish I could shake your hands. You have proven yourself to be one of the very few intelligent ones who comment on these sites. I am just so blessed by your sentiments and I pray God that there are many more like you out there. Many Dominicans seem to forget that life goes on after an election. Thank God that we still have some youth like you who have back bones and are able to stand and put the so called educated older folks to shame. Well said and God bless you and our island Dominica.

Concerned, thats based purely on ignorance. The so-called one party state, because DLP won so many seats. Be reminded that in 1980 DFP won 17 seats, still no one party state is it. UWP and others that may come may stand a chance if the come with a strong team with solid plans. They clearly did not do that this year thus they lost. No right thinking democratic individual would want a one party state.
