(DNO) After much controversy, Dominica Labour Party Senator Dayton Baptiste has been endorsed as the candidate for by-elections in Marigot.
Baptiste contested the December 18, 2009 general elections against the incumbent Edison James and lost.
He said however, the lack of representation by James has paved the way for his win in Marigot.
“My chances are great and it’s just a matter for the people to come out. They are obviously fed up with their UWP representative Edison James who has decided not to effectively represent them. They are tired with what is happening in Marigot and I am certain of that. No development, no representation. I am happy for the opportunity,” he said.
He said he is elated that the DLP has selected him once again to contest that seat.
“I am ready and waiting for the by election. I am happy that they have endorsed me. I am willing to work with anyone who is ready to take Marigot to the next level,” he added.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has announced by elections to be held in Marigot and Salisbury on July 9, 2010.
