Elected member for Marigot Edison James is accusing the Dominica Labour Party of making early attempts to bribe the people of Marigot and Salisbury, ahead of by elections on July 09, 2010.
This is a recurrence of the irregularities that took place in the December 18 general elections James said.
He told Kairi’s Heng programme on Monday that the DLP has already begun their bribery tactics in an effort to swing the votes in these constituencies.
“People are still now being given bribing elements. We are hearing about trucks going into Salisbury trying to deliver stuff. I know persons from the Salisbury constituency are already being targeted to be given tickets to come home and vote. The plan is not to do it by charter to give this activity too much exposure but to send the money to have them purchase the tickets,” he said.
James said it is shameful that even while the matter is before the courts, these things could happen.
why i can .send my money home ,and i cannot come home to vote .am i not a dominican .when they tell me i can no longer live in there country where should i go .when eddo organise transport to take people to polling station is that bribry.so when pm organise transport for me to get to the polling station why it is bribery.

Ms Royer it seems you fail to understand what I wrote, so let me help you. If you have the proof why are you allowing Mr James to pass like a fool, get up and stand with him. The reason why the court case is where it is, is because people like you who “say” you are proof that the elections was faulty are “hush, hush” some where hiding. I received a ticket to come down from NY from an agent who represented the UWP up here. thats the only reason I was in Dominica for December 18 Elections. stop it mr James you all doing the same thing. Just a pity I not voting in salisbury or marigot cause maybe i would have gotten another one.
what is goin on in the court right now pertains to the last election. this issue deals with the current by elections ok. I really knew the english language was complicated for even the wise and suffisticated.

Alas Mr.James the party have no money to run the bi-elections, why you running as far as you are saying they are buying their votes just like the general elections, so boycot and hold your head up show your integrity you have been preaching about, or are you afraid that people have started to see that the UWP is dead and has no future, no leadership and no money, come on man tell your supporters the truth you guys are bankrupt.

Mr. James, please stop it. Just show the people evidence of what u are talking about. As far as I am concerned, bribery is a crime. If people have to be bribed, it would be those who are not supporting the DLP. And I am sure they would be willing to give you the evidence. You get my point. We don't bribe supporters.
