Canefield Urban Council to be inaugurated on Friday

The inauguration of the Canefield Urban Council will take place at the Old Mill Cultural Center on Friday, October 7, 2016.

This after the election was held which declared that Maximin B. Powell, Joyce Dupuis, Michael Coipel, Ingrid Abraham and Michale Hazel Timothy as winners.

Powell received 183 votes, Dupuis 161, Coipel 159, Abraham 152 votes and Timothy 51 votes.

Powell is expected to take the oath as the new chairperson of the council.

The government has nominated Frankly Fabien, Alleyne Wilson and Veronica Graham who will join the five elected and will also be sworn in.

A report, obtained by DNO from the Electoral Office, speaks of some minor irregularities at the election but said it was however, fairly conducted.
