Cottage UWP hopeful lays out plans

Burton says he has many plans for the Cottage constituency

United Workers Party (UWP) hopeful for the Cottage constituency, Stewart Burton, says he envisions a financially independent constituency where both the young and older persons can look after themselves.

Burton was speaking at a public meeting in Portsmouth last night.

“I would like to see the young and older persons employed in sustainable jobs so that they will be better able to financially assist themselves, their parents and their grandparents,” he said.

He plans on improving the existing resources in the community.

“The resources in the community will be utilized,” he stated. “My vision is to develop the tourism, the fishing and agriculture in the Cottage constituency, thus enabling the area to attract visitors and investors and to generate the jobs and business opportunities for my people of the Cottage constituency.”

He informed that he would rebuild a fishing site in Capuchin with cold storage, reopen farm lands and a canning industry to reduce fruits wastage in the country, particularly in the north.

According to him, the community has many scenic sites to include the Cabrits, the beaches of Bellhall and Toucarie, the northern eco-tourism link road, waterfalls among others.

He hopes to develop them to their full potential.

Burton will be going head to head with the present parliamentary representative, Reginald Austrie, in the December 8th 2014 general election.

He has contributed to the community for over 40 years. Where have you been…He restored and maintained order by getting rid of the Kidnappers and rapist in the 80s among many other things.I suppose that you would have preferred to see him in the rum shops . He has done so using the right approach, one that is admired and reaches the heart of the community. You now live without fear in your community because of people like Mr Burton. Be grateful. He is a respectable man and is dignified . He will bring that to our community and country.

Mr Burton is saying all the right things, with great ideas to bring sustainable development within the local community. He will do the right thing. For the person lacking in knowledge and couldn’t bother to find out Sustainable jobs relates to local opportunities reaching the grassroots population, giving them the opportunity to improve their standard of living and quality of life, operates on the principle ‘give a man or woman, a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man, or woman, how to fish and feed him for a lifetime’
Our PM and his party operate on giving a fish; a small box of food, or iPads or $100 to people in return for votes. Accept it from him because it’s taxpayers money but vote for UWP and Mr Burton who will teach you how to fish in order to ensure that you will be able to develop and provide for yourself and family for a lifetime plus giving back to your community.

In terms of integrity and respectability BOTH Labor and Uwp supporters would jointly agree that Regie Austrie would need to do some serious attitude adjustments to come up to this man’s level.

Concerned let me ask you the same question

What contribution have you made for your community?

With an attitude like yours I do not see any hope for your community.

What you need is policy not how well you know someone. That attitude is stupid and you need to grow up.

I am posting this post with a sense of relief, I am from Lagoon which happens to be in the Cottage constituents for years I have been asking myself the one question, when are we going to find a pal rep with some class, morals, decency, and God fearing, knowing that without these quality it is almost impossible to govern or represent a constituent, Cottage and the rest of the surrounding community let’s look at it that way, Mr. Burton served us, paid his dues, left his homes for years to serve and protect us, and he did so extremely well, while the current pal rep was busy getting rich, Mr. Burton could have easily go home and retire and enjoy his retirement, but instead this man of honor decided to continue to serve his people and bring quality leadership and morals back to us, so please my people enough of the same BS over and over again, forget the friend thing and for once put DA first and elect Burton for pal rep.

Please Allow me to make a comment on all the so called perfect God fearing individuals. Why haven’t you in the past 15 years bring your new found suggestions to your parl rep. He is just human with 2 eyes and a brain.. He need you as his eyes and ears.. You all sit everyday gossiping about nothing and then when election is called you come running your mouth criticising your parl rep.. That he did nothin.. My friends

    Seek and he shall find
Knock and the door will be open
Ask and it will be given unto you.. Did you ever did any of the above.. Stop this negativity , bashing and wickedness, it does not go down well wit Dominicans…

The man has vision and clearly means what he says. He should be given a chance. He can not be any worse than this man Austrie, who is a horrible man without character, without any morals, just a blind follower to the dictator in waiting.

They keep talking about sustainable Jobs, what does that mean?? then they go on to say this:
“He informed that he would rebuild a fishing site in Capuchin with cold storage, reopen farm lands and a canning industry to reduce fruits wastage in the country, particularly in the north.”

Fishing and agriculture can become sustainable if we were to focus on improving our fishing and agricultural techniques. We must use what we have, we can’t just remove things from air and create jobs. It seems you guys want to stay receiving handouts from DLP and never work a day in your lives.

  18. November 14, 2014

Mr. Burton you have good plans but you seem to forget that you were never seen in this constituency not even in church in the area. How do you think people assess you in terms of your political vision? It is people like you who have ideas and hide them under a bushel until you think that there is an opportunity for your personal gain as in this case parl rep with a salary. If that was not the case, would you have shared these ideas with a youth group aspiring to contribute to the development of a tourism site in the area much less the parl. rep? It is time that we learn and begin to understand that we do not live in isolation but among people of a community and whatever happens in a community be it crime, devastation or development is for the benefit of all and not the myopic selfish individuals who seek to prey when the country’s political climate is most vulnerable.

U so -+@*. It doesn’t take rocket science to know what’s needed in the constituencies and Country. Those are simple things that your pal rep failed to see in the last 15 yrs. No need to go in a “bushel” to pull those ideas out.

This is coming from people who complain that the minister peep peep is MIA.
Let see- the DLP candidate for Colihaut is only now doing BBQ in Colihaut when no one know her in Colihaut.
Talk about salary- what is the reason for Justina Charles doing what she is doing. She publically begged for anther term to secure her pension. Besides she knew what her husband had to endure under Roosevelt, Vince andt rest of the Woolf pack.
I could go on and on but I do realize your naivity so even if I am to go back just 10 years you mst likely will be totally unaware.

What has your current parl rep who has been in that position since 1995 contributed to this constituency? every thing he preys on came as a result of Alleyne Carbon. The only form of development we received went to him, his immediate families and those closely tied to him. Do your homework, you know the truth. You all are the same ones who keep saying that he did nothing absolutely nothing for the area but when election comes around just for a little sewo all you bawling labor power oh yes this time is Labor ka travye which in English means “workers are working”. pure plagiarism. Everybody else who benefitted had to sacrifice something. (some sort of meat) so interesting!
