Leader of the Dominica Freedom Party (DFP), Kent Vital has said that now is the time to arise and take back Dominica, saying it is not the time to be fearful.
He was addressing a party conference held at the Garraway Hotel on Monday.
“We have to arise and take back our country, we can’t be fearful anymore,” he said. “Our country is far from where we want it to be, our beloved country remains economically fragile, a situation that existing prior to Hurricane Maria, but that was worsened by its passage.
According to Vital, poverty is high, unemployment is high, agriculture is weak and tourism is not strong.
“There are desperate cries from our people for help,” he stated.
Vital said his party longs for a country where agriculture is thriving, where farmers can once again be independent and free to speak their minds.
“We long for a country where we can take our place among other Caribbean nations such as St Lucia, Antigua and Barbados who have developed world class tourism industry,” he remarked.
He stated further that the country has the natural setting that can be the basis of a strong tourism offering, “one that can be packaged to be very special and unique and second to none in the Caribbean.”
In terms of education, Vital believes that the important offshore education sector, especially Ross University needs to be restored, “to prevent further Post-Maria economic turmoil in our land.”
“We want our business sector to be reawakened, vibrant, strong and for there to be ample opportunity for the ordinary people to start businesses which can thrive, which can grow and contribute to the economic transformation of our land,” he noted.
He stated also that the DFP will remove poverty and undernutrition because there is too much of it.
“But we must go further than just that as a people,” Vital stressed. “We want all of our people, not just a few, to have the opportunity to live decent and good lives, including living in housing that is not only safe and resilient to the impact of natural disasters, but that is comfortable, attractive and to which we can all feel proud to invite others to share a meal.”
He added, “We want communities where people live in harmony, as good neighbours where we take responsibility for keeping our neighborhoods clean, where we look out for the safety of each other, where we can recreate together irrespective of our political persuasion and do so without unruly behavior.”
He said the DFP also longs for a country that young people can be proud of, one that provides fair and dignified pathways for them to be educated, productive citizens, great managers, good workers, creative entrepreneurs, well rounded good citizens and the leaders of tomorrow.

Dominica needs to go back to being a British colony, the island was much better of under full British control. If the island was still a British colony there would not be so many problems and there would be a jet capable airport long ago. A referendum and vote needs to be taken to ask Britain to take over the island again. It was a mistake asking for independence.

There is no way one could read and understand Revelation chapters 13,, 14, 15, 16,17 and 18 and not realize that Dominica is now opperating under the spirit of the Mark of the Beast. Dominica was already destroyed by Skerrit way before Maria. Maria just bruised our would so the world could see, which reminds me of the wounded Beast of Rev. 13: 3. Like the wounded Beast Skerrit went to the UN and cried about ‘Eden is destroyed”, which caused the world to open their check books to assist us. From Maria Skerrit became a celebrity and he used his position to ensure he is being worshipped by the likes of Judas Iscariot and others. He made sure that in other for hungry people to get hurricane food, they were Red. To get a roof you must be red, which forced people like Joseph Issac to curse Linton and UWp to get a job! I see nothing in DA other than the mark of the Beast. Those with the red mark on their foreheads got money as farmers, while true farmers got nothing. U must have the mark!

I think we might be too late to take back Dominica because right now the Mark of the Beast Government has completely destroyed Dominica and it would take a big miracle from God to restore this once beautiful nature isle of the Caribbean. Right now Dominica reminds me of the Mark of the Beast passage we see in the book of Revelation 13, especially verse 17 which clearly states that no man would be able to buy or sell without having that 666 on their foreheads. In Dominica we might not see the 666 but we sure see the spirit of the Mark of the Beast, which is Red, because here one has to be red to buy or sell, must be red and carry that red seal to get a job, get promoted, get your roof repaired or if you are a carpenter or Mason, you will not get a government job if you are not red and talking red! Presently, Dominica needs all the help and support it can get internally to solve its many crises. To garner the full support of the populace, it is imperative that the government be inclusive, be fair and be welcoming of diverse opinions and suggestions. The incumbents should create public policies that would engender harmony in the society, that would unleash the entrepreneurial spirit in locals, that would make people feel as though they belong, and would create an enabling environment for the least among us to catch up. A monumental effort must be made to stop the tribal politics, the filthy enrichment of a few individuals and all corrupt practices. Transparency and accountability should be our watchwords. Finally, the electoral system should be pristinely clean. The party that wins, truly wins.
Recognizing that it is the Freedom Party which joined forces with the Labour Party to remove the UWP from office, and the result is the nightmare which we have experienced for 18 years, is it that the Freedom Party feels that Dominicans have had enough and they want to slay the beast they helped create or is it that the Freedom Party now realizes that the UWP has built enough momentum and has a chance to decapitate the beast,that the Freedom Party is doing a 2.0 version to split the votes at the upcoming elections and keep their beast alive and well,because they hate the UWP that much. @Catherine I asked myself the same question. What does he mean by “take back Dominica”? Where did she go or who took her away. It is all the same; talk, talk, talk, with not production.
And yet the words which we speak must come to fruition; if we are willing to perform the action; but who is going to do the work, if they think they would be helping the present government; knowing that they want to be in that position.
So many Dominicans are dis-satisfied with the DLP (even their own supporters) but they hate the UWP even more. Maybe the DFP can bring some hope to our broken, tribal political system.

Wake up!!!..Dominica is in a state of economic coma and it is time to turn things around by removing the current failed DLP…Forget about partisan politics because if any other party (including the UWP) were in Power and ill-performed as such, it would be our duty to remove them also for sake of country. It used to be that Dominica had an abundance of produce grown in the countryside. The farming sector was doing great. Coffee was also grown locally hardly any was imported. Eugenia Charles warned about being too dependent on Bananas and growing coffee too.

They were decent people in government and obviously visible that these two parties worked in the interest of Domininca. The economy and agriculture sectors was prominent in the forefront because the, DFP and UWP were decent, intellectuals and had Domininca`s interest at the heart of their priorities.
