And then i come hear and see comments about people starving etc.

well – if they are starving, i’d think that they took the money to “style out” and look “belle” as opposed to saving for a raining day, usig they little they have to starting a trade etc.

how can you starve in Dominica when you can live off the land?

Crime on the rise, the economy is horrible and those damn ministers don’t give two hoots about the people of Dominica that got them where they are making all that money. It will be a sad day if DLP is voted in again, it will surely be a uphill battle and a downhill tumble for D/A. :(

DNO you need to check your Likes and Dislikes. It is clearly manipulated.

If you don’t, it will reflect your bias.

Mathematically it is very unlikely and on reflection it brings into question the manipulation of the poll on the nominee for president.

I won’t be surprise if that method persists that this comment is voted out.

This beautiful Dominica is a democracy where differences in views/opinions ought to be respected. All political parties whether in government or opposition are free to hold meetings, conferences, recognize their own, celebrate their successes etc. it is all good. We wish the DLP a successful conference. Roseau Valley will not be there. However, we are sure that Curtis Mathew will make it the headline news on his Monday morning news cast. We await the exciting report.

While the DLP celebrates its successes, the leadership of the UWP need to consider taking some BOLD and PROACTIVE action without further delay. Let us consider the following having illy internalized the powerful saying- the power of the people is greater than the people in power.

    Lennox needs to be in parliament NOW. The soon this is done, the better;

Edison should consider resigning as MP of Marigot NOW. UWP should force a bye- election to net sift the campaign leading up to general elections and giving live on-the -job training for the “novice” leader.

UWP must be more aggressive and we know that Lennox is He must be contemplating the matter. We defer to the best judgment of the Leadership of the UWP but we would be elated if some kind of radical move is made by the UWP to take full control of the elections momentum.

In fact, the same can be said about Norris Prevost in Roseau Central. Although, more risky than Marigot, usually the most risks brings the highest returns.

    Respectfully
    Roseau Valley

    • ROSEAU VALLEY
      September 12, 2013

Alternatively, one of the appointed senators should immediately resign to make way for Lennox’s entry into parliament.

Let us mobilize the power in the hands of the people and de- emphasize the people in power, who consistently speak in the singular..I did this..I presented that, I caused this…I, I, I, .Let us put the we in the people and make things happen on our terms….not on Skerrit’s terms.

      Respectfully
      Roseau Valley

This is the height of desperation and almost madness for the UWP drones on DNO….

The Article talks about DLP convention and uwp drones are going crazy over an article.

I have news for you uwp drones, DLP is the government of the day, they will be for a long time if you uwp drones keep up with that behaviour.

The Republicans keep asking themselves the same question, why are we always in opposition…

    Dear very concerned,

How are you, I hope well.

I understand the facts as you presented it, but I would like to know which one of the circumstances apply to the present DLP?

When we are bias and have our agenda we play analytic and use precedents and interpret them to advanced our cause.

No one is saying that the DLP is going to be there forever but at the current trajectory they are on course for a fourth consecutive term. Granted whatever can go wrong will go wrong this theory is even more damning of the UWP.

How could they select a leader who is not smarter than a filth grader.

    Come better than that.

Greetings, who determines who is smarter than who? I guess those on the past who employed Mr Linton didn’t think that he was less smart than a 5th former. I have been hearing that he, Mr Linton was expelled from school, if such is the case and I’m not saying it isn’t, can you or others please tell me what the circumstances were which gave rise to that unfortunate event and how old he was. It may be that Mr Linton himself would want to give some clarity to this issue.

Do not worry about the leadership of the UWP, which was democratically elected. We are climbing and standing on a mounting of victory. We know that we may have a mountain to climb to elections victory but like the victory over the nomination of Alex Boyd-Knights, we are prepared to wait until he political volcano erupts in the face of the DLP.

We are climbing the mountain. Change is. Must.

        September 12, 2013

And…if the UWP is climbing, then UWP should standup and condemn the instances of violence which Ms Boyd Knight has referenced.

        Instead… UWP keeps silent.

If you are for the people then you should be for the people…not just the concerns of your follwers.

when GON’s house was bombed – you guys spoke up.

Ms Knight claimed to have had her car stoned – this is VIOLENCE. it’s targeted.

speak up and ask for peace and tolerance. that might say more about you guys than the constant need to run hmmock over people’s characters while failing to recognise their achievements.

labour supporters are dominicans too so nuff respect to there opinions and i believe they are passionate and sincere and in a vibrant democracy an effective and provoking difference of view is the cornerstone of any society but one thing i can not,and will never understand is how people can blindly follow a party that as brought their country to its knees and couldnt care less what happens to their own supporters, all i want is for us to be a forward country were everyone as a chance to make it once they work hard and help in development,a country needs leaders with a vision, leaders who put country and people first, and i do not care who gets the job done once we are on the right track, but without doubt this goverment as failed us badly, this is not the next level, this is a very low level in the history of our country, never have we been so divided while the people we choose to rule turn a blind eye and employ non dominicans before us,who spend our hard earned money like its monopoly there playing, who disrespect dominicans but gets vexed if we dare disrespect our asian friends, people i could go on and on but all i am really trying to say is vote for who you wish, sing praises to whoever you want but when you come to vote stop thinking about yourself and vote what is best for US and our country, and then we might finely start walking down that slippery road of progress

as a staunch supporta of the d.l.p, i’m kind of dissapoointed of all that hoopla. a delegates conference should simply be for delegates. this is not a convention, what is all the bands for. i’m sory but p.m skerrit it shows mismanagement on your part during time of economic stress. this is what we spend money on, and the kids at college can’t get tuition paid? i’m dissappointed, and as an educated supporter i can’t support your way of doing things, i’ll stay home and listen on radio instead. hope you will have a speech to rival that of lennox’s.

We are not here in the world for solely ourselves. We have a civic duty, religious duty and societal duty for our benefit. It is an obligation to others and our country.
People as you are ignorant of that fact. God expects this of you. If you fail to practice them, He will hold you accountable. You will have to answer to him for this. I hope you have learned something and practice it.

23 percent unemployment, 0 percent growth in the economy for the 2012-2013 financial year, smallest economy in the OECS with the largest cabinet…..

I still going….I will get a free lunch. Plus I might shake hands with one of the millionaire ministers. The only thing is I doh know what I will eat on Monday morning.

You know, some times I feel that those people who I see going to these DLP gatherings are not living in D/ca during the year.
Because those are the same people who cry that this Gov’t is the worst we have seen in Da and have taken Dominica 15 yrs backwards.
Dominica still looks primitive compared to our neighboring islands.
I mean what do DLP supporters consider development to be?
After such a bad job of running the financial affairs of Dominica there is no way DLP should be getting support.”Well, maybe just the hand-out recipients.”

How old are you? Keep in mind that the previous government was worse. What did that government do for Dominica? The present government assumed the mess created by the previous government. Money has to come from somewhere to help build Dominica. It does not appear to come fully from income tax of residents. How many are employed and paying their fair share of taxes and on time?
Every national must be responsible. Youths must attend school and graduate in order to obtain employment and also pay their fair share of taxes. Therefore, when you make such a statement, consider the above.

Tell me do you think that the UWP leader will allow China to invest in the country, if they ever come in power?
They are objective to the fact that they are here so you know that if they win then China will have to pack their bundle and go.
So tell me what do you think will happen?
Answer to my question is more poverty..
No jobs, hunger, more drugs to continue to destroy our children’s lives.
        So stop fighting among yourselves….

Election DLP LLP DUPP DFP Other Parties Independents

    966 11,735 10 X X 5,815 1 X X X X 568 0
    1970 1,387 1 9,877 8 X X 7,578 2 X X 933 0
    1975 10,523 16 X X X X 6,920 3 1,066 0 2,879 2

The Labour Party ruled Dominica from 1961-1979. In 1970 election, the DLP won one seat and the Leblanc Labour Party won 8 seats to the DFP 2. There was a split in 1970 due to NAN Ducreay and WS Stevens threatening to resign from the government. The then secretary of the Labour Party went to Leblanc and told them of his plans. Leblanc fired Stevens, Ducreay and James and called elections resulting in the above result. That Secretary contested the Roseau Central Constituency being held by Ducreay and won it for the LLP. His name: Patrick Roland John.
In 1975, the constituencies were increased from 11 to 21. The DLP led by the Rt. Hon. Dr. Patrick Roland John won 16 seats; the DFP 3 and 2 Independents (Stevens in Marigot and Anthony Moise if Soufriere). Besides Mamo, readers could assist who were the other two victories for the DFP.
The Labour crushing victory of 1975 never survived the 5 year term and was constitutionally booted out of office in 1979.
The reason for this information is to remind those who think that the DLP will forever stay in office. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. The problem with the opposition parliamentarians is that they believe that the change MUST be effected in their lifetime. I say NO! Hundreds of thousands died in Libya for 4 decades trying to effect change. They succeeded having given their lives for such change. Millions of Russians gave their lives from the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 until the repressive corrupt regime fell in 1990. I hope that you follow the point. The longer they stayed in power, the harder they fell. PJ Patterson lives the most Statesman-like life in the Caribbean. He bowed out gracefully and did not overstay his welcome.
Basdeo Panday with the exceptions of two terms in government, once as Prime Minister, was the perennial Opposition Leader. Not until he was roundly defeated as leader of the UNC which he founded, did the party make it back to power. What would be so wrong for Edison James to resign his seat and have a bye-election called so that Lennox Linton can be incumbent Member of Parliament entering general elections? Who are the advisors of the UWP? Though they must know that Skerrit would rather call a general election rather than allowing Lennox Linton to steal his thunder. Thanks in advance for factual corrections
