DLP Marigot Association exploring other candidates amid possible by-elections

Harold Tyson

Chairman of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) Marigot Constituency Association Harold Tyson says plans are afoot to select a new candidate to contest the proposed byelections in Marigot.

Government Senator Dayton Baptiste, who contested that seat in the December 18, 2009 general elections for the DLP lost to United Workers Party’s Edison James. Baptiste is reportedly having some trouble with his Association.

Tyson said Baptiste has not represented the people of Marigot and now that there could be by-elections, “it makes the matter even more serious”.

He said the Association is currently on the ground screening candidates to ensure a better replacement.

“We have had about five meetings and Baptiste never attended. At this time he can’t come to us and ask us to vote for him. As far as some people think, it is too late. We are looking for candidates and we have been talking to several persons and we are hoping that good sense will prevail and the DLP hierarchy will decide that they will not just put something on us,” Tyson stated.

“It’s time that we in Marigot decide what we want for ourselves. The past few years people have decided what they wanted for us and now we need to stand up and decide for ourselves once and for all,” he added.

Tyson said a number of top Labourites are supporting him in that regard.

The PM should know what he was doing before taking someone who knows nothing about the people of Marigot to represent them, it will always have trouble cause Marigot people are not fools… Please Mr.PM go to Marigot and put this situation to rest and let the people decide for themselves who they want to represent them it’s as simple as that.. God bless DOMINICA and the people of MARIGOT FOR STANDING UP FOR THERE RIGHTS.

Sorry Mr. Tyson!!!!!—–but I think that you sound so self-promoting and the more I listen to you is the more I think you are a CROOK. If you are a real Labourite you need to understand that family fights should NEVER take place on radio, TV etc. Keep the fighgt in the “home” and when all is said and done the world will see a united Marigot Labour Party Branch. What you are doing will only help the opposition. You have already done enough damage. STOP IT NOW!! If you are the candidate as it stands now I could even come to marigot and campaign against you “SELF-PROMPTING CROOK”.

BAD MOVE!!! The fact that Mr.Tyson can publicly redicule his previously chosen candidate for the Marigot constituency does speak volumes about the lack of leadership and organization of the Labour Party Marigot Constituency Association. Mr. Tyson could have simply chosen another candidate without having to “publicly” reveal the shortcomings of Mr. Baptiste. BAD LEADERS COME FROM BAD LEADERSHIP!!!

After all, we are talking about Marigot. The man spent all his years in Antigua …. How can he, at this point decide that he wants to represent Marigot. I am not sure what PM SKerrit was thinking, but that will never work. Marigotians prides themselves on being intelligent, don’t insult the people like that. The Marigot branch of the DLP recognizes this fact and is actively doing their homework to be prepared for the upcoming supposed bi-election.

This statrement is so true. Mr Tyson seems to have a UWP agenda. Does he really believe that the Labor party members and supports both nationally and in the local Marigot communities are that naive?
      Mr Tyson is no Laborite.
