The Dominica Labour Party (DLP) will be holding a public meeting in St. Joseph on Tuesday evening to defend its policies and to outline its plans for the development of the country.

MP for the St. Joseph Constituency, Kelvar Darroux, said the party has expressed its confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit.

“We’ve been faced with a barrage of public insults and also accusations by the opposition and we have a right and a responsibility as a political party to defend ourselves,” he said on privately-owned Kairi FM’s Heng Program on Monday.

He noted that several issues will be addressed including plans for moving the country forward after the ravages of Tropical Storm Erika.

“We will also address the plans and progress that we have for moving the country forward particular after the passage of Erika because you will well understand that some of our priorities would have changed to ensure that we can get things back on track,” Darroux said.

He stated that the process of rebuilding Dominica has already started “and we will continue to bring across the development of the people.”

Darroux called on all “Labour warriors” to attend the meeting in large numbers to listen to a number of speakers address the different issues.

“You will hear from the Political Leader Skerrit as well as several other government ministers who will speak to different issues and also plans and progress for the development of our country,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Darroux told state-owned DBS Radio that the party is expressing confidence in the ‘astute’ leadership of the Prime Minister in “steering the ship.”

“He has done so over the last 12 years and we’ve seen him grown from strength to strength, being a very exemplary leader in spite of the challenges that we are faced with,” he said.

The meeting begins at 7:00 pm.

Any news on this nonsense that took place in St. Joseph last night? Was it the usual rhetoric, devious messages that something is happening, that the blind can see that nothing is happening.

In any DEMOCRATIC NATION the Government represents ALL the people of that nation irrespective of political affiliation, race, religion or social status. Here in Dominica, however, our Government is calling a meeting to discuss “the plans and progress that we have for moving the country forward” and instead of asking ALL Dominicans to come and listen to what the Prime Minister and Ministers of Government has to say about these “plans”, our Government makes a call for “Labour Warriors” to come out in large numbers. This type of divisive politics is TOTALLY UNDEMOCRATIC to it’s core. It serves as irrefutable evidence that our Government only represent their supporters and NOT the COUNTRY!!! This is a most damaging precedent to set for future administration. It represents political victimization and ostracizing factions of our society based on party affiliation. It absolutely contradicts the democratic motto of Government for the people, by the people and of the people! Shame!

    • February 2, 2016

Can any of you imagine the President of the United States making a public address and asking only Democrats to come out in “large numbers”??? That President would be immediately crucified by the press, accused of being partisan and divisive and pressured to resign!!! I implore my Labourite comrades to WAKE UP!!! This is just NOT the way to run a country. We all have a right to our political opinions and affiliations. We are allowing our Government to continue a pattern of behavior that will result in a Dominica so divided by politics that we won’t be able to vote for a Government based on performance, ideas, policies, plans or positions on issues. We will only be able to vote to keep our party in power based on fear of what the “other” party will do to us if or when they win. Our Government cannot continue to represent one side and not the other, it’s morally, ethically and spiritually wrong!!! The angels are crying at what is happening in this Country!!!

Darroux called on all “Labour warriors” to attend the meeting in large numbers to listen to a number of speakers address the different issues

Mr. Darroux, I am so RED like those in picture that people call me RED ANTS. I will not be able to attend the meeting tonight but here is my RED suggestion to ensure we address the different issues UWP is accusing us of. Here are my suggestions:

    1. Start the meeting at 8PM sharp
2.As soon as it begins, connect speakers and system to Q95, where Angello and Thomas will have their weekly program called politics
    3. Be sure to answer truthfully and honestly every question Angello raises.
    4. Be sure the meeting is carried live on DBS, Marpin, Vibes, Kairi etc so all could hear Skerrit and others defend themselves from the attacks of UWP

Unless such is done, the meeting will be another one filled with lies and discrimination, similar to the attack you and Regie put on Monel, which landed Reggie in French hospital for months.

Dominicans will be pleased to hear from the Prime Minister, no only plans for the way forward for Dominica. Not the bashing of Mr. Linton. We will want to know, the total amount of money collected by Baroness Scotland since her appointment to collect money on behalf of Dominica. We will want to know the real story behind My Dominica Trade House and Smartways to Dominica. We will want to know what investigation his Government has made concerning the millions of Dollars connected to his ex girl friend and another Dominican lady posing as directors of companies based in Britain. We will want to know what has happened to the 51% shares owned by the Government and people of Dominica. He told Dominicans that approximately $1.3 billion will be needed to put Dominica where it was prior to Erika, we would like to know what progress has been in terms of getting assistance from other friendly Governments. The sale of passports has generated $120 millions how was that money spent.

The people of Dominica are the ones who barrage you and your corrupt government. The problem is; you do not listen, you fail to listen….you are out of touch, out of country….out of ideas…..out of focus. Go St. Joe and make noise. Hon Lennox Linton is safe & blessed

You all barrage the people of Dominica into poverty, begging where there is minimal development with -2.7 growth and you think with a sinking PM you can defend this.
This meeting will be the same as yesterday, the day before, years before and the election before that. Same old bobol bullshit. YOu make country is nice its poverty under this inept PM and corrupt DLP government. Look what mess we in papa Bondie.
I believe that Charles Savarin should be the Guest Speaker. Prayerful thoughts from Rome…confesses all sins of this…

I did not know that the people’s confidence in Skerrit was being questioned. So the Supreme Leader is going through some serious issues that he needs the Labourats to give him some confidence and self esteem. What is really going on in Dominica? Lennox is calling on his supporters to join him at a hotel site that has been abandoned for twenty years, instead of demanding from Skerrit what the hell is he doing with our passports and the country.
Skerrit is looking for confidence building while the country is sinking into economic decay.
Is it time for a new breed of politicians to emerge? It appears so, because I do not understand how the two political parties are holding public meetings on the final week leading to carnival, when the liquors have already started to flow.
Are these political meetings on the Carnival calendar for more rum to flow or is it just pure pappyshow on the part of both political tribes.
Please help me in understanding the rational?
    One Love.

I love that calypso “d momo d momo talking”; It’s a DLP public meeting right? and the momo call on all “Labour Warriors” to attend in large numbers, hummmm! You could have said it better son; and the script should have read” All Dominicans should turn out in large numbers” Don’t you think that the citizens of this blessed country need to hear from the persons elected to govern their affairs. This notion that Dominica belongs to Labouries will take us no where; and what does it matter to you guys anyway. Divide and Rule is your moto and that of dictators. The barrage of insults and accusations you wish to defend is the doing of that of Skerrit and the rest of the Labour party; what is there to defend? The Truth? I don’t think so. Accountability; Transparency that’s what the public expect to hear; but you guys are void of any anything better; so called intellectual discus from you all at that meeting i’m positive will be nothing more than “Lennox Linton”.

    1. The truth about the NG Lap Seng talala, especially documents the world saw Skerrit signing less than a week before NG was arrested by the FBI?
    2. Are we going to hear the truth about individuals close to Skerrit, that Angello Allene read about in a document posted on line about UK offshore companies?
    3. Similarly, will we finally get the truth about the GON Emanuel Christmas morning of 2010 firebombing?
    4. Will Dominicans get to know how many passports have been sold, how many diplomatic passports issued, and the price each was sold for?
    5. Should we expect to hear about the Moroccan…

I would like this to be clarified, how does Range fit in? The ambassador to the UN said Dominica raised 120 plus million dollars in six months. How does Range development get or how much do they get to build the hotel? Or are they selling passports separately from the above mentioned figure? Honestly its very confusing. Awah we Darroux, I am a laborite and perfect idiot off course by ass- ociation, but I must admit that your statement has raised many questions that even a damn idiot like me could see. First of all, to say the party has expressed confidence in leadership Skerrit, is lives the impression that something (s) happened that caused you all to question his leadership. I mean hasn’t he been the leader since Jan. 2004 and was re elected in 2005, 2009 and 2015? I wonder what happened to now express confidence in him? Was their a secret meeting to make someone else the leader?

  25. Time for Skerrit to resign!
    February 2, 2016

The time has come for Mr. Skerritt to resign!!!

The mere mention of his name has become synonymous with scandal and corruption…both at home and abroad.

He has and 12 years, and although he has made some strides in terms of infrastructure and education, he has failed miserably in terms of developing the country’s resources, and creating any type of employment in the country…

And, the country is now entering into a new phase of desperation, and one can feel the tide turning against this administration on the ground.

So, I am pleading with Mr. Skerrit: leave now on your own terms because the worst thing any leader can do is cling on to power against the will of the people, these situations never end well…

What infrastructure……what education? These are normal things to happy, like breastfeeding a child, go ask mammie in New York, it is a must not a privilege. In the 1950`s and 60`s one would say that. ..but not in 2016.
It is like saying that your child can now have a whole ripe banana or whole mango to eat.

Baron, Leblanc, Mamo, Eddie fix up our roads, and under Skerrit and Labour, it deteriorate and its dangerous.

I see the time coming when evil men will wax worse and and will continue to deceive, according to the book of Timothy. I see a time coming when politicians and pastors will work hand in hand to plot more lies, hypocrisy and deception. Yes the time is coming when pms will make pastors spiritual advisors so together, they could do more evil. I see the time coming when the pastor and pm will use the name of the church for personal things like building materials, and the pastor will get arrested by police and customs, and the pastor will call pm, and pm will have police to release him with no case. I see the time coming when the pastor will preach against adultery while he has many concubines, including a queen for 7 years, and still church people will applaud him because he is pm friend. I see it getting so bad that even when an evil pastor is put on probation for his sins, he will take half of the church and go start his church, because he is pm fried. I see these evils coming

“…Late last year the issuing of a Dominican diplomatic passport to former Nigerian minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, who currently under investigation in Britain, prompted the opposition to ask questions over Dominican passports being given to people who appear to be questionable. The opposition cited the example of Francesco Corallo, who was on Interpol’s most wanted list and who the government had sought to make its permanent envoy to the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome; NG Lap Seng, who is accused of international racketeering and money laundering; Rudolph King and Timothy Cornwall who were jailed for fraud while they served as Labour Party appointed ambassadors of Dominica; Italian aristocrat, Paolo Zampolli, a ranking diplomat at Dominica’s United Nations Mission in New York while awaiting trial on allegations of stealing over US$4-million in brokerage commissions from a real estate firm. Dominica is quickly getting to the point that we will allow politicians to be part of the camp that will plan to set fire on our nationals, be it on Christmas day or not, and still bless them. The time is quickly coming when the church will be part of the evils of the land and still call themselves christians. The time is quickly coming when people who stand behind the pulpit, will go on radio to lie about evils they are part of, and no one will say a thing. The time is coming church leaders will get rich through drug trafficking and will say is through sale of crab. The day will come when we will call evil good and good evil. DNO, none of the things I predicted above has been done yet, but I just see them coming ok.

ow is the time more than ever before for labourites to make these goons to understand that they are no longer going to tolerate their trickery and cheap political tactics, that their rum and party Cannot run a blasted country. if not now then when. that country”s economy is the poorest in the Caribbean for Crist sake. high levels of crime is an indicator of a missed managed economy, as well as high unemployment. …… They have enriched themselves and they go around begging the international community for support for Dominica post Erika. what have they done for the country following Erika with the country’s resources NOTHING because there is no money. what more do we want from these people. Aye y’all, my mind is telling me that something is not right and may be happening behind the scenes in Dominica’s most backward government ever ie Roosevelt Skerrit.

The other day, an absolutely confused young lady who is President of some equally confused Mahaut group in Skerrit’s party come out reaffirming their confidence in Roosevelt. Now just a year after the last election, the minions & sycophants of the government of Roosevelt Skerrit now have to be called to express their confidence in Skerrit eh. Didn’t they just do that in the elections, delusional as they are?

Folks stay tuned. “Something is happening” (now where have I heard that phrase before….hhhmmmm???).

I am feeling that Roosevelt Skerrit is insecure and isolated and needs boosting up. Am I right? I really hope they do not ignore the geothermal development and will talk about that the future of that expensive hole in the ground. Are the French still going to buy electricity from mr. Skerrit. More questions than answers. Scheming for their own pocket.

I certainly won’t be tuning in.

Too many lies and no action from the DLP.

    I’m done.
