DLP to hold mass rally tonight

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit is among various high ranking members of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) who will address a rally tonight in Lagoon in light of the dismissal of an election petition by the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (ECSC).

“The prime minister will be speaking to his people and Dominicans tonight from 7:00 pm at Lagoon to express how he feels and say thank you for their support throughout,” adviser to the Prime Minister, Emmanuel Nanthan, said.

The ECSC in it ruling on Monday ended a nearly four-year court battle questioning the legitimacy of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and his Education Minister, Petter Saint Jean as elected members of parliament.

Nanthan said supporters will also hear from the lawyers who were involved in case while it was being heard in the courts. “We will also have addresses from the lawyers, who now have the results of the case, to explain to Dominicans  what actually transpired,” he noted. “We are looking forward to have large numbers out as the prime minister once and for all put the case behind him and take on the mantle of moving the country forward.”

According the Nanthan, Dominica never had an illegal prime minister and never will. “Dominica has never had an illegal prime minister or government, Dominica will never have an illegal prime minister or government and we are going to put that behind us and chart the way forward from now till the next general elections,” he said.

    Hello,
It is pathetic that Mr. Green can accuse someone else of having dual citizenship and being in government. The sinless one cast the first stone. Petter, Sherrit: Where are thine accusers? They do not qualify to accuse you since they are more guilty than you. How can it be ok for UWP but a crime for DLP?

Skerrit admitted that for three years, he has been stressed out because of the case.Great job,Mr. Linton and Mr. Edison James.

After sober reflection, I am consoled by the fact that the Court of Appeal did Skerritt a gross injustice by giving him more rope to hang himself, he has all licence to further violate the Domninica Constitution and one day is devout followers will wake up from their spell and turn on him with vengeance.

IT is high time the united workers party stop the beekering and work with the government for the betterment of the people who voted for them. They are grown men and not little babies and babies dont cry like that.

The opposition is not a chorus team for the government. They are to constructively criticise when necessary. The government is the one to reach out to them like Obama is doing in the US. But on the government’s program on a radio station they call the opposition cockroaches, pigs etc and brutally smash any dissenting voice. Even during a live calypso competition this year a government minister posts a text to a calypsonian berating him for criticising the government in his song while he was still on stage..

    March 12, 2013

If I were PM Skerritt, I’d call elections before the end of the year. Perfect political strategy: the dual citizenship matter is over; it’s within the 5 years when it’s due; and the opposition is totally unprepared. They have been so obsessed with the last election they have not put an ounce of energy towards the future. So … Why not?!

    And can it be…

“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.” This quote is commonly attributed to Abraham Lincoln, but it is also attributed to P.T. Barnum of the world famous Barnum and Bailey circus.

And aptly, it seems that the 3-ring circus is about to begin replete with the clowns famous for pulling the bags over the eyes. Reminiscent of the BVI case a few years ago involving the Dear Leader, the outcome was allegedly made known to some of the parties up to four days before hand. This allegedly allowed the then Attorney General ample time to allegedly craft and re-craft a statement in praise of her bosses. On the day of the verdict, however she allegedly pretended she was giving an extemporaneous statement.

Allegedly, some of the parties also knew in advance what the outcome of this case would have been which allegedly makes the victory rally an alleged planned event. If they are really honest with themselves, the “Attorney” as he has allegedly done before should now conduct a new private party vote among themselves yea or nay whether they think the Constitution was violated. The Church man can serve as the Monitor.

I submit the theme for the victory rally viz: Read my lips, no law law, no constitution can keep us back.

  38. Act of contrition
    March 12, 2013

A wise Prime minister would not use this victory to hold mass rally but would rather address the nation. In his address, even if he rejoices and calls the opposition all kinds of names in secret, a wise leader however would use this opportunity to applaud the actions of the UWP and even commend them for taking steps to ensure that democracy is is alive. He is the PM and he needs the support of all Dominicans to bring the country foward. Mass rally is just going to get uwpites more upset and the country more divided. he needs to stop following the footsteps of those communist leaders who use political results to tear down those that don’t support them and instead, follow the example of the US presidency that use victory to call country to unity. By the way, this is not a victory. Both men know what they did was wrong but were just able to use the weaknesses of the political arena and the unjust justice system, along with deep pockets to get them through. But I have come to realize that because the law says it ok doesn’t mean it is right. You see, in certain US states it is alright and legal for same sex to get married. But we know it is not RIGHT.in my opinion, Skerrit and St. Jean just got a license to continue to do wrong. However, for the sake of the country, I am happy they were made winners because a UWP victory would disturb the peace of the country, and that we cannot afford to do at this time.

We all know what the so called DLP big boys are all after. They have one thing in common since Mr. Skerrit became PM and that is, they’ve all gotton Rich. Notice I did not say ‘richer’ because most of them were ALL broke until that time. Ask yourselves some questions. So they just have to keep singing for their pockets.
If Mr. Skerrit knew anything about politics he would not have used this so-called victory to hold mass rally. After all, he is the Prime Minister of a country that is poor, politically divided, and a country that has gone 20 years behind since he became PM. In fact it has gotton so backward that the biggest international flight that land in DA come April, only seats 34 passengers compared to the 68 seats he inherited when he became PM. His action just shows his immaturity. As leader, he should seek to bring the country together without any mass rally. Offcourse if it had gone UWP way they would have had a rally and that would have been alright. They are the oppsition and their job is to try to win. Skerrit is their already and his job is not to try to win but to bring a divided country together.

Am I interpreting you correctly? Skerrit all by himself created American Airlines bankruptcy restructuring and caused them to stop the eagle fights out of PR (Note not just to DA)

Wow…. Skerrit really have more power as the PM of little DA than anyone could have imagined.

    • Justice and Truth
      March 12, 2013

What an exaggeration. Dominica is 20 years behind? You must be blind, deaf and sleeping. In addition, whose fault it is that the international flight only seats 34 passengers? Have you considered the increase in crimes and murders in DA? There is also the airlines high cost. Since 9-11 and all the security at airports and airlines, these could cause those overseas not to travel to Dominica or anywhere for that matter.
People as you blame the government for everything and not the attitude of others and the world situation.
There is also an economical problem. Those who reside overseas and who are either pensionable or are employed their income is not increasing while costs of everything is increasing and exorbitantly. They have obligations to meet.
Consider those factors and pray a perfect “Act of Contrition” for your frailties and live according to God’s Commandments and the religious teaching of the Church.
Ask God to enlighten you and grant you the grace to see the real truth of the matter and to erase this air of criticism which does not help anyone for that matter; not even yourself.
There are other factors which may have absolutely nothing to do with the PM. Much more could be stated about that.
You must think in depth prior to writing. This is your problem. The peace of God be to you.

Like Alvin Knight would say when reading the news: “Sorry I’ll that again. That should read.”You remind me of Benjamin Button in the movie by the same name. where as he was getting younger you are becoming or have become less logic/inteleigent (if that can be applied) sensible.
What’s your title??? lol tickle me. under my arm and the sole of my feet. Advisor my great toe.DA has really gone to the puppies my friend!when UWP won in 1995 or should when they made everything feasible in DA’s politics ( with us culminating with what we have today lol.A faamous mamo addict engineer or construction guy(who got all the jobs then 80-05 said” The horses were out of the stables.”
Today, it is sad that after 33 yrs of colonialism and almost 500 yrs of having been brought across to the caribbean we have come to this when a acouple of by products of extreme poverty get into power as they continue to escape the law be it by incompetense of the DFP UWP etc we end up with all kinds of illegals from the highest tothe 2nd highest position in the land.DA is fast approaching having more political illegals than the USA and Canada have. their metaphoric deportation are evaded on technicalities and incompetenses of the combined opposition.
If there is no redress in the highest regional court then Isuggest the opposition more to their own NEXT LEVEL what ever tht mayb be for them/us.

So it is clear now that Medard has his people and there are d/cans. Are the new arrivals.the denizens with our passports his people? tell us.

You have done irreparable damage to your reputation and you all are dong irreparable damage to Dominica. Court has ruled and all you happy, but when Jehovah decide to make his ruling I hope you all will have feet to jump.

Dominica is in a sad state of affairs, and people like Mano who really should know better but has decided instead to drink from that cup of corruption simply because of a very dangerous appetite for more worldly things will suffer.

Time will tell Dominica. God is not mocked and he has lots of patience but when he decides that enough is enough do not even bother to run for cover because he will find you.
