Tourism Minister Ian Douglas said the people of Portsmouth are benefiting directly from the supplementary estimates which were just passed in parliament.
Douglas told a debate on the $62,617,413 supplementary estimates in Parliament this week that several aspects of the economy in Portsmouth has benefited.
“Just a couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of inaugurating a brand new fisheries complex in Portsmouth and it has greatly enhanced the bayfront and add to the socio-economic lively good of the community, We are grateful for that expenditure,” he said.
Douglas said another measure that speaks directly to the upward economic movement in the north is the Ross University School of Medicine.
“We see the kind of economic activity that the Ross University has spurned and not only in the public sector but also because of the public sector expenditure and because of the public sector investment in the area. We see the private sector taking advantage of the opportunities as a result of public sector investment,” he added.
Either Mr Douglas is not telling all or DNO is not doing a good job reporting the full story. Really, how did the Supplementary budget help? I thought the Fisheries complex was donated by the Japanese and not sure what the budget did for Ross University. So tell us Mr Douglas…. or DNO.
how much of that budget money went into fixing those dilapidated dirt roads in picard that the students have to walk on everyday? or to implement some planning in that area so that greedy business people don’t completely destroy the environment. That speech sounds like a whole load of beating around the bush and still saying nothing. There were no figures or even estimates (other than the overall budget figure).
Good observation Mr. Douglas and there are many more to come. Rome was not built in a day and little by little we making progress.Keep up the hard work.
