Four candidates nominated to contest upcoming by-elections

Nomination offices are closed in Salisbury and Marigot and all four candidates have been confirmed to contest by-elections in these two constituencies.

The Dominica Labour Party candidate Dayton Baptiste and United Workers Party’s Edison James were both nominated this morning to contest the Marigot seat.

Hector John and Bentley Royer were nominated in Salisbury to contest that seat as well.

Presiding officers in both constituencies reported a relatively quiet process this morning.

The polls opened at 7am and closed at 4pm.

The date set for by elections is July 9, 2010.
