Francis says help is on the way for Roseau South

Francis is promising help in many areas

United Workers Party (UWP) hopeful for the Roseau South Constituency, attorney Joshua Francis, has said that help for that constituency is on the way under a UWP administration.

“We are going to make Roseau South the best place it can be, the best place to be, the best place to work and the best place to enjoy life,” he said at a UWP rally on Sunday.

According to him, if elected into office the Roseau South constituency will see major improvements in several areas.

“In the social area, we will ensure that we reintroduce adult education,” he said. “We will have a rescue house of our young people throughout the constituency, give them a second chance. We will train our young people, we will send and give more education opportunities.”

Sports is also an area Francis promised to looked into, adding that anyone interested in work will get a job in the Roseau South Constituency.

A mall in Harlem is also on the cards, according to Francis.

“We will ensure that we work to engage private investors to build a Harlem Mall,” he said. He noted that discussions have already begun with someone to build and operate the mall, opposite to Sukie’s Enterprises in Newtown.

“Brothers and sisters, this is not a joke,” he pointed out, adding that the UWP is in the process of looking for investors to build a marina in Roseau South.

The housing, fishing and baking sector will also receive a boost, and in addition, Francis also promised to provide technical support to hoteliers.

The people of Montego Bay will also be moved from their location near the sea to the Charlotte Valley Housing Scheme, something he said has been promised for over 20 years.

The construction of a sea wall from Loubiere to Newtown, improved drainage in Bath Estate, the provision of a recreational facility for the Silver Lake community, support for the farmers and flower growers of Eggleston and Giraudel are some of the UWP’s plans, according to Francis.

Francis will be facing Ambrose George in the upcoming general election slated for December 8.

I am a UWP person but we must be realistic. These guys are not ready. Where is the help coming from? You all must tell us whom you all guys are dealing with. First of all, Linton does not look like a PM. Not even a PROJECT MANAGER.

Poor people are their own best enemies to have all their feathers plucked out by Labour for the past 5 years and now at election time to be following Labour for a little bit of corn………….Ask Labour party where they get all that campaign money from? What do they have to give in return? Why their party budget suddenly larger than the country’s budget? You think Tony Astaphan love Labour so much? He protecting his interest and that of the capitalist like the Nassiefs. Physical slavery was abolished but economic slavery is rife by these sons and daughters of slave masters who continue to exploit and underpay children of the slaves. That is what Labour was about; to protect the rights of the working class by seeking to increase minimum wages in keeping with inflation. But now, the Government taking their hefty increases and offering the public officers 0%,0%, 0%. And all you still shouting “Labour Power”! Zor sorte wi.

Francis, I realize it is election time and the campaign and competition to be elected are in full force.
What you stated is no exception. Prime Minister Skerrit already has that vision for Roseau, to beautify it. Please do not be a copycat. Think of some other idea and suggestion for those areas you speak of.
With names as Harlem and Montego Bay, it is my feeling that those areas reek of drug trafficking and addicts. Why were they named as such? I would be afraid to walk in those areas.
You can’t promise change if the people do not change or have no wish to change their ways. If you want to effect change, as a start, you could try to promise to re-name those areas and clean them up to eradicate illegal drugs and other crimes in those areas, in Dominica for that matter. I have not heard anyone of you in that Party mention eradicating crimes in Dominica, to make it a safe place for all nationals and visitors. In this respect, you and your Party will be doing Dominica and its nationals a great favor if you try to effect this change which is so badly needed.
Give Dominica, those areas mentioned, some dignified names and reduce crimes. What do you plan to do in these areas?

Excuse me…Harlem is not the name of the community and if you and Joshua had done your research you would know that the area is called Harlem unofficially because of the football Team which has been around for more than 40 years…Joseph for a man that want to be my Parl Rep is that the best you can do…

And the best ppl you want to put in the Housing Scheme are the Paros in Montego Bay…what about the ppl on the community who have been renting for ages and would love to own a home…would you relegate them to leaving in the hills of Charlotte Valley with the Paros and thieves as their neighbours…is that how you going to take cate of your constitutients….smdh…again jus like your leader looking for votes!

Man go back and do your homework and “the Facts” you to for disgracing my community! SHAME ON YOU!

Why Harlem and Montego Bay? I would not want to reside in those areas.
Roseau has Harlem. It also has Montego Bay and whatever else of names which are that of other countries. Who was responsible for giving them those names? Why not other names which are suitable for Roseau, for Dominica? Did they not consider that those names are not blest names and should never have been chosen for Roseau, for Dominica?
You place curses on your own country? Not smart people who thought of those names, who gave the areas these names and who allowed them. No common sense whatsoever.
You cause Roseau, Dominica to go from bad to worst. You should re-name those areas and give them appropriate names which are suitable for Dominica and which will not have a stigma and place a curse on Dominica. This is no joke and one to be taken seriously.

That was one of the most powerful speaches i’ve heard on a political platform. If half of the voting population listened to this man last night, they all would be ready to vote UWP. I don’t think he could add anything else to it.
I listened to the PM speach and he never once mentioned we did this or we did that, he always said I did this, and I did that, I , I , I. I hope he get to listen to the speach last night, especially Mr Fancis and Mr. Linton was very good as well, no force, just simple explanations and TRUTH.

Joshua my little bro! Of all the things needed in Roseau south( Newton) Is a mall you pushing?
Boy am worried bad for my place of birth DA.
With a group of…………………. in Gov’t made up of all kinds of characters just like the UWP the Solid Team of 95 which became liquid by 1998 and was gaseous by 2000 composed of all kinds farmers( not the working kind) the latitfunists group Guy who got upset with Mamo business people some who got lucky purchased and resold land and have deep pockets up to today and his busziness partner who tried everything from clothes factory to supermarket & all in between finally going into exile . In addition some lawyers even today after 20 yrs still do not know who they are but wanting to remain above poverty linesand keep changing party like a new born with pampa change evey 4 hrs.
Now Mr.Wannabe rep Roseau South now you guys have change from the solid tram to Team DA. There has been a sub of ConED with LL like a soccer game with the inclusion of some rather rear new Characters like morso Pie ej what a joke. Former Cafetria commies in 1995 -2000 and still there joining what Rosie once described as a farcists party. What kind of Paradox is that Mr. Who the cap fit? There was on who once a cafeteria commie in the UWP switched sides now labour and prior to UWP was DLM & DLP where is he now? Gone double RED with the local Neo REDs and the European reds lol look jokes.
Enough MR Joshua hitting on U & ur guys. But clearly DA has a humongous problem Gov’t is a waste and the opposition is no better so aren’t we well S…………………….?
It look like we gonna continue with the crap we have cause the opposition more so the people of DA aren’t ready for real politics. See Para called it a day, Rosie & Pierro left that too so did Mamo mike Carbon(S) left us and added I am not feeling well my self. Remember that MOU with the Sinos???? well we were bought sold by the Neo DLP alias DFP strays. Beres Hammond sang look move over another man wants to take over( a key line in the song) and that was paid for by Skrit himself what an irony! We are a dotish nation . A country full of Couleves.

I listened to the presentation of Francis but was certainly NOT impressed. Its the same old approach of just coming up with all sorts of crazy vote catching ideas without serious thought! You alone cannot decide for a community Joshua. I thought you would have departed from the strategy of the old heads and show more inclusiveness!

And one more thing, Sanford needs to tell us why the people in the Kalinago Territory should not vote for Cassius. He seems to know something that the people don’t know!

Sikiri, any you are my friend, and I support YOU. The problem is I cannot see Lennox as my leader, and I have to think of the WHOLE package. All the things you mention are fine, but I am afraid … I am concerned that Lennox will have trouble sourcing financing for them. Alas! He could not source financing for this year’s campaign! Edo did it when he was head, what happen this year? These things speak to the quality of leadership – negotiation skills, representation of a people, impact & influence. But my friend, I support YOU. All the best.
