The Dominica Labour Party’s Ashton Graneau, brother of Kelly Graneau, has captured the Salybia constituency, according to preliminary results.
Graneau got a total of 923 votes while Deputy Leader of the United Workers Party Claudius Sanford received 616 votes. Independent candidate Christabelle Augustine got two votes.
Kelly Graneau was the first Minister of Carib Affairs, but gave up the opportunity to his brother Ashton, who will now make his debut in parliament.

Sanford and his cronies in the Kalinago Territory have a lot to punder over. They claimed to have the intellectual pool from the community as their campaign team and everyone who shared a different opinion were classified as … and the like. It seems that their campaign team was given a monopoly over commonsense and that the people had no eyes to see the housing project, new school, redevelopment of the water project, care of the elderly, money to start small business and the list goes on. The fact is, Sanford’s own team costed him dearly. They were fully prepared to tear anyone down simply for expressing his/her commonsense!
Right now, the UWP is dead in Kalinago Country. Maybe in another 15 or 20 years.
I really don’t think we have caribs anymore because every one is most likely mix. Why don’t we take out the sign:”Carib Territory” down and have one place called Dominica, because apparently i hate to say it, but the race has disappeared and the culture and following behind. You can hardly, very hardly find someone that speaks the Kalinago language, and find people that knows about their history…Again that is my opinion. Let me know what you think..

So many students overseas studing, homing improvement. Tell mr Claudius with his BSc in Economics to put into practice the knowledge in practice to help improve and create job in the reserve. Use the institution that the labour party has created and so that the knowledge he has gain can be use in a meaning full way.
An a point of correction mr sanford is the only carib graduate from UWI there are many out long before him who holds BSc in management and other related fields.
