Integrity Commission accepts Sir Brian’s resignation “with regret”

Sir Alleyne

The Integrity Commission says it accepted with regret the resignation of Sir Brian Alleyne  from the Commission.

Alleyne was forced to resign from the Commission after government minister Charles Savarin questioned his impartiality.

According to a statement from the Integrity Commission, the resignation took effect from March 10, 2011 in accordance with section 6 of the Integrity in Public Office Act 2003.

The Commission places on record that during his tenure, Sir Brian brought to bear an independent and impartial mind to the performance of his functions under the Act, including the examination of integrity and accountability issues that fell to be considered by the Commission concerning persons in public life, singly or collectively.

The Commission is also of the view that its members are not forbidden by their membership from exercising their fundamental right of expression and association, and their democratic right to participate in public debate on national issues including comment on the policies and programmes of the Government of Dominica.

According to the statement, members of the Integrity Commission are aware that in exercising these rights, they shall always observe prudence and the proper degree of constraint having regard to the purpose of the Integrity in Public Office Act and its secrecy and confidentiality provisions, the rules of natural justice and the jurisdiction of the Commission as an independent and impartial statutory authority with oversight duties over persons in public life including Members of the House of Assembly.

Savarin, called for Sir Brian’s resignation alleging that the former judge made several public comments in which he claimed Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and members of the Dominica cabinet may be dishonest.

Simple PROPRIETY demanded that he should have gone a long time ago.
That’s a word whose real meaning more of us should become thoroughly familiar with.

Brian, you had your time, you didn’t do sh&^ with it! They even made a song on you and called you “moo-moo” (Third Eye, about 1990/1991).

Why now? And in cohorts with the likes of who?

Go on about your damn business. Nobody will miss you.

I hope you sleep well at nights. It’s just unbelieveable what you have done. Remember we are all passing by and this same Brian Alleyne might be the one who will be there to offer assistance to you at some point in the future.

Tons of information out there for you to research – it will take too long on here. While you’re at it, do not think for a moment that the political upheavals of the mid- to late-seventies were the work of Mr. Saverin exclusively. Blessed with a with rich vocabulary, along with the ability to communicate them effectively and passionately, Savarin inherited the ignominy as provocateur in chief for all that went down in the 70’s.

See you trying to speak for Mr. Alleyne. Care to enlighten us on what big man, grown-up or adult politics is? BTW do you know the history of these men and their forebears in the life of Dominica? Try doing some research. Then come back and comment.
